Mamm is very rude aswell as the daughter will yell at child if child doesn’t do what she asks she called for everyone to get bags a child did not have his bag on mat all the way but child did have it and she’s still yelled at the child Bc it wasn’t fully on mat also child was doing stretches and the daughter called and singled a child out on stretches and told child they were doing stretches wrong and she’s couldn’t even name what the child was doing she was be rude instead of helping mamm came in mad that day but as a professional if you’re having personal issues do not take it out on the children you are teaching she is a good teacher but rude as well once again don’t take your child if you don’t want them to be yelled at for a bag that’s not on mat fully or for no reason and they do not encourage they just tell the child what they are doing wrong and continue they do not seem to care very much and only want serious inquires

Been a member for 6 years. Great family who truly care about the development of their members, youth or adult. Highly recommend for anyone in the Salinas Valley looking to build confidence, discipline and most importantly, grit.

At Kugtar MMA belts are not bought—they’re earned! It’s amazing to see what my family is truly capable of accomplishing in Mixed Martial Arts.

Martial Arts isnt for everyone, nor the sensitive hearted. You cant protect your kids or yourself from everything or you riakcrippling an individual. There is a difference between abuse and the reality of life throwing its punches, curveballs, and for some words. But i have seen and watched as timid kids become tougher mentally, physically, and spiritually. Ive seen shy lil girls become fearless on the matt. Ive seen my son run from the opposition to standing his ground and defending himself. Ive seen disrespectful kids/individuals learn of respect for the first time and/or begin to give it. If you really want to level up and better yourself physically, mentally, spiritually, and allow that to over flow into the other areas of your life and master self control, gain self confidence in self defense, and channel a better mindset for yourself and those around you, or just looking to become healthier and in shape, then the kugtar family may be just what your looking for. I know that it has done great things for my son, my wife, my family, and myself and is continuing to positively influence our lives. I humbly and sincerely thank the kugtar family, coaches, and students for taking us in and making us stronger as a family.

I've been training at Kugtar for 12+ years. Love this place. Ma'am and Master V became not just my instructors but Family. Everything I accomplished over the years is because they believed in me and support me every step of the way.. Great People, Great atmosphere

The worst place to train in the county, the philosophy here is you can't train anywhere else or with anyone else, very old minded people, not the true martial art experience. If your looking for the worst place to train look no further.

My child enjoys her classes and going to Kugtar. The owners master V and maám are respectful and kind people. They are great teachers. It is a priority to them to teach and make sure every student learns proper techniques for self defense and discipline that is needed in life.

I learned about some inappropriate behavior, by son who is a former student. The owner who calls herself "Mam" would make comments or say offensive things about his mom to him. I am his mother. Never did I say or do anything to this woman to deserve any of it and even less, my son. Her reason or motive is still not clear, but I am certainly going to ask her in person. This is not professional which is the least of the problem. The issue at hand is that this is mental abuse at its finest since my son went in and was excited, viewing her, her husband, and staff as role models. Now, I can see the disappointment, betrayal, and anger when these people or their business come up in conversion. His illusion has been replaced with failure and anger. I am taking this further, since I can see the damage this will have on my for a very long time. I believe his trust in others has been greatly tarnished as a result of the owners behavior. It is my responsibility as a mother, to make potential future victims, aware of the situation that took place for months and only learned about it recently. I believe this has happened to others, especially vulnerable children, such is the case with my son, in the past.

I joined Kugtar MMA a year ago after a while of searching for the right place to train. Aside from being kept clean and sanitary, It has a variety of Martial Arts classes you can take as well as just working out in their weight room. The instructors as well as the more advanced students are patient and helpful in helping sure you understand whats being taught. So if you are looking to learn self defense, interested in learning more, looking to become a fighter or just looking for a work out in general, Kugtar is the place to do it.

I literally just came here about two years ago to find something to do to keep me active but ended up finding so much more. Kugtar MMA offers great classes for children, teens, and adults where you don't just get fit, you learn an art, gain confidence, make friends, and get healthier overall. I started taking kickboxing classes to start and added Muay Thai, then Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Tang soo do. Compared to other schools this place is about cleanliness which is comforting. Master V has been doing martial arts for 35 years as well as competing in tournaments for 30 years. The experience and various types knowledge you get here from all the instructors in all the arts is invaluable. This is the place to be at if someone wants to make martial arts a part of their life style.

I've been with Kugtar since its day one, in the early 90's. This is by far the best place to learn from. This place is my family and am proud to be a part of this place. All age groups are welcome, whether it be for fitness or sport you will not be disappointed.

We looked at a few academy's in the Salinas area and decided on Kugtar. Initially for our 6 year old daughter to try out. Let me say after her first week trying it out she was hooked and so were we. The school is very welcoming and the kids program made it easy for my daughter to feel right at home immediately. The other students were very helpful and friendly. They offer a great rate for there unlimited program which allows her to attend every class they offer in any discipline, she took to all of them. After watching her excel in BJJ I couldn't help my self and decided to enroll my self. They offer great family rates so my wife joined as well. I love to work out and this class gives me a great workout, Plus the chance to learn a martial art while staying fit and active. That's priceless! Learn and Burn cant be beat. I recommend this academy to any one interested in trying martial arts or just wanting a unique way to get exercise. They have a great Cardio Kickboxing class and they offer MMA training for those who want the full experience of the cage. The confidence that comes with having a fit body is great, but the confidence that comes with the knowledge of self defense and a great body, again priceless. Their is also a morning class that starts at 5:30 for those who like to start early. A+++
