Animal Hospital of Soquel
2651 Soquel Ave, Santa CruzIncredibly caring and competent staff. The waiting room is much better than other vet hospitals I've been. They do a good job of spacing their appointments and taking people on time. The waiting room is comfortable to wait in and you never have to wait more than a few minutes.

Adobe Animal Hospital of Soquel
1600 Soquel Dr, Santa CruzI have brought my Golden Retriever to Adobe since I moved here five years ago and I am fortunate to have them nearby. The front office is friendly and responsive when I call or bring my dog in. Dr. Bannerman is Cooper's vet and she is great with him and very responsive to calls, email, and during visits. Because of the people, he loves going to the vet even if it includes shots or exams.

2585 Soquel Dr, Santa CruzThank goodness for Dr Nicki DVM at the Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital . I brought my 8 month old Boxer mix ,Rocky, in the early evening on a Sunday. Rocky had gone into sneezing fits after digging in some dirt. Dr Nicki DVM skillfully removed a thorn from deep inside Rocky"s left nasal passage. We really appreciate the wonderful attention that our pets get at the SCVH,and thank you again Dr Nicki, for a job well done.

Harbor Veterinary Hospital
2450 17th Ave #125, Santa CruzDr. Hoban's knowledge is deep which matters when it comes to our furry family. With decades of experience, one can feel confident that the medical treatments/options available are top rate!! Dr. Wells is also world class with an incredible bed-side manner to match. This office does not talk down to you or look to nickel and dime you for every little thing. The front office is always professional and courteous, some of the best customer service I have experienced when it comes to veterinary care. As a client you really feel like they are listening to your concerns as you are never rushed. When it comes to surgery or getting a second opinion, my brother drives his dog 6 hours just to come to Harbor Vet. That's how special this place is.

Kitty Hill Resort For Cats
126 Vernon St, Santa CruzI boarded our first cat here about two years ago and am finally getting around to writing the review. She was a kitten of a few months the first visit and just shy of 8 months the second visit. The staff clearly know cats. Both times I left my cat here, she came back more affectionate and mellow. This is where I will leave my cats (as I now have 4 total since then) if I travel and can't find someone to come to my home. Theydeserve 5 stars plus. As a new cat owner, I tried a boarding place that boarded both cats and dogs instead of Kitty Hill to save money. Big mistake. At the OTHER boarding place my kitten returned depressed, lethargic, fearful, and very skittish. Please don't board your cats where there are dogs too. The experience is extremely stressful for your cat- more than it already is not being home with their family and home they know. The other boarding place has been reviewed also.

The Velvet Coat
7 Lyle Way, Santa CruzIf you’re trying to find a day-care on your busy work days or a boarding service for upcoming trips, Velvet Coat is the place to go! But be aware, when you dial the number, Shannon has some important questions prepared for you. You might even have to drive up there for an initial consultation. You’ll have to give Shannon a through overview of your canine friend — how they are physically, emotionally and behaviourally. You’ll have to provide her with the updated vaccine records as well as information regarding the animal hospital you take your dog to, or the doctor your dog has been seeing, and what medications your dog is on. It will also be useful to share with Shannon some pictures and videos of your dog, so that she has a clearer sense of who they are and how they are. But, please, please don’t be discouraged! Shannon is doing this for the sake of your beloved canine friend and the health and safety of all the other dogs under her care. We all have very concrete sense of how infectious diseases work nowadays. I’m sure you don’t want your dog to get sick or have any potential unpleasant experience while you’re away. When in doubt, please kindly put yourself in the shoes of the others whose dogs are currently staying at Velvet Coat.As a socially responsible person who truly cares about their dog (and any cute little animals in general), you won’t have trouble answering those questions and getting all the necessary documents (e.g., vaccine certification). By now, you probably would have paid a visit to Velvet Coat. I’m sure you and your canine friend are equally impressed (perhaps by slightly different aspects). You’ll then have to get your friend’s luggage ready. Shannon will give you a clean container for the food and snack needed for the length of the stay. And she will be making a detailed list for every single thing you sent with your dog. Of course, you’re more than welcome to use your own container and make your own list.A large proportion of Shannon’s fringe and freezer is devoted to those who enjoy fresh food. So don’t hesitate to pack those in. A detailed feeding instruction will also be very helpful. If your dog is familiar with the slow-feeders or treat/food puzzles, free free to take them as well. Shannon will make sure your dog feels at home. There’re no cameras like some other dog kennels that keep dogs in crates most of the time. Rather, imagine your dog stays at this resort, where dogs of different sizes and preferences can be engaged in different activities (or simply lounging) at the same time in different places. And because everybody here have passed the “rigorous interviews”, you know it’s clean, safe and friendly. Your dog gets to join the club of their choice, and is very likely going to make great friends here. Shannon will send you some picture and videos along with informative reports of what your friend was busy with during the day. If she notices any health or behavioral issues, she’ll intervene to protect your dog as much as she can. Note that she asked for your vet’s information so if you happen to be long distance away, she can get in touch with your vet if necessary. Plus, Shannon worked as a vet tech for many years!Trust me, I was just as skeptical/confused in the beginning. It turned out, I became a much better care giver to my own dog through talking to and learning from Shannon. I will not consider a different place to send our dear canine friend. I’m grateful that we found Velvet Coat!

Hidden Peak Teahouse
1541 Pacific Ave, Santa CruzSuch a beautiful experience! Very beginner friendly and such a peaceful atmosphere. They do ask that you be digital free for the time you are there inside, so if you’re looking for a spot to reconnect or go on a first date, this is the place! Everyone was super friendly and they offer games to play. Also a good place to just sit and drink tea while reading a book! It’s 16 dollars for the table and then you pay for the tea ranging from 5-23 dollars that will literally last you for hours! And at the end of the experience if you have not been there for long, they’ll wrap the leaves for you to take home! Love love this place!!

1001 Center St #1, Santa Cruz04.18.24 Service was great, the young ladies working there were friendly and helpful, thank you to them! Location, interior/exterior, decor, seating, lighting were all 5+ stars, such a nice large, laid back environment to sit and work on your computer or for chat/get together w.friends.Now the bad; the hot Americanos were terrible. Tasted watered down, had a slight salty aftertaste. Thankfully did not buy a bag of beans from them. For amazing coffee we like Black Oak Coffee in Ukiah or Peet's in Scott's Valley. Avoid Starbucks as their beans (except for Blonde) is too bitter & acrid.

VISIT BY APPOINTMENT!, 145 Thin Edge Rd, Santa CruzWe recently inquired in making a new addition to our family, by appointment only via facebook! Diane (the owner) was very professional and very knowledgeable! I’m so happy we took the drive and made the decision to go to Furball Critters instead of a corporation pet store because she handles her pets daily with love and care, we ended up purchasing 2 pets, they are so tame, calm, my children have not been nibbled or bitten! I highly recommend visiting Miss Diane! These pets are her babies and she cares about the homes they go to, so do your research have ur children do a book report on their desired pet, check local shelters, and then book an appointment with Furball Critters! ???
