“Thank you to the management and Ben. We had reservations for several months. On the day we were to show up for our rooms, we had a medical emergency and had to cancel our reservations. Even though we were not legally entitled to get a fee-free cancellation, Belle Notte Inn did not charge us.Thank you for being so professional and compassionate.Ron Emilio”

“Perfect location for accessing all the fun activities in Santa Cruz! Jane is such a sweet lady! She is so friendly and takes the time to walk the property with you and explain what all is around to do. She truly cares about her guests stay and their comfort. The hotel is a cute little vintage motel stay, very clean rooms with a “comfort of home” feel. We will definitely be back!”

“Absolutely a pleasure staying here. Its location is about 5 minutes from the epicenter of fun on the beach, by foot. This historic house was built by a developer for himself who also designed and built the wharf on the bay. This is the house where he overlooked his progress at night with a cigar and a whisky, I imagine. The property is kept in immaculate shape. It’s preserved all of the old world architecture but with modern amenities, for example in our #5 suite, an outdoor private hot tub. The room was brilliantly kept, and the hallways stairs open up to a beautiful stained glass skylight.Special shoutout to Mary, whose hospitality was second to none. She is the master chef that puts breakfast together in the morning. She is amazing at her job, and she is a fountain of conversation.I will be back, my wife and I loved Santa Cruz (first visit) and will absolutely set reservations for this place again.”

“Positive: Great location. Walked to boardwalk and downtown. Receptionist was nice and welcoming. Check in was easy. Shower had dual shower head.Room for improvement: The rooms could use new materials or updated. Walls seem thin. Could hear guests upstairs and next door.”

“The Islander Motel has everything I needed. It's clean and comfortable. The room is decently sized. There is a table and chairs by the window so you can sit and catch cool breezes. The bed is very, very comfortable and the motel is pretty quiet. The location is perfect and convenient to everything Santa Cruz has to offer. I would definitely recommend this place.”

“So this would be a three times I’ve stayed here in the last year and wished I had remembered how amazing this place is after my first stayI’ve stayed at other hotels and even Hilton Scott’s Valley (which was by far the worst one) and I’m an honors member!I really loved the room I stayed in last night too because of the location of the room.Everyone was just really outstanding and my room smelled clean and not overpowered with harsh cleaning products but a fresh smell:)I wish it was closer to downtown but there are downsides to being in downtown. There are houseless individuals around there but I’ve not encountered any on the property and if you stay downtown Santa Cruz proper, believe me, you will get wayy more of those and dangerous ones hanging out in the parking areas, lobbies, etcThere was a glitch in the card reader when I checked in last night but it seems to be going on everywhere lately. It was taken care of soon enough. The front desk folks go out of their way to accommodate, especially Rebecca! :)The groundskeeper accidentally dropped a bunch of leaves and debris on my car as he was trimming trees above but he cleaned it off and actually washed my car and another housekeeper helped him to dry it off with clean cloths!! So, these folks are just great! Also they don’t upcharge you and you won’t find a bunch of fees that creep up at check out.The price was was perfect, rooms were so clean and the bed could use a softer topper but otherwise I’m just as happy as a clam and will stay there again soon and tell all my family and friends about it too! Thanks again and I always book straight away with the hotel property staff, never any other third party?”

“We stayed here on 12/16/23. The hotel staff was very accommodating and went out of their way for us. We were in town for a special event and we did get there before check in time. Also my Boyfriend has a short term disability of walking. I requested a downstairs because of this. Unfortunately there was no queen size downstairs rooms available. So they gave us a king size room. That was the greatest thing they did. The room was amazing overall we had a great stay. Thank you again for a wonderful stay and experience. I know this, we ever come back for a trip I will definitely stay here again.”

“Arrived yesterday afternoon and there was a mix up with our ADA room. Naomi at the front desk was on it immediately. She upgraded us to an ADA suite. We had to wait for it to be cleaned, so she offered us complimentary drinks while we waited. We have stayed here several times and this was the first time we have had any issues. Naomi took care of it quickly and apologized repeatedly for the mix up.Great to see customer service still exists!”

