I absolutely love this vet practice. I'm sad that Dr. Billhartz is no longer with Southport, however the rest of the amazing staff still is! My girl Gracie ABSOLUTELY LOVEEESSSS going to the vet! TRUST ME, her past vet records at another practice in Georgia tells a completely different story. Dr. Marlar is INCREDIBLE and her entire team is INCREDIBLE! I trust Murray with my babies more than I have ever trusted any other vet tech ever. He has an amazing way with the animals. Murray is amazing and so are the other vet techs there, as well. Everyone in that office genuinely cares deeply about the animals and their best wellbeing. The reception team is truly underrated! - even though everyone comments on how sweet and kind they are I don't feel those words describe them good enough - they are hands down the absolute best! They are soooooooo thoughtful, welcoming, helpful, funny and loving toward every animal that walks through their doors! I can't say enough great things about Southport but I feel that the fact that I felt the need to provide 3 reviews/updates should speak volumes. I absolutely recommend this vet practice 100%. I thank them for everything they've done for me and my beloved pets.

100% GREAT experience on 10/05/2022 - Lived in Fort Myers and when hurricane Ian hit and the entire swfl area lost power, all of the vet offices were closed and lost a lot of their medications. My 15yr old guy was needing his Cytopoint shot and Southport Animal Hospital did not hesitate when I called them and explained our circumstance and asked if they could help and give William his shot - they said no problem. We drove 2 hrs, walked in and within 15 mins we were out the door with William receiving his shot. They were so warm and welcoming and empathetic.
...
Now, fast forward to today - I permanently move to Fort Lauderdale and am in need of a vet for a new dog I adopted and my cat. Guess who I immediately call. You bet, Southport Animal Hospital! And let me tell you, with my new dog, Gracie, she has a history of aggression at her old vet office (her previous family made sure I had all of her records) ....so needless to say, I was so apprehensive about how her vet visit would go. So far, she has been to Southport Animal Hospital twice and saw Dr. Billhartz (LOVE HER!) and Dr. Bufalieri (LOVE HIM!) and both times Gracie walked out of the office confident and happy!!!! She loves loves loves Heather, Liz, and the whole reception team! And she loves Murray and all the techs!! I feel 100% confident that she is going to be taken care of properly with love, kindness and understanding of her fear issues. This office is such a blessing to me and Dr. Billhartz who is chief in command is just kindness and love. And the rest of her team reflect that. Amazing people in this office. Loving, kind and thoughtful people in this office. I'm so grateful for them all.”

“My family and I recently found a dog out in the Everglades we called so many different places for help or resources for the dog. Due to hurricane Milton most places were closed but Bayview Animal Hospital was very accommodating and got her in fast and was able to provide exceptional service. Dr.B was awesome! Thank you for the peace of mind while we find a new home for this pup.”

“I came here on April 6, 2024 after my pup had gotten stiff/fainted during a cough/hacking episode. After the 2nd occurrence at home I started calling different vets that would be open till late around 5pm, immediately after calling this office they mentioned I should bring my boy Maison in immediately as he's only 10 months old with a stage 6 heart murmur (diagnosed around 3 months old). The office staff I spoke to was so calming and reassuring and I definitely believe that is great testimony to how this office is ran because even the vet was so calming and informative. They told me they would have a room ready for the arrival of me and my pup. The vet diagnosed my pup with excess fluid build up in his lungs and recommended a few treatment options. I have been to many emergency vets, animal hospitals, specialist and regular veterinary clinics. I can say by far the treatment he received here was on of the best, they were quick, informative, kind, compassionate, honest and in my opinion AFFORDABLE. Thank you for caring for Maison!!”

“I took my 7 1/2 yr old Shihzu Bailey Mix to this South Broward Animal Hospital for his vaccines with a groupon on Saturday. I live in Coral Springs. It took about 30 minutes to get there but it was SO WORTH IT!!!!. Everyone was just wonderful. Ashley the asst was so kind to my baby because he was so scared and hiding under my chair. She was so compassionate and caring with him. She answered any questions I asked and didn't rush me. She was so knowledgeable and reassuring. The vet was just as nice and compassionate to my baby and also answered any questions I had also and took his time. I left with such a good feeling about this Animal Hospital. Then today Monday someone actually called from the vets office to see how my Bailey was feeling and make sure he did not have any reactions from the vaccines. I cannot say enough good things about this vet and his staff. I wish I could pick up this place and put it in Coral Springs. But I would not hesitate to go back if my Bailey needed to go to the vet. It was so worth the drive. I will be recommending to everyone who needs a wonderful vet and staff. Thanks again to the vet and Ashley and everyone else there !!!! Eileen S”

“This veterinarian facility was the most amazing thing I could’ve asked for. My beloved childhood dog of 17 years, Pixie, was handled with such care and compassion. I couldn’t have asked for a better end of life care for her.
I do think the Vet was a little surprised to see she was 17, and no medications!
Her paw prints came out beautifully, and the package with the card was such a perfect yet unexpected touch.
I will be recommending this place to family and friends for any future needs!
Thank you all again, from the bottom of my heart.
Love

“Dr. Proietto is amazing. She is exactly what she would want in a veterinarian during the time when you are freaking out about your baby's eyesight. She was kind compassionate and caring. She answered all of my questions and I had a ton of them, and I felt super comfortable and reassured afterwards. Dr. Diaz, was so knowledgeable and caring and took the time to explain everything to me for as long as it took. I even called days before surgery just to make sure I understood everything. And he still spent a lot of time on the phone with me going over everything again. I am beyond grateful to both of them for helping my baby see again and I don't think there are enough words to thank them enough! ?”

