“A lot of crab boil places use seafood that's clearly been through a long cycle of freezing and thawing. The crab/shrimp/fish here is incredibly fresh and delicious. I ate the biggest king crab leg I've ever seen here, and for that I am so, so grateful.”

“Lured here by 2g2g, got a small bottle of walnut oil to try but you could just spend the same at the counter and pick an oil of your choosing. The associates were very friendly and gave free samples to try out”

“Don't judge a book ( or in this case liquor store) by its cover. Highly knowledgeable owner. Great selection of terrific wine, and the best-I repeat THE BEST single malt scotch selection in the county. Seriously nice people as well. That counts for a lot in my book.”

“We love this place. The staff is always happily pleasant and helpful. The store is exceptionally clean, stocked, compliant and secure. Shelves and products are merchandised and dusted everyday by the friendly Mr. George. From their $2500 bottles of top shelf 25 year old whiskies to fishing tackle, ice creams, chips, cigars, mixers and beach gear, this quaint stop is the place for last minute and quick pick-me-ups. Thank you, Surf Liquor and the guys, Bob and Mark, for taking care of my family and our great neighborhood for over the 10 years we've lived here.”

“I have visited The Cave twice, a week apart. The first time was for a wine pairing dinner, which we did with another couple. There were 5 courses (appetizer, salad, two entree courses, and dessert) and each dish was delicious. We decided to return a week later to see if it would be as good for just an ordinary night out. The restaurant was not too busy (it was a Tuesday) but each of the dishes we enjoyed was well prepared and very good. We ordered the Macadamia Crusted Salmon, a chicken special stuffed with goat cheese and spinach, and another chicken dish. The restaurant is attached to a wine shop, and if you don't want to sample wines by the ounce or order wine off the restaurant list, you can go into the shop and choose from literally hundreds of wines at all price points and then bring the bottle into the restaurant where they will serve the wine for a very minimal ($10) corkage fee. Done be put off by its location in an industrial park. This place is a gem! Inside it looks like a wine cave and they usually have some quiet live music at dinner time. This is definitely one of the better dinner spots in Ventura!”

“This store recently changed hands. I feel bad for the prior owners The wife was nice but the man good looking for his age but SO ugly with racist statements using the N word to make it very clear how he felt. He needed some mental health type help.Well now it's a new chapter a fresh coat of paint ( looks great!) The staff is friendly & fun. They could use more variety of cat food I think they r working on bring in other items a little at a time. It's a great asset toothed community & a good location! ( for the guy that wks at night...pigs DO fly..oink oink...lol”

“For a market & liquor store, it's a hidden gem when you realize that they're serving up hot foods and have their own little counter with quick and easy lunch items on the go. I've been coming to this spot for years to grab a quick meal as it's convenient and unique. It's easy to miss but worth it as they have nice people working here and the paninis are my ultimate favorite.Nice that they have their own small private parking lot,Fits about 4 cars I believe but also plenty of street parking. When you walk inside you'll see that it's a small shop but not overly clutter with items, it's spacious and clean. Off to the left there are plenty of sodas, snacks, beers, and regular connivence store items. To the right is a register and the booze behind where you pay. When you walk right in you'll see a large whiteboard menu with the daily food specials and regularly priced items for breakfast and lunch. When your ready to place your food just walk closer up to the counter and they'll ask what you want. You wait for them to prep your order and they'll call it out when ready. Grab your food and pay at the main register it's easy peasy.I keep coming back for their pesto Turkey panini. It's hard to find a good panini on this side of town but this unassuming little market has some of the best ones hands down. Also reasonable prices and the sandwich is stacked with deli meat. A great value for the price. I've also tried their tacos and tamales, they are average, and good but I'd highly always recommend the sandwiches above all else.As I mentioned earlier service is really good and both the gals cooking up the food and the different people working behind the register have always been super nice and approachable. Feel good local vibes, and I'm sure you've passed by this spot plenty a times but make sure you check them out because they are the perfect spot for that on the go lunch or to grab some quick snacks and drinks.”

“The clerk can seem a little stoic, but I like him and think he is a friendly caring person. I like it when he prays/sings and think it is beautiful his devotion. Coming from a different culture I have had friends of mine misunderstand him. It must be tough to be a Muslim in America. I am in awe of most Muslim's devotion to their faith and how God/Allah is so often praised and part of their life. He is very helpful and I hope to visit his store more and hope I am being respectful in guessing his faith, because I haven't actually asked him about it.”

“The only reason I give it a 4 is the lay out is horrible! way too crowded and confusing when trying to figurr out where to stand.HOWEVER DONT LEAVE YET!!! this place had the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE IVE HAD AT ANY LIQUOR STORE IN VENTURA!!!! I have to use a cane or walker to get around & with tbe lack of accesability in this store the gentleman behind the counter went out of his way with a FRIENDLY attitude ( so many times when needing help the sales person will be grumpy definetly letting u know they are being bothered) I was really impressed with the service and attitude!!!!”

