“Come here for a quick gift to bring a fancy hipster toy to your next young kids birthday party. Expect to pay high prices, but in return, you get fancy packaging that feels good in your hands, as you marvel at the extra 5 minute effort the clerk spends to wrap your gift and stamp it with custom letters with the name of the recipient. The store is a joy for parents, but honestly like any fancy boutique you get concerned bringing your little ones in tow. This is a high brow gift shop, not Toys R Us.”

“I'm really sad that our local family owned San Francisco toy store closed due to politics, a changing market, and area crime. I remember when Jeffrey's was on Market in the 90s. I've been coming here since I was a kid. I just moved back from NYC but I consider myself lucky I was able to visit the shop several times with my own infant son before the store closed. It's places like this why I will keep toys and books in my kids hands and not tablets and smart phones. As a born and raised San Franciskin, I hate what SF has become. I hope Jeffrey's can make a comeback soon in a better SF neighborhood where the shop would be greatly appreciated by families and children for another 90 years.”

“VERY cute amusement park / museum like place. Loved all the big SF Firefighters Toy Program statues of your favorite characters from the classic cartoon of the Jet sons to Disney characters to Stranger Things. It may look crowded but there were times where we had a little privacy where we took pictures with no photo bomber. This is definitely a great free way to see something new. Parking underground is easy and lots of space, $3 for 20 minutes, max cost is $25. GO CHECK IT OUT!”

“Lots of puzzles to try out in their mini play area… handcrafted wooden puzzles and brain teasers for kids and adults ranging from ludo, snake and ladders, chess etc.. invokes a sense of nostalgia.. most of the puzzles have the difficulty level clearly taggedthe guy at the store is extremely passionate about his work.. and puts a lot of effort in keeping every customer engaged and intrigued about the puzzles on display..”

“How do they squish so many things in there. The aisles are narrow. I'm afraid that person who sues stores for not having handicapped space might come in here. They have a "variety" (understatement). You want something, they must have it. They are part of ACE hardware store. Their kitchen ware is two doors down. Everything you need in the kitchen, except the sink.”

“Wanted to leave positive feedback here for Marcus although everyone I’ve interacted with at the shop is great! Marcus went well out of his way to teach my daughter how to play Pokémon so we could participate in an upcoming event. He is an incredible teacher, patient, and genuinely passionate about TCG.I’ve been a dreadnought member (highest tier membership) for 6 months and even tho I’ve yet to play a game of MTG on premises… I feel like I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth in discount of booster boxes and customer service. I highly recommend supporting this small business and it’s truly awesome to see what they do for the community. Cheers and ty for having us!”

“Small store in Japantown with a surprisingly excellent selection of curated board games. Be warned: you may find yourself having to walk sideways to get around with even a couple of customers in the store.”

“Ying Hobbies & Toys it's the hidden gem you never knew you needed! My wife stumbled upon this treasure while on a quest for Gunpla goodness, and boy, am I glad she did. Tucked away in a cozy spot, Ying Hobbies & Toys might play hard to get at first, but once you lay eyes on its bounty of plastic wonders, you'll be hooked. The store might be small, but it's bursting at the seams with an array of model kits that'll make any Gundam fan's heart skip a beat. Seriously, choosing just one model feels like trying to pick a favorite child - impossible and bound to hurt someone's feelings. But fear not, the guy running the place is pretty helpful. With his guidance, navigating through the sea of model kits becomes a breeze! Oh and the pricing is super fair specially for all the cool stuff you can find. So, if you're a Gundam enthusiast or just someone who appreciates the art of model kits, do yourself a favor and pay Ying Hobbies & Toys a visit. Trust me, it'll quickly become your go-to spot for all things Gunpla. Happy building, fellow plastic yelp warriors!”

“The store is cool and the toys are awesome. They also have shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and about 3 plushies. The reason I took a star off is because of the employee. We went on Sunday afternoon planning to spend a lot of money but the employee's attitude made us leave without buying anything. He seemed annoyed that he had to deal with customers. There are no prices on anything so you have to ask him how much everything is. He might be new as he was unable to answer 2 questions (not price related.) It seems like a kick back job so that's probably why he works there but if he doesn't like dealing with customers he should find another job.”

