This place is beautiful and a must-visit when you are in Ouray. Went there during Winter and would like to come back in Springs, Summer and Fall.We went down to the falls first then went up to see the view of Ouray.

It was a blast to volunteer for the 2024 Ouray Ice Climbing Festival. Now, let's get in some ice.

You'll not believe once you get into the falls area how powerful the water is. Truly amazing. Hopefully on your visit, the gate is open so you can walk all the way back. If not, take the stairs down atleast. You can check out the falls from below and take in a little mist.
The "Box Cañon" Falls, Ouray's own wonder of the world, is the culmination of Canyon Creek narrowing and spilling thousands of gallons a minute of water over an 85-foot falls. "Box Cañon" has been designated an important bird area by the National Audobon Society for the summer nesting grounds of the Black Swift.
At this spectacular geological formation, the waterfall plummets into a narrow, quartzite canyon with walls overhanging the falls by nearly 100 feet.
The Visitor's Center closes in November but the trails in Box Cañon are open throughout the winter, conditions permitting.
Because of the popularity of Box Cañon as a nature viewing area dogs are not allowed within the park. Dogs are welcome on most other trails in Ouray.