“Very, helpful Owner. I've, probably been going to this place for like 45 years but he's the man that owns the place. I, went recently with my son and the owner straight up was like hey been missing you that's what I think about local places when they actually recognized their customers that have been going there on a regular basis. That's, why I consider Ventura my home when people actually recognize you wherever you go”

“Everyone here is very friendly... they are currently in the middle of an ownership change... I tried editing their hours here, unsuccessfully... they close @10pm, (I believe, Sun-Thurs)... Fridays, and Saturdays, pretty sure they're open until 11... Email I received said that I claimed they were closed Monday-Saturday...☹... not the case... Whatever, Google!”

“Great selection of Whiskys and Whiskeys. Limited selection of cognacs. Very limited wine selection. Reasonable selection of liqueurs. Very poor selection of things like Bloody Mary mix. A good place to stop for sort of things you are not going to find in a supermarket.”

“This sweet little liquor is located just across the avenue from Ventura College. Every time I visit, I think, man, I wish there would have been a cool little liquor store across the street from me when I was in college. When I did my undergrad work there were no places to buy booze anywhere near campus. Students at VC have it made. If they find themselves in a boring class they can duck out the back, walk over and get a beer, and be back in class before the professor even noticed they were gone. School is infinitely more interesting when you have a good buzz. And you know, this store is about a lot more than just booze. They sell all kinds of items here. It's sort of like a mini mart. I love perusing the aisles. If you are like me and love playing with fire, this place has you covered. They sell Bic Lighters, DuraFlame logs, and two kinds of Kingsford briquettes. Just remember what ol' Billy Joel said, "The closer you get to the fire, the more you get burned. But that won't happen to us." If you need toilet paper to TP someone's house, they sell Kirkland brand. If you need it for bathroom purposes, they sell the good stuff, Charmin. You'll be happy to know they don't enforce Charmin's 'No Squeeze" policy. They sell Kleenex too, the Ultra Soft kind. If you are planning on killing someone, they have everything you will need to clean up the murder scene. They sell Pine Sol, Clorox Bleach and paper towels. Bloody hands and clothes? Don't worry, they have Dove, Dial and Irish Spring hand soap, as well as laundry detergent. I'm not really sure how they justify the "Deli" part of their name. They have a lot of food products, but this is no delicatessen in the traditional sense of the word. But they do sell Top Ramen, though, so there's that. And canned meats. Man, they've got a big selection canned meat: Spam, Jamonilla, two kinds of Corned Beef, Albacore tuna, Boneless Ham, and Pulled Pork. Move over, Arby's! Other canned food items include: La Costeña sliced jalapenos, Rosarita Refried Beans, 2 kinds of Chili (Dennison's and Stagg), Hormel Tamales, Sun Vista Pinto Beans and Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli. They have S&W Organic Black Beans, and Organic Garbanzo Beans, and Del Monte Whole Kernel Corn and Cut Green Beans. Plus they have a selection of Progresso and also Campbell's soups including Chicken Noodle and Cream of Mushroom. And they have canned organic mushrooms too. Button mushrooms only though, no psychedelics. If you are visiting from Northern California, you'll feel right at home when you see they carry Rice-A-Roni, the San Francisco Treat. If you lucky enough to have a Hot Date, you can find a lot of personal care items here, including Shaving Gel, Shampoo, Deodorant and prophylactics. If you are of the female persuasion, you'll be happy to know they also sell Feminine Hygiene products. If your Date is Less Than Hot, don't even worry dog, they have just about every kind of alcohol you could imagine. They'll definitely have something to get you through it. My advice, check out the Margarita fixin's. They've got a really nice variety. If you are so socially awkward you can't even manage to get a damn Date, you'll be relieved to discover they have a surprisingly large selection of soft core porn. If you are a little kid, or just an immature adult like me, you'll appreciate the candy aisle here. Real nice selection of candy, mints and gum. You need some Big League Chew bubblegum? They've got it. But the thing I like most about this store is it is a Lucky Lotto retailer. I always try to buy my Scratchers and Lotto tickets here. “They had a wide variety of high-quality wines. One of my favorite features of the wine shop was the ability to try the wine before buying it. Staves will assist you in selecting the best wine for your needs. This wine shop is fantastic!”

“Went in to look at their whiskey selection and walked out with three bottles. All fairly priced and they even gave me a glass and a shaker plus a mini bottle. Can't ask for anything more. This was my experience so I'm sharing it with people and hopefully they make their own decision of going in. I'll be back to get other bottles I need”
