It was very nice working with someone that actually does what they say. I was sent a lable for 2 day shipping. Once received I was given the quote and paid same day. I live out of state and did a little research on who has a market for what I was selling. This worked so well for me. Takes away going shop to shop to see what local jewlers will offer you. Steven is definitely one of the best artists in the industry, and it really showed in just how expertly he crafted my wife's ring. The precision he used when breaking the diamond, and the skill he exhibited in shaping it to give it just an awe-inspiring sparkle (the colors of the rainbow literally dazzle the eye & shine when my wife walks around, even at night... I saw it catching the eyes of unawares passersby multiple times on a night out downtown) is simply unmatched. And Kathy is in a league of her own in terms of her artistic ability to match design and functionality in the construction of the band. She designed it specifically for me and my wife, even utilizing its own curvature to shape out the first letter of our last name in beautiful fashion. I was simply blown away. Not only that, but she went way above the extra mile and got me a box to present the ring in, fitted with a small light so that the full radiance of the diamond could be shown in the crucial moment when I present the ring to my wife. My wife was simply floored when I gave it to her, and I owe that 100% to Kathy & Steven--THANK YOU!! The level of care and attention that I received, and the overall genuine concern for making this the best possible experience for me is honestly something that is, to use a phrase, as common as finding a diamond in the rough for consumers in this industry, and when you find people like that you are truly appreciative. I wanted nothing but the best to propose to my wife with, and yet was ill equipped to do that on my own. Thank god that I found & went with Steven's Jewelers! It is unquestionable that if I went to a normal jewelers, a Macys, or other kind of windowshopping that I wouldn't have gotten half the quality that I did and surely would have paid double the price. Steven went out of his way to explain to me the ins & outs of the industry, and what criterion to use to measure the quality of a diamond, in a way that no average jeweler could--or if they could, would--do. But Steven just cared that much about making sure I made as informed a choice as possible. I honestly feel like I could teach a comprehensive course on the industry & diamond quality now! If you are just going to a Kay's and asking about color & clarity trust me that you will be wholly uninformed. “This shop is like stepping into a bygone era of Chicago, especially with their hilarious adaption of Hopper's "Nighthawks" featuring Harry Caray and a cast of other classic characters. I went in for a watch battery replacement and the guys were enthusiastically assessing some vintage dollar bills while simultaneously negotiating with a potential buyer (on speaker phone). They were very friendly and replaced my Movado battery on the spot in less than 5 minutes for just $5--but the best part was they didn't have change to break my $20 so they actually gave it to me for free! I will definitely go back for any jewelry repair needs in the future.