“My niece wanted to visit the store after her birthday brunch. We walked into the store, and it was a little difficult to push our stroller around, so we had the toddler walk around. The bigger kids were interested in the pirate supplies. We bought a few sets of zodiac dice because there is a five-dollar minimum for credit card purchases and I don't like to carry cash in the city. I would love to return to watch a show here,”

“Nice big shop right on the pier. Friendly staff and a large selection. I love that you can get little souvenir tee shirts and clothes for your bear, but my kids aren’t really the souvenir type so we got Pokémon, lame!”

“A very small store for the serious anime- Japanese manga type figurines/ models and other collectables and some lower cost stuff for kids/ collectors on a budget. It's one of the few I know in the general bayarea that specializes in the trade and one the few that offer some of the original Japanese heroes collectable stuffing around SF”

“What a sweet and wonderful group of lady's running this store. You'll find everything you need for toddlers, which is especially hard about 4 years old. In between baby and kids clothes/shoes. Also the shoes I bought my son were not cheaply made Nike's that break through the toe within a month. Great stuff!”

“I was looking for swimwear and a sweater (both from Tea Collection) which were sold out on the company's website. After a google search for the items, I found Fiddlesticks! They have a nice selection of children's clothing as well as plush toys (I ended up buying a few more adorable plush toys from Jellycat). When I received the package today, all items were individually wrapped and there was a sweet note from the owner. Had a lovely experience shopping online. Highly recommended this store.”

“The exploratorium store was a cool spot with a huge range of gifts to get. It is the gift shop to the Exploratorium. I liked the black sand exhibit at the Exploratorium and asked the sales associate there for some. She was very happy and eager to lead the way to the black sand. They also have a bunch of other cool tacky stuff to buy from a test tube glass tea diffuser to crystal rocks.A jar of black sand was $9.72 which I thought was a fair price to pay.”

“So happy I had the opportunity to stop here during my trip to San Francisco! This lovely shop is expertly curated with a wide range of high-quality baby gear to suit a variety of parenting/caretaking needs. In addition to the latest UPPAbaby and Nuna stroller and car seat models, they also had a great Silver Cross and Cybex selection--it was sooooo nice to FINALLY be able to test drive a Gazelle! There's a nice selection of nursery furniture (Ouef, Monte), clothes, toys, high chairs (all the Stokke options), and just about any other gear you might need for your little one. The sales associates were very friendly and helpful; they know their products inside and out. All in all it was a great experience, and I will definitely be creating a registry here to integrate with my Babylist. SF parents-to-be, don't sleep on this shop; it's rare to find a store with kind of quality and expertise, and I hope it remains a staple on Valencia St. for many years to come!”

“I wanted to get a gaming console for my grandson on his 11th birthday, and this shop did a good job guiding me through. Excellent service, very pleasant and helpful. Games are in good condition. Highly recommended. I'll be coming for other options to add to my grandson's collection.”

“They have a great selection of pieces here! I've checked out some other locations before but I really liked how everything was set up here. Lots of open space and a huge selection! I was actually surprised to see a few things I wanted to buy here. I ended up getting a sweater from Nike! Was a bit disappointed to find out that it was on sale on the Nike website afterwards but it's okay! Happy to support BAIT. The workers there were so nice and thoughtful. I would definitely come back to look around again when they bring in new stuff. Keep in mind that you can refund anything after buying something. Exchanges only!”

“Small frys is the best children clothing/shoe store in San Francisco! Whenever I am in the area for lunch or a walk, I always stop by here to get something for my daughter and son. It's also a great place to get a gift for a special little one! There's always a decent sized sales rack at the entrance. What makes this store truly amazing is the owner. My family from Ukraine recently fled the war and arrived in San Francisco. The owner reached out to me and told me she has a care package at her store waiting for my almost 6 year old nephew. I had tears when reading how generous of a person she was. Not only did she give him incredible See Kai Run shoes, but she also have super stylish pants, shirts and PJs. My family and I are forever grateful for her kindness and generosity. Thank you, thank you. Support small businesses like Small Frys!”

“One of the better spots for some collectables. Funko Pops, trading cards (sports and non sports cards, and many sports autograph memorabilia. A nice quiet location in Stonestown. The store is big enough for a small group of people but large enough for a verity of amazing collectables. The staff is friendly and helpful with assisting with your needs. Definitely go and check out.”

