About New Cholon
New Cholon is a good place for overall Chinatown shopping. It is a great store with lots of Vietnamese ingredients, including fresh dishes earlier in the day, fresh herbs, and pickled carrots and daikon. It offers a great selection of cool canned, dry, ready-to-eat, grab-and-go meals, and frozen goods. It is known especially for vegetarian “meats” and frozen vegan meat substitutes at a good price and with a good selection. The store is small but spacious, very clean, and fairly clean compared to other local stores. Prices are very reasonable. They might run out of stuff sometimes depending on the season. Cash is king.

Great store with lots of Vietnamese ingredients and fresh dishes earlier in the day. The store is small and you can easily ask the ladies at the front what the prices are. Their prices are also very reasonable compared to other markets/stores in Chinatown.

My go-to market for Vietnamese and other Asian sauces. Go early for their ready-made trays and chả.
