444 Makawao Ave a, MakawaoMy favorite vet on the island, I drive all the way from the Southside for them! $65 office visit (in 2024) and all pricing is reasonable. Last year, I did my Rabies Titer for Hawaii travel through them for $200ish (not including rabies vaccination which was $25ish) whereas other island vets were well over double the pricing. The staff is so friendly, responsive, and always on it. Highly recommend!

444 Makawao Ave Ste. B, MakawaoWe took my dog to these guys to get shots and a nail clipping. We assumed it would take about 30 minutes. They returned in about 5 minutes and everything was done. I should add that my dog is utterly terrified of everything. She has the most anxiety of any creature I know. - and they were so warm and patient with her. I love this vet clinic, they are so awesome.

55 Pukalani St, MakawaoStopped by the Pukalani restaurant. Empty at 430p. When we walked in, there was no one behind the counter. For a second, we thought it was closed and that they forgot to lock the door. But everyone was there. They were behind a wall lol. Inside was clean and AC was cold. The staff was very nice and took our orders promptly. We ordered the crispy pork belly special and a breaded ono sandwich. My husband didn't care for the fish sandwich. He said the fish was bland and he didn't like the lettuce. After dissecting the sandwich, he ended up adding a little shoyu and thought it tasted better. The CPB was great. It comes with Mac salad, pickled onions, cherry tomatoes and a vinegar dipping sauce. I loved it. The only thing I'd change would be the size of the pieces of pork. Would be better if it was smaller (so it can fit in the sauce container). The portion was good for $19

Serpico's Restaurant
7 Aewa Pl, MakawaoI was craving good old fashioned spaghetti but didn't want to drive down to Marco's. I've had serpico's pizza before and it was excellent so I decided to give their pasta a go. You can usually judge an Italian restaurant by their basic spaghetti and meatballs and Serpicos didn't disappoint. Pasta cooked just right. Gravy was sweet but not too tangy. And the two giant meatballs were perfectly cooked. All come with a side Caesar or tossed salad and focaccia bread. They're known for their pizza but the pasta is to die for. Next time I'm trying the fettuccine Alfredo.

Da Fish Shack
24 Kiopaa St, Makawao3.5/5 stars. This is a food truck in Hana. I got the Island Mix Grill ($23), which had seared fish, 3 pieces of coconut shrimp, rice, and broccoli. The fish was a generous piece, but it was on the drier side. The coconut shrimp was hot, fresh, and crispy, and it was lightly battered. I personally don't like coconut flavor, but it was still pretty good. The broccoli had such a great flavor - loved the sweet sauce, but there was not much broccoli in the dish. Rice was on the soggy side. Overall, a solid lunch.

24 Kiopaa St, MakawaoI actually love your pizza and I love the truck, but I was really disappointed when I went to place an online order and did not realize that you had changed your hours from 11 AM to 3 PM. It did not give me an alert until I placed my order and told me I couldn't have my order until 3 PM when I attempted to cancel it there is a thing that came up that said I cannot cancel this. I was super disappointed luckily my parents were able to come down at 3 PM and pick up the pizza I ordered or it would've just went to waste so just beware when you're ordering online that they are not open until 3 PM although they used to be open at 11

Ohana Island Grindz
3647 Baldwin Ave, MakawaoHad a fantastic breakfast on our way through town on a Bike Maui tour. I had the mini loco moco pork plate and my mom had the açaí bowl, both of which were delicious.
The ladies working were friendly and talkative, even singing along to the radio on multiple songs. Just seems like the kind of community place you want to hang out and with great food on the menu, it’s worth checking out if you’re in town.

3612 Baldwin Ave, MakawaoWe did the Road to Hana and finished up late. Towards the end, we were starving and in search of a good burger near-ish to where we were. I did a quick search and mapped us here and boy am I SO GLAD I did. This place was a gem to discover! Great food and great ambiance. Everyone left very happy. Make a point to seek Makawao out!
