Roussopoulos Gary L DVM
Santa CruzThere is no one like Gary. He can tame wild beasts and doctor their pets, too! He is excellent with animals, of all sorts. He never suggests to spend your life savings on temptation treatments for animals. I thing that they appreciate him for not telling the pet "owners" to practice heroics. I can not speak highly enough of Dr. Gary. Neither can all the pets that I have brought to him over the decades. Kindness, gentleness, sincerity, caring, intuative, and healer.

Gustin - Van Every Mobile Veterinary Medicine
226 Calcita Dr, Santa CruzAs a first-time cat parent navigating the learning curve with my kitten, Ozzy, Marc and Christine were the perfect fit for us. They both showed incredible patience and kindness, especially toward me as I learned the ins and outs of kitten care. Ozzy suffers from motion sickness, making car rides challenging, but Marc and Christine provided thoughtful solutions and medication to ease his symptoms. They made each visit easy and stress-free, helping with shots and all aspects of Ozzy’s medical care.
It’s clear that Marc and Christine genuinely love animals and understand the concerns of pet parents, which made us feel completely at ease. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for caring and knowledgeable veterinary professionals.

Pacific and Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialists
2585 Soquel Dr, Santa CruzI highly recommend Pacific and Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialists for your pet's emergency needs. My german shepherd/lab-mix dog Betty is a relentless competitor when it comes to ball catching, but she doesn't always take care when landing after jumping into the air to catch a ball mid-toss. On Saturday after ball play, she began limping and obviously had an injury to her front right arm or shoulder. Dr. Shishida performed a complete assessment and shared that in her experience, she did not believe Betty's arm was broken. Although she offered to take an x-ray to confirm, I really appreciated her assessment (which was exactly correct) and reassurance that starting with pain meds and rest was a reasonable (and less costly) approach to treating Betty's injury. My experience with all staff members and techs were very positive as they exhibited great care and empathy for Betty's injury. It was overall a very good experience.

Heritage Kennel
201 Mountain View Rd, Santa CruzHave used heritage kennel a few times for our Italian mastiff and he is such a clingy dog he doesn't come home nervous or anxious. He seems to be fine. He has a skin condition and this last time I took his cone with him so that he wouldn't lick his wounds raw and he came home his skin was a lot more clear which means they definitely coned him when he was alone or kept him busy not licking which made me happy! Definitely our go to!

The Velvet Coat
7 Lyle Way, Santa CruzWe've been taking our beloved French Bulldog, Ricky Bobby, to Shannon at The Velvet Coat for about a year now. He goes a couple days a week to daycare. We drop him off in the morning and pick him up in the afternoon. We had a couple timing requests and Shannon was able to accommodate us. Ricky Bobby LOVES going to daycare! He's happy when we drop him off and he's happy when we pick him up. Due to being a Frenchie, he needs a little extra care. He likes to play until he drops! And that isn't always the best for him. We know that Shannon calms him down when it is needed, and we really appreciate that! For boarding we typically try to leave him with a family member. When we're unable to do that, the only other call is The Velvet Coat. We know that he is going to be safe and well cared for and completely loved. That means everything when you're on vacation! I can actually relax knowing my precious doggy is well taken care of.

MJA Vineyards -- Westside Tasting Room & Cellar
328 Ingalls St, Santa CruzExcellent wines, excellent staff, always a pleasure to come to MJA. Marin, John, Ford, all the folks always take the time to really talk about what they are pouring in a way that is unpretentious and always educational. I love the nicknames - Hotflash, Still Horny - the sense of humor and the Aloha spirit is everywhere. These folks work really hard to create an excellent product and an excellent experience. Movie nights are super fun, often there is live music, and we always meet the most interesting and intelligent people. Their tasting room on the summit also rocks!

Sante Adairius • Santa Cruz Portal
1315 Water St, Santa CruzTo finish out our trip, we stopped at Sante Adairius in Santa Cruz. We had been to the Oakland location, but this was on the way (and had, as Brookies called it, Unauthentic Detroit Style Pizza). We enjoyed some pours and some pizza while we did a little bit of work. For food: Brookies is banging. We started with the Sourdough Pretzel. It had a nice color to hit, unique shape, and was served with House Beer Cheese and Mustard. But for the main show we got the Pepperoni with Red Sauce, Mozzarella, Brick Cheese, and Parmigiano. We added Jalapeno and Hot Honey to make it banging. For beers, lots of small pours. Final Thoughts: A Blend of Bourbon Barrel Aged Barleywines. Beauty Sleep: A Saison Oak Aged with Raspberries. Saison Bernice: The OG. A Farmhouse Ale with multiple yeast additions including Brettanomyces. Absolutely perfect. Fallen Bough: A blend of Barrel Aged Belgian Blondes. Mizunara Beyond Forever: I gave in and got the Private Press beer. It was a Rye Barrel Aged Stout with Vanilla and conditioned on Mizunara. New Brighten: A West Coast IPA hopped with Simcoe, NZ Cascade, and Chinook. Animal Dance Party: A Hazy IPA hopped with Citra, Nelson Sauvin, and Galaxy Hops. Gretchen: A perfectly brewed Marzen. _____
