I had a wonderful experience there, I got to visit numerous cats, and decided between 2 of them, I visited a few more times just to spend time with them both. I choose Itsy Bitsy Spider (that's what they called her) I call her Bitzy though, she was a runt and had a 1/2 tail that was all crooked and bent, but so lovable. I believe the story was some one shut her tail in a car or something as it’s 1/2 a tail and 1/2 the tail it’s bent about 30% to the side, then they left her at a fire station.
The other cat I didn't think would have a problem getting adopted because it was also lovable but with no noticeable flaws as you know sometimes people choose looks over personality so I went with the one I thought would have trouble getting a home.
The staff was nothing but gracious to me and I was thrilled with the place so much I send them donations when I can, but after the car wreck I was in last year I am on disability so I can’t donate as much as I would like to. I also dropped off some food and gave them a pink martini cat scratcher which was about 4 feet high and pink. I thought this underfunded place was simply fabulous! Yea for them! I went there in 2016 and Bitzy is still thriving.
FYI - This is a no kill shelter!

I wanted to volunteer. You are making it very difficult, by filling in long-winded forms. In order to hire a volunteer you need a more personal touch. I work as a freelance chef and a job can pop up at short notice. In your form you have to commit to a certain amount of our on the exact days that I said. I would like to come in daily and walk the dogs, clean their cages and give them love. But it wasn't met to be. I don't know, how you ever get volunteers.

Like someone else already said this place must be a money laundering I felt discriminated from the first moment I’ve walked in. I’ve been dealing with this person called Kara who only gave us attitude, well working in a shelter doesn’t make anyone knowledgeable about pets and of course other humans , in my opinion she should work in construction. Very unprofessional they tried to give us the pet they were thinking it was the right one for us so we ended up not adopting a dog. If you want to adopt a pet go to a real and trustworthy dog shelter

After almost 14 amazing years with our sweet Luna girl we had to say goodbye this week. I want to thank Abandoned Pet Rescue for doing what they do because without them we never would have found her. I cant speak on their current services as we haven’t returned since adopting her, but we will never forget the joy and comfort Luna brought to our lives. I know everyone says this about their dog but Luna was truly the best in the entire world. Her passing has left a massive hole in our hearts but i am at peace knowing she is no longer in pain❤️???

2 years flew by! It was 2 years ago I adopted Zori (now Slaine) and she's still the light of my life. I'm eternally grateful for this rescue for pairing me with my perfect match.

I truly recommend to adopt a pet, specially from APR, I started the process more than a month ago and from several rescue places APR was our favorite because they really pay attention to details to find the right pet for you.
Top notch attention especially from Luna and Alexa, the crew as well.
Thank you so much!!!

I have been volunteering for this great organization for over 4 years. They do an amazing job of taking care of the animals and finding them the best homes. You will not meet a more dedicated group of volunteers and staff that care deeply about the animals while they wait for their forever homes. If you are thinking of volunteering for an animal shelter, there are many ways you can help here. If you are thinking of adopting a cat or dog, they will help you find your new best friend that fits your lifestyle.
