“Room was good but I did see some places were dirty. Service was alright bc the person that help us in the front desk was asking deposit if I didn’t have a credit card I just had my debit card so ask for $150 cash deposit when I called they didn’t mention me anything.

Rooms: None”

“My husband and I stayed there for our 10th anniversary and we could not have been more pleased. Upon arrival the reception clerk not only upgraded us (due to our anniversary) but also sent up a bottle of bubbly that was waiting for us when we walked in to our room. When he heard we had three kids he gave us fun sand toys for them and when we arrived at dinner that night (at the hotel restaurant) he had noted that it was our anniversary and they made the whole night special. We felt like the entire staff went out of their way to make our stay exceptional and it is still one of our favorite memories. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants an excellent and memorable vacation to stay here. You will not be disappointed! You will be wowed.”

“I used to be a regular at Shutters but then had a number of service mishaps that drove me to other properties in the area, most often the Fairmont. But I decided to give it another try. It's a famous property in Santa Monica on the beach, an amazing location, and a great place from which to enjoy the culture and sites of the area.I stayed in a lovely suite with a balcony and, although their material claimed it had a beach view, that was an exaggeration. It was actually a view of the parking lot and you could barely see the beach.Unfortunately, I once again had some service issues with the specifics of what was supposed to happen for a special event, which I had outlined in two-way electronic correspondence which they had confirmed. The manager apologized and was very diligent in trying to remedy the situation, so I will give them credit for that, though the communication error among their staff that caused this service mishap was a hotel management 101 mistake and not what I would expect from a true luxury brand. From the standpoint of a recommendation, I still recommend the property for its on site services and location. I do feel that they are committed to high quality service, but somehow I've been unlucky and am personally not motivated to try again. I've had no such issues in my last visits to the Fairmont Santa Monica, which I would recommend more highly.”

“Location: A+ Service: A+ Value: B+ Hard product: A Love the art deco vibes. Highly recommend this hotel you feel like you're a celebrity. Service is upscale but not overly pretentious. Rooms all have dysons, nice balconies and great floor plans. Even the smallest rooms are over 400 sq. feet. Several house cars, including a rolls. Diamond breakfast is good. Rooftop is restaurant is good but pricey. Overall I recommend this place, for a gateway or a vacation.”

“I came to the restaurant at the Georgian hotel.I want to commend the Georgian restaurant staff and management. I had the pleasure of having a cocktail, fries and a latte in the terrace today. Every single staff member I came across from the hostess, to the waiters and waitresses, were some of the kindest restaurant/hotel staff I have ever come across. That typically happens with solid management and leadership- so thanks to you and your staff for whatever you are doing that helped make my time with The Georgian a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back and will bring a group sometime!Food & drinks: Great restaurant - ambiance, views and food”

“This hotel was such a pleasant surprise. The price is very reasonable especially considering proximity to Santa Monica and LA. There is street noise but it isn't horrible. I was simply amazed at the unique style of an older hotel. Clean, colorful, and cost conscious!”

“Beautiful, well maintained boutique sized property with large well decorated suites and good service. Built around a central courtyard with a heated pool and hangout area, it’s a nice vibe. The restaurant was small and overpriced but shockingly good food. Decent location, walk right along the ocean view, walking path, 1 mile to Santa Monica pier.”

“Just stayed at Santa Monica Proper Hotel for the first time this past weekend and all I can say is WOW! I’m an interior designer and Kelly Wearsler lover so it’s been on my bucket list to stay here and it did not disappoint! From the Spa, to the design, food, amenities, staff, EVERYTHING was absolute perfection! The staff were the friendliest I’ve experienced in a long time at a hotel. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are very sound proof so you will sleep like a baby here which is very important to me. The hotel is absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to return again soon!Rooms: So incredibly beautiful and comfortable. The room was huge because we got a complimentary upgrade so it had a full entryway and more than enough room for our 4 suitcases. Extremely comfortable beds and soundproof room!Walkability: Great location and only a few blocks from Santa Monica pierFood & drinks: Wonderful food. We tried breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktails and loved them all!Noteworthy details: Every single piece in this hotel is intentionally placed and selected as part of the design aesthetic .”

“The most charming bed and breakfast! This home was built in 1910 by Thomas McCall and it is a beautiful historic home lovingly converted into a b and b. The hostess Dominique was warm and welcoming, check in was quick, we were a short walk from the beach and places to eat and the home itself was charming. Beds were comfortable and everything was squeaky clean. The breakfast was delicious with asparagus omelet and a spicy pear bread I'm going to go home to recreate. Can't say enough good things about our stay and I hope we come back someday!”

“The room is very big. Comfortable bed. The shower had a hole in the front to turn on the shower prior to getting in, but it just allowed for water to spill out when you're showering. Not really smart when they put it in. Valet parking is $65 and doesn't offer self parking so that was annoying.”

“I typically stay in Santa Monica hotels along the beach - but stayed 3 nights at The Ambrose this visit due to location. Much better than I had expected. Great Location. Very quiet. Good Service. Would stay again. Easy walk to a number of restaurants along Wilshire - Milo & Olive is my favorite. Tartine across the street is great for breakfast/lunch.Nearby activities: Restaurants - Milo & Olive, Tartine. Others on Wilshire.”

