Dogwood Ranch Pet Resort
10385 Reese Cir, SalinasI've been coming to Dogwood since I opened my business in Salinas. Now that I live here, I bring my pup here multiple times a week. Great customer service and reasonable pricing. They almost always have availability and offer good hours for drop off + pick up. This is the best dog daycare I've found in Monterey county. Highly recommend.

Bit O'Blarney Pet Services
9835 Rolling Meadows Ln, SalinasWe met Mary for the first time this weekend. She is very experienced with all types of dogs. We took our 10-year-old Shih Tzu / Poodle mix, Simba, to get groomed, and he looked adorable and clean when we picked him up. We like Mary's grooming salon setup because the dogs are kept very safe while having access to fresh outdoor air. I learned quite a bit from Mary regarding Simba's behavior which is helpful since we recently adopted him. We highly recommend Bit O'Blarney Pet Services!

She has tons of patience and excels in getting in touch with not only each dog, but us, the dog owners. Ellen helped with both Cocoa's and my own separation anxiety. Plus she does a fantastic job of grooming my dog. The finishing touch is the bow! I can relax knowing Cocoa is safe with Ellen. I just can't imagine going to anyone else!

Steinbeck Country Small Animal Clinic
15881 Toro Hills Ave, SalinasJust moved to Salinas from Charleston SC and had to leave my beloved vet. This place has great reviews so I got an apt for my puppy here. They got me in within a week or so of me calling and I had a great first experience. They were timely and kind and clearly love animals. I didn’t feel like they tried to “sell” me on anything I didn’t want. They gave great advice on when to fix my pup and training tips too.
I will be making appointments for my kitties to come here as well.
EDIT: brought one of my kitties in when he suddenly was using the litter box a LOT more than usual. They were able to fit me in same day. Thankfully Zigzag is ok but they were great about seeing him.
Beverly who is usually who I see up front is an absolute sweetheart. She never rushes people and is always so pleasant and kind. All the staff has been the same way. I feel like I found a great vet and so close to my house.

Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic: James Sarah DVM
15881 Toro Hills Ave, SalinasDr Dykstra has been one of my horses main vets from this clinic for several years now. Last week my horse came down with an acute lameness on 2 legs and hurting over his whole body, he could barely walk. Dr Hibbits so kindly saw him on an emergency appointment at my house quickly after I called, started him on a high dose of Bute for a few days till he was sound enough to trailer. Dr Dykstra saw him at the clinic and was, and always has been, so easy to educate me on step by step diagnostics in the best interest of my horse. No questions were left unanswered and my mind was at ease when we were done. She even went the extra mile to spend about 15 minutes helping me load my horse back in the trailer who was giving us a real hard time. All of their vets are always very kind, thorough, and educational. I always trust them with all of my horses whatever the problem may be.

Prunedale Veterinary Services
17860 Moro Rd, SalinasThe entire office is pleasant and easy to work with. I always feel like they truly have our pets' best interest at heart. Many other veterinarian offices are obviously more concerned about the business end of things than the health of the animals. I often feel like the other offices are trying to up-sell you. Dr. Dena Eckerdt will voluntarily tell you that you can buy products and medications from her but it is much cheaper other places. They also are great with my pets, even the very difficult ones.

myk9smind
101 W Laurel Dr St, SalinasHolly is a wonderful trainer and helped us train our rescue dog. It turns out that under our dog’s hyper, energetic exterior is an extremely trainable and eager-to-please pup! We wouldn’t have recognized that and known what to do with it if it weren’t for Holly. We initially started seeing Holly because my doctor recommended I look into training my dog as a service dog. My doctor recommended Holly as a reputable trainer, as she’s heard positive feedback about Holly from other patients.I reached out to Holly, we discussed goals, then did virtual training sessions over FaceTime over the course of a few months. From the very first session, Holly’s guidance was leading us to great results. Our dog used to pull like crazy for entire walks, but now she’s much more polite. It has made walking her much more enjoyable, and now we bring her way more places. What sets Holly apart is that she doesn’t just resort to one strategy to train a dog - she pivots to new ideas if the initial approach doesn’t work. For example, when training my dog to not jump at other dogs on walks, Holly had the creative idea to sit 25 yards from a PetSmart entrance and practice “leave it” so my dog could practice disengaging with other dogs from afar.In regards to service dog training, Holly has an empathetic and motivated approach to ensuring both dog and handler work well together. I felt very comfortable communicating with her about everything.

First Awakenings
171 Main St, SalinasMy family and I have been coming to First Awakenings in Salinas for the past six years, and it never disappoints whenever we're in town. The place is always bustling, even on a Monday morning, which says a lot. Despite how busy it gets, the service has consistently been excellent and never feels rushed. It's the kind of spot where you can relax and enjoy your meal. We always start with the fresh-squeezed orange juice, which has become a must for us. I haven't strayed from their corned beef and hash since trying it two years ago. It's perfectly cooked every time, and they're always happy to swap out the eggs for bacon, which I appreciate since I'm not an egg eater. My daughter loves the biscuits and gravy. The portion is huge, and she never manages more than one biscuit along with the potatoes that come on the side. First Awakenings is always a breakfast or brunch treat we genuinely look forward to. It's a staple for us anytime we're in town and well worth the stop.

The food is so fresh and delicious! I have a high bar for Mexican food, but this place blew me away. Perfect tamales, amazing burritos, and I don't know what they do with the rice and beans, but I've never had them this good. The staff were all super nice and friendly and the service was quick. I also really loved how colorful the place is inside and out. It was so good, I went back the next night with my family, and I now have a new regular place to go whenever I'm back in town.
