70 W Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra MadreThe Buccaneer is quite the spot, I’ve been going there on and off for well over 12 years but hadn't been there in a while. Now I know why they call it the Best Dive Bar in LA. The past few times I’ve gone recently, it seemed different, a little better, and the only thing I can attribute that to is the staff. They were great. They immediately made me feel welcome and comfortable. (Maybe they thought I was somebody else? Somebody famous? lol) Vanessa the bartender is awesome. She’s very fun and professional. The guy, Tom, I’m not sure if he’s security, a barback or manager, but whatever he is, he really keeps the place running. I lost my wallet there and got a Facebook message from him an hour later, letting me know he found it. He actually went out of his way to search for me and get it back to me. That's next level service. The atmosphere is fun. Although it’s a “dive bar” the staff seem to take great care in keeping it clean. It makes me realize that the only way to make a dive bar stand out above others is the staff. These guys seem like they really care about the place and the customers, which is rare these days. I’ll be going back more frequently now, and I’ll be bringing some friends. Let’s just hope I can get that strawberry lemonade Booshcraft I love the next time I’m in there.

My Friends Cafe
1 Kersting Ct, Sierra MadreWanted to try out a new acai place in the area, my wife suggested this place, which sounded fun. Love the theme of Friend and the names. Short wait, only one couple in front of us. The cashier was friendly and attentive, informed me of the seasonal fruit of my "Joey Bowl." The almond butter looked watery and not very much. Didn't like the inconsistency of the amount of acai in both our bowl, she got like two third of her cup and I dot like one quarter. My wife's bowl was also not done right, didn't have cacao nibs on top or bowl even filled to the top with fruits or toppings. Might give them another try incase they had an off day as I did enjoy my bowl. Hopefully they make it better next time.

The food is soo good every single time we go! The service is great too!! Servers are always there tending to customer needs at all times!!! The Only Place In Town
110 W Sierra Madre Blvd, Sierra Madre4.5/5 Extra points for great service! The wait staff is always so kind and do their best to be attentive with how popular this spot is. Love their seating options and has a beautiful small town vibe. Bowl of Chili 4.75/5: okay, hear me out. I'm definitely biased because I love chili but there is just something about their version that just has the perfect amount of coziness cooked in. I always adjust to light onions, regular cheese, and also get some cheese toast on the side. If I'm struggling to decide what to eat at work this is what I default to. I have to actively exercise self-control so I don't get it multiple times a week. Arroyo Wrap 4/5: This wrap made me change my mind on avoiding blue cheese. The blue cheese is light and it feels like I'm eating a great chicken salad (in a wrap). I am guilty of usually ordering fries as my side with this. Fig Burger (I can't recall the actual name!) 3.75/5: The caramelized onions were so good and really enhanced the goat cheese and fig reduction or vinaigrette? It was very rich for me but I'm a sucker for trying anything fig-related so I'm glad I tried this! This was on their specials menu if you have a hard time finding it.

It's a small with lemon themed decor befitting of its the name. I highly recommend that you order ahead of time then come to the restaurant to enjoy your meal:

Wistaria Restaurant and Bar
44 N Baldwin Ave, Sierra MadreI came to Wistaria for a large group event that was held outside on their covered back patio. The space was comfortable and easily fit the 100+ people who were there. A friendly and hardworking staff keenly made their way through the crowd with plates of finger foods ranging from deviled eggs to bruschetta, chicken skewers, smoked salmon on blinis, mini croque monsieur sandwiches, meatballs, and a few others. Wines and soft drinks were also passed, and there was no let-up at all, which is unusual -- there was plenty of food and drink for all. The quality of the food was well above what one would expect at a "catered affair," and the kitchen deserves major kudos for producing such a wide variety of great tasting dishes in such volume and at such speed. And again, the staff was spot on at all times, with plenty of servers working the party so it never felt like you had to look for someone. Given how well they handled this weekday, afternoon event, I will absolutely return very soon for a proper lunch or dinner inside their space. I'm sure it'll be a lovely meal.