“Only stayed one night but very nice motel in Santa Cruz located across from the beach and boardwalk.Walkability: Less than a block from beach and boardwalk and just a few blocks from the pier with shops and where Sea lions congregate.”

“Staff is very friendly. Great serviceNo major issues. The room was clean with the exception of a bit of clutter that was not previously swept, and overlooked. Plenty of clean linens. Price is reasonable for Santa Cruz. Quiet environment away from the transient population.”

“One of the most helpful front desk workers I've come across.Rooms: Clean and comfortable room. Issues with blow dryer and wifi service and phone but made up for with good customer service from front desk resolving or attempting to resolve right away.Food & drinks: Normal basic breakfast buffet for Best Western but the highlight for us was the over the top effort of the front desk person to makes sure we as vegans had the not normally supplied non-dairy milk and amazingly even non-dairy yogurt. She went above and beyond. Now if we can just convince Best Western to step up the normal offerings and provide non-dairy option at least for milk. You don't know the difference it would make for lactose intolerant individuals or Vegan's.Noteworthy details: As mentioned the superior customer service provided by the front desk at this hotel.”

Definitely will return.Rooms: Clean, lots of extra touchesNearby activities: Central to all Monterey Bay sights and attractions.Safety: Felt very safe for myself and my car.Walkability: Easy walk to harbor”

“I took my 4 grandkids to Santa Cruz every summer and this was the first time we stayed at Edgewater Beach Inn & Suite. Daniel (the manager) was the nicest person I've ever come across in my hotel stays. When the kids were swimming he brought them out towels to the pool. This place was very homey. We used the BBQ area, the pool, and the location was a quick walk down the parking lot to the beach! The entire staff were friendly and kind. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was that the mattresses on our beds were a little too soft. Outside of that all was great. On our last day there Daniel even let us keep our vehicle parked on site until we left for home. Thanks for a great time.”

“I have to say for this being a budget motel that's older it was very clean and the lady and her husband that works there are very friendly if your looking for just somewhere to sleep that's comfortable this is your place I called ahead to see if we could get a beach view since we were on our honeymoon they did what we asked which we were grateful for”

“This is a go-to for my family and I. The family room is perfect for 4 of us, including my handicap brother, who does not walk. Even with a wheelchair, the room is still easy enough to access and perfect amenities to be comfortable on a short - or long-term vacation. Rooms have 2 bedrooms, 2 showers, and 1 pull out couch. The location is perfect for walking to any of the attractions on vacation and even a view of the ocean from the room. Staff is incredibly freindly and helped us get the television working same day we asked. Snacks and coffee are included in the morning with a beautiful terrace/balcony to start your morning. 5/5 stars highly recommend ?”

“We stayed here one night while visiting UC Santa Cruz. The neighborhood was fine, no concerns. The check in was quick & easy. The front desk clerk (I wish I'd gotten his name) was pleasant & funny. The room was nice, with the exception of the lock on the bathroom door being broken. Fortunately, it was just my son and I and it didn't cause any issues. It had wonderful blackout curtains that kept the room very dark in the morning, which was nice because we wanted to sleep in a little bit.The breakfast was great, with delicious waffles. Even the eggs, which can usually be dubious in a Continental breakfast, were good. The coffee was delicious.”

“Recently said here, overall great experience location is great service good. Hot water not so much. But it's still a comfy spot. Price location it's probably one of the better hotels in the area.Rooms: No Hot water after running faucet for 10 minutes, front desk said 20min of running water. Seemed weird, but I was in Santa Cruz.”

“Charming and lovely with lots of character. Nice location out of the fray. Small rooms. Not fancy. If you are high maintenance and fussy go to the Hilton but if you are laid back and love nature stay here! For the price I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Love it.”

“I was a little worried about staying here after I read some of the other reviews... but now I'm glad I kept my reservation. Guys, my room was perfectly clean. This is not the Ritz or anything like that. It's not the most luxurious Best Western. But it is clean, within walking distance of everything you would wanna do in Santa Cruz (took me and my dad only ~20 minutes to get downtown), AND they have a decent variety for breakfast. I would absolutely recommend this hotel if you're on a budget.”
