I was here in January. During the ice climbing festival. So cool. Lots of people climbing everywhere. Didn’t make it to the falls with my 5 year old. But we saw plenty of ice Climbing. If I could be honest, my daughter could have made it if she didn’t find such a cool stick to play with.

Hiked it to the top back in March, amazing place. Part of the waterfall was frozen. Made it to the top to the tunnel, the view was breathtaking. Worth ever view and struggle. Ouray Colorado is so magical!

Must visit. Hidden gem in ouray. Make sure to also go to the high bridge trail to see the view from the bridge up top
The "Box Cañon" Falls, Ouray's own wonder of the world, is the culmination of Canyon Creek narrowing and spilling thousands of gallons a minute of water over an 85-foot falls. "Box Cañon" has been designated an important bird area by the National Audobon Society for the summer nesting grounds of the Black Swift. At this spectacular geological formation, the waterfall plummets into a narrow, quartzite canyon with walls overhanging the falls by nearly 100 feet. The Visitor's Center closes in November but the trails in Box Cañon are open throughout the winter, conditions permitting. Because of the popularity of Box Cañon as a nature viewing area dogs are not allowed within the park. Dogs are welcome on most other trails in Ouray.
