I don't appreciate the "hustle" culture that Pep Boys exudes. I took my car in to Pep Boys in Brandon Florida back in August for a basic oil change and the guy at the counter told me that I had two bad tires and created such a sense of urgency that you literally would think (according to him) that I could've had a blowout on the highway at any given time. Here we are - 9 months later, and I was STILL riding around on the SAME TWO TIRES. My back brakes started squeaking - Not grinding - I want to make that very clear - so I figured well, I got some tax return money I'll just take my car to the other Pep Boys location in Brandon and I will get the back brakes replaced along with the two tires. I made it EXTREMELY clear to the guy at the counter that my car is 12 years old - I'm getting rid of it soon - I just want the most economical tires and brake pads that you have available. The initial estimate he gave me was RIDICULOUS. An ABSOLUTE insult! He quoted me $1000 for two new economical tires and back brakes - And he told me that my rotors were shot. So I politely expressed my concern with the cost and he told me that he "might be able to do a little better because he initially quoted me with some special brake package". Ummmm - EXCUSE ME?!?! I specifically came in there and made it SO clear and watered down that a five-year-old should be able to understand that I didn't want a special brake package - I specifically asked for the most economical brakes and tires - So why are you quoting me some special brake package? So the cost came down from his initial thousand dollar quote to approximately $800 or somewhere around there. I told him just forget about it - That's still WAY too much - I'm just gonna take my car and go. So instead of honoring my request to have my car back I almost felt like I was in a position to argue with this man to get my car back. First he said, "well you can sign up for one of our credit cards." Ummm - that's a HARD NO! There's a reason why I have an an excellent credit score and it certainly isn't because I open up a bunch of store cards. Then - this part BLEW my mind! He said " well why don't you just go ahead and get the brakes done today and then we can do your tires some other time..." and of course I'm thinking to myself HOLD UP - You people told me nine months ago that my two tires were so bad on that car that I could pretty much have a blowout at any time and acted like I needed to get those tires done STAT. Absolutely nothing was said about my brakes back in August because they weren't making noise (obviously). In my mind I'm thinking the most urgent thing to do on that car is the tires - Because for the past nine months you guys have been hounding me that they are just absolutely positively the baldest things you've ever seen. As you can imagine at this point I'm just feeling extremely hustled. Thinking - how in the world could they possibly think the brakes are more important than the tires? So at this point I've declined and I once again politely ask for my car back and the guy at the counter continued with a very argumentative stance and told me that I really need to get the brakes done so I lied to him and told him look - I have to run this by my boyfriend because if I overpay for this he's gonna break up with me - so you would think after two times of me asking politely for my car back he would've just given me my car but no - he has the audacity to say to me " why don't you go ahead and give your boyfriend a call right now and hand me your phone and I will talk to him..." ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!! At this point I think the guy at the counter saw that I was visibly upset so thank goodness he gave me my car back. Ohhh - but this story gets BETTER!!! I took my car to another auto mechanic shop who verified that I absolutely positively did NOT need new rotors - All I needed was basic brake pads on the back - And they put two economical tire

I've been bringing my vehicles to Pep Boys since the 1990s but lately the simple things (in this case replacing tires) that took 30 minutes in the past literally took 2.5 hours. What is the point of making an appointment if you pull walk-ins through before me? And I had the 8am opening appointment.

Quick, efficient, and decent price. They had me in and out within an hour of arriving for the appointment I was able to get online.

Use this location for fleet maintenance services every few months. Jacob and Red and everyone here are always professional and easy to deal with. The Pep Boys App and appointment set up helps to get me in and out with no hassles. Anytime I've seen them deal with customer's concerns, they explain everything in detail and only fix what needs repaired. I recommend this location to everyone I know.

Terrible experience. The big baby with the beard wouldn’t let me leave until I got an alignment with my tires. I couldn’t get the alignment because I was installing suspension that week on my own. On top of that I had road hazard but didnt grant me it because I wouldn’t get an alignment. Hope this place gets shut down like the other pep boys in the area.

Show they have items, employees confirm they should have them, but they don't have them. Bad inventory systems make customers waste time.

I went in last week to get my oil change and needed some extra repairs done. They didn’t have the extra time to do it right there so we rescheduled. Gave me a paper with the price for the repair and everything. Go today for my appointment and they tell me it’s going be an additional $200 on the price I was given. I let them know the guy last week gave me this price and they told me no! That rep was just trying to get extra work so they gave me a deal. But if that’s the case why not honor that?? It’s not my fault your employee made promises that I expect to be kept. Nothing but crooks! I’m going to look into seeing if I can take this further. I called off work to get the repair at the price I WAS GIVEN IN WRITING, and they flat out told me no. Just all around bad customer service and crook behavior. I will be taking this further so you’ll hearing from me.

Jacob called and left me a voicemail telling me that he had great news. My engine needed replacement. Absolutely ridiculous. I took it in for a high idle that took them 3 days to get a tech out. Now another shop has told me my transmission needs replacement due to no reverse, which the car was backed in so I wouldn't notice, it seems. I drove my car the the shop, and now I still have high idle and trans is damaged. Stay away from this location. "I have a little bit of great news, Richard." Absolutely ridiculous.

I have frequently serviced my vehicle(s) at Pep Boys from NJ to TX to FL and found consustemt service with all of them. Jacob and Red at store #139 were extremely helpful in replacinf my battery as well as providing a printout for services I scheduled in the near future. I find them efficient, knowledgable and polite each time I go to any shop. Prices are great also ;)
