“Going to the zoo is bitter sweet. It's a good place to teach children about wild animals in captivity.... at the expense of captivity. The zoo is creative and quite an enjoyable experience once you look past the animals in captivity part of it all. Most of the places to eat were shut down when we went probably due to the recent weather. We had a good time overall.”

“I stayed at Maryhouse in 1991. I don't know if it's program has changed, but it changed my life! I couldn't speak from trauma. A Sister Judy was there. Her walk with Jesus changed my life as did the other Sisters. They helped me to speak again! And I was restored into a new life! A strong follower of Jesus Christ. I have mastered computers in dozens of ways. At 71 I will continue my studies in accounting. Thank you! Dusty Rose (Dusty Dwyer)”

“I have to start with a ginormous Thank YOU Ronald McDonald foundation!!!! I also want to share a few tips , pay attention. First second you get a chance to connect with your social worker, do it! If I previously spoke to a social worker pre admission I would have had a place to shower, sleep, feel human for a few minutes. Second, bring snacks! Lol , The one lacking star is due to not much food being accessible. My family just went through a double cancer diagnosis, along with my son’s surgery. So we are a family in need of aid. The staff are friendly & helpful!! Bedrooms are beautiful & on the clean side. They could do a tiny better in that area. Thank you for letting me feel grounded & human for a couple hours!!! I am quite familiar with Ronald McDonald ( mother works for corporate) Thank you is not enough!”

“We had our wedding here and it was a perfect venue for us. A nice quiet pocket of Sacramento next to the river that let's you forget you're in the city. There's a beautiful courtyard with upgrade options including string lights. The inside of the logged was great for our reception with enough tables and seating provided by the venue for 60 people easily. More guests than that would require additional tables to be brought in. The price is fantastic and it's a very laid-back and relaxed venue for events.”

“I love some of the people there. Shelters can be very hard and devastating. There is some suspicion of putting down animals un lawfully in many SPCAs but who knows. I know my volunteering experience has been wonderful and I know there's people in there that care. I loved working with critters and cleaning. The critter side of things were really thought out. Sometimes there was a volunteer not on bored with certain things and forget stuff. But overall maintaining the place was great.”

“We were in town for a music show and this place is a gem. Well kept and the people running it are super sweet. Check out musical instruments the way you'd check out books at a library. They have a lot of events there, space to do recording, and quite a few instruments. Coolest venue I've been to by a long shot. What a great idea for the community!”

“The Gender Health Center is welcoming and friendly. I appreciate that the counselors here made an effort to meet me where I was at, and worked with me on my own timeline. I have struggled to get gender affirming healthcare, but the staff here empathized with my situation and gave me useful resources to get proper medical care. If you are overwhelmed trying to navigate the social, legal, and medical aspects your transition, I would definitely reach out to the the Gender Health Center. I was feeling lost and didn't even know what help I wanted or needed but I just decided to give it a try. I was surprised that the counselors took the time to learn about my situation and gave me options to move forward with my transition. Thanks!”

“Forever Young is a very special place for our family. The staff are some of the warmest, kindest, most caring individuals who go above and beyond to ensure each child is cared for and loved. My son started there when he was 4 months old and continued on into the toddler room. When he aged out, it felt like we were moving away from family. I could not recommend FY enough.”

“Back in 2013 I was a guest at this location. Because of the shelter and meals they provided I was able to acqire a job/career put my shattered life back together and save up the money to get an apartment of my own to bring my family back home. (Because of the conflict overseas they had bern stranded in Ukraine for 2 years). This facility was a major game changer for me abd I honestly don't know what I would have done without it.”

“Downtown Sacramento has been a fun place in the last few years, followed by Golden 1 Center finish and DOCO - Downtown Commons remodeled with K Street mall. Many more areas in Sacramento Downtown turned into the food, drink, and entertainment district. Sacramento downtown uses a ghost town after the office workers leave at 5 pm every weekday and the entire weekend. Not many people want to go downtown after sunset or on the weekend. But things are completely changed in the last few years. The businesses in Downtown Sacramento are bustling every night and weekend. The district is even more crowded when they are an event in Downtown Sacramento. Sometimes I have trouble finding parking spaces. The meters parking or parking garages are changing event parking fees. It is a lot more expensive than the standard time! The only problem is that Sacramento's downtown area is the same as the other California cities. Lots of homeless! I hope this problem will be resolved soon!”