“It's definitely a very cutesy type of store that sells Japanese products like Sanrio merch and many kinds of plushies. When I walked in the staff were nice and greeted me although I went on a day where there weren't many people in Japantown. I'm not this store's target demographic honestly, but it's still a fun store to browse around in when I have the time.”

“West Portal is a great place for everything and anything. Definitely stop by Growing Ip Art and Crafts. This store is packed with toys gifts and crafts for all ages. My 6-year old daughter got something, my wife got something and....I got something Lego!!!”

“I actually really like this shop in Japan Town. They actually have some of the best blind boxes for toys that I've ever seen. They story is on the larger side which is great, but it can get busy on a weekend so get ready to play bumper shoulders with a bunch of random folks. Still staff is pretty friendly. If you like Japanese cute toys, then this is one of the better spots outside of Japan.”

“Isn't it pretty surreal to think that such a business as Cards & Comics Central that is not essential for people to survive for they do not serve a vital need of yours - IN PLAIN SIGHT - and although it literally does not; IT still HAS the very obvious solid intention, motivation, willingness and further makes the actual effort to sustain itself in such a gray-scaled world, where the importance of 'keeping the kid within one's own heart alive' ultimately got reduced to a negligible point (Special Thanks to the MATRIX); for you were flawlessly programmed to become adults who would prioritize activities of procreational sorts so to be able to experience the curious innocence of a kid's, in the very new life that you would bring to this gray-scaled & constant procreation oriented BITTER WORLD of so-called humanity; which in my own experience had become a million times more unliveable in less than two decades of a period, proudly sustaining that quite 'cancerously' uncontrolled reproductive activity! Which hurts the kid in me, you know, who was born in the 80's, such a lovely era truly; providing me with the 'knowing' so well of what LOVE actually felt like back then quite dearly and romantically; and indeed very collectively by the majority of humanity!.. I am beyond grateful to this business for serving the very unique needs of the kid at my heart; who is indeed determined to keep liking and loving what he had always liked or loved in HIS OWN DREAM WORLD; as some of them happen to be my literal "SOUL FOOD"s which I won't ever stop feeding my soul with... ** ...no matter how further I would age, Open are the doors to my soul cage!.. To praise businesses like this one, especially in this day & age Haven't you also been feeling a need 2 TURN this awful page? For a better world to altogether stage! x 2 I HAVE A CRUSH ON THIS BUSINESS in a quite similar way to Jennifer Paige! ** This place inside is actually like a toy museum that has all sorts of action figures, their separately sold accessories, other various collectibles as well as the original play sets of your favorite superheroes, some of them being large enough to occupy a quarter of your bedroom space, adding up to your colorful GRACE. The value part would be unquestionably relative; as once again, this business offers you the kind of nutrition that not every single adult feels a specific type of hunger for. And if you are a person with such uniquely specific needs; sometimes the high price loses its scary meaning due to the very nature of those very needs or how they should best be fulfilled; given your character & nature, using which, had you already made your BUDGET to purchase you that specific gadget in which you are interested. ^_^ ** SO, if you think that this business is on the pricier side of TOY THINGS Tell me how much would be enough to buy your UNIQUE BLISS-BOY HAPPINESS Who could judge you if you agree to spend $100 on an ETERNAL Sailormoon Statue Without your active imagination toys won't change a lot, and PATIENCE is a virtue ** That said, if you are one of those adults who has always identified their very own needs without having to necessarily requiring to consult any external body, in total wholesomeness which they maintain so flawlessly self-sufficiently; and if you know how to make the kid at your heart happy - ALTHOUGH THEY NO LONGER PHYSICALLY ALLOW YOU IN POST-PANDEMIC, WHICH IS QUITE HEARTBREAKING - you should absolutely go & check the place out; as their restless staff members will be there to assist you; like hard-working Smurfs, each, which to me is, comically adorable. Because there are not that many adults as those guys in the world anymore; you know. Perhaps in Pixar Studios; yet not in your most commonly visited grocery stores. I am so grateful to this business for their very contribution to achieve a significant removal of boredom, which this Groundhog Day-ish themed simulation naturally has to it; which will likely be my affidavit for the times”
