“Our Kara kitty was diagnosed with cancer in her abdomen last month, and there was nothing we could do to help cure her. We made her as comfortable as we could, injected fluids in her everyday, and she had strings of good days, but then on Christmas Eve, her body just couldn't take it anymore. I got referred to Dr. Van Horn and his services from a family member and a couple of friends, and my wife and I are so glad that there are angels on earth in the form of Dr. Van Horn, Zayn, and Jennifer. They were all incredibly kind, compassionate, and professional and in spite of having to play phone tag and change the day of our appointment a couple of times. It's not easy at all to do what Dr. Van Horn did, but he did so with the most calm, kind, and understanding heart. He explained everything to us very clearly and even went so far as to share things about himself and stories about his pets to help us through things. He was so patient and gave us all the time we needed to say what we needed to say. He was gentle with her and helped her not suffer any longer. Kara was in excellent hands with Dr. Van Horn, and I highly recommend him if you are in need of services for your pet in their last moments. It was the most peaceful day, spending time with our Kara on the couch on Christmas Eve, and having Dr. Van Horn help ease her passing, and now we're so relieved that our kitty doesn't have to suffer any longer. Dr. Van Horn even went so far as to make himself available to us if we needed someone to talk to in the future, and if I ever see him in the city, I would gladly go up to him and say hi. I consider him family based on how kind and gentle he was to our Kara. Thank you so much, Dr. Van Horn, and all of your associates, for helping our last moments with Kara be so loving and meaningful!”

“Dr. Commins came over on Saturday to assess my inter-vat aggression issues. It was a great meeting, and I am filled with hope that my 2 cats can eventually have a truce, if not a friendship. She gave so many suggestions, and was really easy to talk to.I highly recommend her if you are having any behavioral pet issues.”

“I was very thankful for the staff helping me to find an appointment so quickly. Dr. Fong explained everything very well and helped calm my fears. Taking time to explain things and give 3 different options for treatment helped me a lot in deciding what to do. I was really nervous as a first time dog owner and Dr. Fong being patient to listen to me about my worries for my dog helped a lot.”

“I just took my dog here for TPLO surgery and I was really scared! I wanted everything to go well since my dog is approaching 9 y.o. Dr. Press made this experience so seamless, Winston was eating and drinking the moment we got home. No hiccups. Super clean incision. Scheduled follow ups included in the price. They dealt directly with my pet insurance, too. Thank you a million times Dr. Press and staff! One week out from surgery and he's already feeling like himself again. The surgery, blood work etc was pricey but you get what you pay for. They kept him overnight to observe him and gave me updates. if you've been looking for a sign to get pet insurance, this is it.”

“Everyone treated my cat and I with great compassion when we came for emergency care. It was very shocking to learn the saddest of news: my cat is riddled with cancer. But they sent us home with plenty of pain medication and appetite support to make his last days as comfortable as possible. I would definitely go there again.”

“My initial review was posted with 3 stars due to what I felt was a troubling experience for me and my cat. There were several excited dogs crowding the waiting room that scared him pretty bad prior to our appointment, causing a domino-effect that triggered a negative reaction from him since he felt overwhelmed from the start. Rowena reached out to me from the clinic via email and phone to discuss, apologize, and assist, explaining that it's not normally like that. Really appreciate that. The vet here was excellent. FIVE stars for her care. The meds she gave us seem to be working, and my cat is feeling better, which is the overall outcome that I'd desired. I would return. Thanks again, Rowena. The only other thing I'd suggest is better quality syringes for home administration of medicine. The two plastic ones we received to administer his oral suspension each broke after one use, and we have a few days left on his antibiotic schedule.”

“BCPH has always been so good to us.They respect appointments and run on time, they’ve taken us last minute for emergencies before, they communicate well, their billing practices are fair. They’ve always been a pleasure.My only thing to note is that in going to them for 2 years, we never once met a vet in person. I’m not sure if it’s a covid policy that was prolonged, but they do not allow people into exam rooms and the vet calls you to discuss results. This never bothered us because we didn’t have any serious issues of concern but I can see why other patients may seek a more in-person interaction.”

“I have had Dr. Doe at Nob Hill Cat Clinic look after my cat veterinary needs since the late 1990s. I find her to be very knowledgeable, and also communicative; she always answers my questions and also asks questions about my cats and their situations. And she is wonderful with cats...they can pick up on the fact that she cares. The office has just been remodeled and is very clean and nice. You can't do better than NHCC for cat care in San Francisco. Edit: Dr. Doe retired in 2022. Her replacement, Dr. Gonzales, is quite a bit younger than her, but is caring and seems knowledgeable.”

Everyone here was extremely friendly, helpful and professional. I brought my golden in because I had a concern about a bump on him and he was overdue for a wellness check up, we saw Dr. Bechtel and I don't think my dog knows that we were there for any reason other than a friendly visit. We were in and out promptly with a follow up appointment for boosters booked before I even got to the checkout counter. Like I said, extremely efficient. I'm so grateful! The only potential issue I could see for newcomers is with parking (there's only 3 spots in front and all the spots directly outside were taken when I arrived but that's showbiz). I learned today there are some spots if you turn onto mission so I will try that next time. Thank you to all who helped us. (Especially Tej who helped me get set up and booked for my first appointment over the phone). In terms of the booking and invoices etc once you get set up it's extremely smooth. I got my invoice via email as well as a summary of my dogs treatment plans and I get text alerts for appointments. Couldn't have gone better in my opinion.”

“An amazingly caring, knowledgable staff.When my canary had an eye infection a month ago, this place saved both him and I… we able to be seen quickly and with high efficacy (detailed correspondance with the veterinarian and full explanations of the medications we were given).I am so very grateful for this vet hospital as there were very few other available avian vets, and I did not feel out of place at all bringing in a bird (especially due to his small size). The exam went smoothly and my canary was handled with care.They are also highly organized and responsive with emails. The front desk staff are pleasures to correspond with and extremely respectful of both pets and owners. (They were even so kind as to offer to keep my bird behind their desk if I wanted to leave for a short walk (as I arrived to the appointment approx. 20 minutes early)).I can also tell the place is kept very clean, as I (sadly) have allergies to dogs and cats, but did not have any allergic symptoms while there.Dr. Chan is the best, and I am very thankful for this veterinarian clinic in San Francisco. I would really like to recommend their avian services for the depth and ease of veterinary care.(Note: Posted photos were taken with verbal permission).”

“I wish Animal Farm had an in-house veternarian, but they are contract vets. They don't work more than 2 days, and the turn around is dismal, but the technicians and veternarians that have cared for my animals, ( 2 semi feral cats and a dog) have been very good doctors. I can't say enough about the technicians either. Especially the one who took care of my onery semi feral tom cat. The front desk folks were very friendly and also assisted the technician. I just wish they had a consistent schedule or would've given them a 5 star.”