“Rooms have cracks in the walls and wallpaper peeling a bit, the bathroom was tiny, BUT the rooms are VERY clean and the beds are comfortable. Even tho it was dated I would stay there again.

The service was extraordinary! I cannot say enough about Fred and all the staff that I had interactions with. Fred goes way above and beyond.

I was on the road side and was not bothered by the traffic at all. I was by the stairs and was not distrubed by noise.

Being on Sepulveda you have easy access to all throughways. Venice was 20 minutes, La Brea Tar Pits were 20 minutes, the Getty was 20 minutes, Will Rogers beach was a bit further not sure how far because we went to Westwood (10 minutes) right after the beach. Marina Del Ray was 20 minutes.

The parking garage is a nightmare I am so thankful that I did not wreck my rental so if renting a car get a prius or something small because that gargage is very difficult to maneuver.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay there and will never be able to say enough about how wonderful Fred was as well as the rest of the staff that I had encounters with.”

“4.5 stars - It's a motel.

The house lives from the charm and what the operators exude. Very friendly and just sweet.
The rooms are okay in terms of cleanliness and furnishings.
The front rooms are sometimes very noisy at night (this is not due to the accommodation but to the people driving cars and motorbikes). There are also rooms facing the inside with access to the small garden.

Great location: Downtown, 3d street, pier can be reached on foot in max. 18 minutes.
Burgers and coffee reachable in 3 minutes.

“Mostly everything was ok BUT paper plates, cups and plastic cutlery for the restaurant was a total disappointment!!! Front desk gave us a very poor answer blaming the pandemic… and also said all the Hamptons standardized serving food like this! The hamptons breakfast table looked like this! :(Rooms: The room was clean and in good conditionFood & drinks: Everything from the bottle, no natural food. No fruit, pretty bad food and paper plates and plastic cutlery FATAL!”

“For me, the best feature of this hotel is its location. It is a stone's throw to the beach, Santa Monica Pier, shopping, and Venice Beach. Beach bikes are available for use. The restaurant has approachable food and an excellent waitstaff.”

“The first time here Service: The front desk staff was nice but had trouble finding our reservation in their system. The valet and bell hop were also great at providing great service and were so nice welcoming us to the hotel. Food: We ate at the hotel at the penthouse restaurant located on the top level of the hotel. The views of the beach and the city are great. It's a big space with a big bar. During the day, it's bright and light with plenty of sun coming through the windows. At night, it's dim lighting and accent lighting that makes it feel like a totally different place. The food is great and high-end. I have to say it was a joy tasting good quality food. The drinks were a little weak but not too bad. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is great throughout the hotel. The spaces are nicely decorated and well designed. They offer free golf carts to get around the city, and the gym is free for the first 4 hours. The other guests were great, and we had no issues. Location: It's located in Santa Monica, CA, near the beach Room: We got the Malibu suite, which was amazing, and it was big with a separate living room space. The bed was comfortable, and the closet was a walk-in, and the bathro was huge with a separate shower, toilet roo, and tub. The tub was missing the stopper, so we could use it, and the refrigerator wasn't getting cold, so we couldn't store things in it. The entry door is digital and allows you to use different lighting to determine your status. The furniture was really nice and the room was so nice aesthetically. The view was amazing with the ocean, mountains, and the city in your view. Price: It was on the high end. The Malibu Suite room was $1,000 for one night, and they charge $25 an hour for a late checkout. The restaurant was also pricey but worth it. And there is a separate fee for valet when you checkout. Just heads up.”

“Absolutely loved our stay here at the Days Inn in Santa Monica. Manny should get employee of the year award and a promotion he has the best customer service ever. Days Inn manager if you are reading this please give Manny a raise, and make sure to keep him around. Loved our 10 day stay here.”

“This has become my go to hotel for when I visit the LA area. The staff is awesome, the hotel is clean and modern, and it's in a very convenient location for freeway access and fuel. It's a relatively short drive to almost everything I enjoy doing in the area, and its only a 10-15 minute drive (or Uber ride) to Universal. Now, I don't usually look for extras in a hotel beyond a nice place to sleep and shower, but there is also a nice patio area and pool, as well as a convenient and private underground parking garage, which feels a lot better than leaving my car parked outside somewhere overnight. The beds are comfortable, the showers are nice, and the prices are reasonable. Everything I could want in a hotel!”

“I decided to book this hotel for our Los Angeles trip and I'm glad I did!It was a struggle to find a well-reviewed hotel that included breakfast and parking, so when we found the Gateway Hotel it almost seemed too good to be true, but it lived up to my expectations. The location is good, right on Santa Monica Boulevard but not immediately surrounded by tourist shops or anything like that. It's about a mile to the pier. The parking is on two underground levels and it is very tight, I could see full size SUVs or trucks having difficulty down there. The parking can be included in your rate, so if you need to park make sure that's in your rate. The rooms were very well furnished and kept very clean. The staff was always kind when we interacted with them. There was some street noise, but I think it was more than acceptable. There was no noise from other rooms or the hallway. The bathroom was good but I do like rooms where the toilet and bathtub are separate and at Gateway it was all one room. My only wish was for higher water pressure. The SOCALO restaurant in the hotel is excellent as well and they have happy hour specials! Definitely worth popping in there, even if it's just for drinks and appetizers.”
