About Yoga Waikiki Studio

Yoga Waikiki Studio offers refreshing and strengthening morning yoga sessions in beautiful outdoor settings and at an indoor hotel location. The primary beach class is held on the sand next to the waves at 7:00 am under the shade of a large Banyan tree, where participants get their toes in the sand as the sun comes up for a nice way to start the day. Another class takes place on the grass in majestic Queen Kapiolani Park, offering a beautiful ocean view through the palm trees that looks like paradise. Indoor sessions at the Hyatt Regency utilize straps, barre, balls, and the floor. The classes, taught since 2003, include an innovative mix of dance-conditioning, sports-stretching, and Hatha yoga, providing a full-body workout and stretching that challenges both regular practitioners and beginners. The style can be quite different from typical yoga, sometimes incorporating ropes and partner work, but remains a good workout for the body. The instructor gives clear instructions in both English and Japanese and provides individual adjustment tips throughout to ensure everyone is comfortable, safe, and can follow along correctly. A notable aspect is that the beach sessions are currently free and do not require a reservation, allowing people to wake up and decide to go. The meeting spot is at the 'Surfer on a Wave' Statue across from Honolulu Zoo, near Queen's Surf Beach where free parking is available. The overall experience is often described as wonderful and amazing, fostering a feeling of the Aloha spirit while nourishing one's connection with themselves and others.