“The Doctors were quite kind and gave us extremely clear information on what, most likely, our pet is suffering from. The Doctors provided a logical plan for next steps, including tests and biopsies to help select the best treatment plan. The Support Staff were excellent as well.”

“If you're reading this, I'm so sorry that you're here. It sucks, but you're in the right place. Dr. Camps gave me an extra 4.5 good months with my dog. Aside from being a knowledgable doctor, she is incredibly compassionate. While I wanted to save my dog, I didn't want to torture him, so at each stage I'd ask her what she would do if it were her dog and she gave me honest feedback about each potential procedure/method. I trusted her completely and when it was clear we were losing the battle, I refused to make any decision until speaking to her. Ultimately, she helped me make peace with the heartbreaking decision to let him go with dignity. While I wish I had a better outcome to share, I couldn't have dreamed of a better doctor to fight this fight with. I hope to never be in this situation again, but if I am, I'll be calling Dr. Camps. And Dr. Camps, if you happen to see this, I am forever grateful for the extra time with Cupid.”

“I brought Rollie (1 year old mini English bulldog) into the hospital after he was not properly cared for by his Primary Vet, he was not able to properly urinate. From checking in to checking out I cannot say enough about the exceptional care and consideration we were met with by the entire staff.

Rollie is family to me & means more than anything to me. I would recommend Blue Pearl and the staff mentioned below to anyone who needs care for their animal.

Rollie received 3 surgeries completed by Dr. Frame who was there for us (Rollie & myself) through the whole process. He took time to explain everything, walk me through the process, called before surgery started, was there when I came to visit (checked in and spoke with me), and was there when I was able to take Rollie home.

Darwin & Anthony were Rollies primary nurses during his stay.. both made sure he was comfortable, had everything he needed and provided (numerous) updates anytime I requested. During check out Anthony spent 30+ minutes with me going over all aftercare, medications & questions I had.

In these times where your little friends are sick or unwell you can be left feeling pretty helpless, thankfully for me, these team members made me feel confident that Rollie was properly cared for & would get whatever help he needed to be restored to his usual lovable, playful self. He is now home & recovering.”

“I'm leaving a review particularly after seeing the rating. While I am a new customer and one of the two employees I dealt with was also new on staff, I can't say enough how helpful they were. And how well they managed to handle all my questions and the adoption of my new little kitty on top of running a store which got quite busy sometimes. There was a gentleman there servicing all of the tanks and fish, also an employee, as an aquarium enthusiast the conditions looked healthy. Kody and Nicole went out of their way to make sure I felt well taken care of. I don't usually write reviews, but anyone can have a bad day and any business can go through a tough time with their staff/customer service. I didn't find this to be the case on my first (but certainly not last) visit. I would highly recommend”

“I have been coming to VCA with all my pets since 2018. My dog Luna has always struggled with medical issues, especially terrible allergies so we are frequent flyers at the vet and have really taken advantage of their care plan. Though the cost of services may be slightly steeper at times than other veterinarians I have been too, I find it warranted. They also take care credit which I’ve taken advantage of. All staff members I have met are kind, respectful, and considerate of the pet and pet owner. We work with Dr. Kese and the passion he has for his work and animals shines through clearly. He and his staff have always been patient in answering my questions and explaining procedures. They do follow up calls to check in if they had a procedure or if they came in due to illness. As long as I am in south Florida area, I will always go to VCA as our primary veterinarian office.”

“The staff at the reception desk are very friendly. You are greeted by either a receptionist or veterinarian technician when you enter Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care. The receptionist or veterinarian technician will clearly demonstrate they are thoroughly capable of receiving you and your pet for whatever reason you are there. If you have an appointment, the staff will recognize your pet's name right away. If you do not have an appointment, the staff will register your pet quickly. The reason for my most recent visit to Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care was to see if the doctor would agree to prescribe Chloe anti-anxiety medication, ahead of our cross-country trip four days later. After Dr. Gonzalez saw Chloe was in good health, he prescribed her 10 milligrams (about the weight of a grain of table salt) tablets to ease her journey from Miami International Airport to San Francisco International Airport. After I left the examination room, and returned to the receptionist desk, the veterinary technician chatted with me some more. She echoed Dr. Gonzalez’s recommendation that I should give Chloe half a dose of that medicine first to see how Chloe would react. But it very much behooves me to share here and now that the veterinarian technician halved for Chloe all five of the 10 milligram tablets and placed the halved pieces back into the medicine container. That thoroughness of care/concern is rare and unexpected! The veterinarian technician could have simply instructed me to halve the pills myself. I’ll be returning to Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care again. The very next day I gave Chloe half a dose, to see how Chloe would react. I am happy to say Chloe reacted well to half a dose. On a follow up call with Dr Gonzalez, I was advised a full dose should do the trick to ease Chloe’s airplane trip. She rested soundly as you will see in the last image below.
The staff at Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care never have me wait a long time. Soon after we were checked in, we sit in the waiting room, and almost immediately whisked away to an examination room. In the examination room, I rarely wait more than a few minutes before a veterinarian technician asks questions about Chloe. Soon Dr. Gonzalez will come into the examination room to speak with me, and a few minutes later Dr. Gonzalez will carry out a physical examination of Chloe. When Chloe needed her rabies shot – Dr. Gonzalez was kind enough to take Chloe to another room, and quickly returned with Chloe newly vaccinated against Rabies. Dr Gonzalez recognized I would be upset witnessing Chloe’s reaction to getting a jab. A visit to Fort Lauderdale Veterinary Care is made special by the bespoke design of the waiting room, the sincere (and sweet) care from the staff, and a clear respect for your busy schedule.”
