Armstrong was recommended by a friend and my family has been coming here for around 4 years or so. I’ve only spoken to John, so naturally I always look for him when I have car trouble, but I’m sure Bob has worked on my cars too. Both gentlemen are wonderfully nice, polite and respectful. ?

In the last few weeks I’ve been coming in and out for several family cars. I know nothing about cars and John is aware. ? Haha So he’s always giving me advice and helping me make the best decisions. ?

For example, some parts don’t need to be fixed immediately, so he’ll tell me to wait. Also, some parts shouldn’t be fixed because the car is too old and it’s not worth it and so on…

Furthermore, I was having muffler issues and John recommended Tony's Muffler And Radiator Service (8516 Garvey Ave, Rosemead, CA 91770). He even called them to let them know what I needed because another shop (East LA) tried to take advantage of me and I was feeling anxious. ?

Moreover, the guys are precise and swift with repairs. One day I had to tow one of the cars to the shop. It was almost 5:30pm (closing time), but John jumped immediately at the car. Next day, around 10am he calls to tell me my car is ready to go. ?

John’s inherent good-heartedness and kindness is what I love about Armstrong. This directly reflects on their work ethic and how they handle each repair. Their labor costs are fair and for parts it really depends on the car/model.

From my experience with the guys, I highly recommend them. ??☺️ Thank you John and Bob for taking care of me~ ?

Since December 2022 I’ve had three cars that I’ve taken to Armstrong. The gentlemen, Bob and John, are dedicated to their craft. Their knowledge, experience and skills are exemplified through every diagnosis, repair and/or routine automotive maintenance. Their work ethic continues to be impeccable and I trust them completely with my car/s. One of the many things I love about Bob and John is that despite my limited knowledge they will thoroughly explain each dashboard warning light/issue/repair in depth and answer my questions genuinely.

The work they’ve done for me so far includes suspension system, alternator, battery, battery terminals, engine coils, spark plugs, coolant reservoir, ECU, oil change, transmission fluid, tire rotation, engine/cabin filter, fluids (steering wheel, wiper fluid, brake fluid, coolant), tire pressure, headlights, transmission rebuild, sensors, radiator, engine mounts and brake pads.

“I have been following the technicians of this company for decades. When I have a problem nobody can diagnose, I went to the place they worked before. Unfortunately, their Boss (owner of business) passed away, he was an old school suspension/frame technician. He trained them. All the mechanics in the SGV knew where to go when they had a car with a serious alignment/frame issues. Plus, the prices were always fair.

If you prefer going to a place with an expensive alignment system I understand.
The mistake you’re making is you believe they cannot afford a modern system. It’s definitely a preference for the old school way they were trained.

A modern alignment system shop is great.
I go to those places too. Those machines used properly are great. My Autoshop teacher friend trains students to use them. You can teach a novice tech quickly. However, does the technician truly understand suspension? Are they properly torquing the alignment adjustments? Are they paying attention to all bushings and control arms? All those original suspension parts are expensive. Are you going to replace them with cheap aftermarket parts or quality parts? This is why most people get ripped off. Cheap parts don’t last, and can fail.

I had a 93 Corolla that no fancy Alignment shop could fix. They would align it and a month later the steering wheel would be crooked. This went on for a decade. Finally, I remembered what we did in 70s and 80s. I took the car to the place Jorge was working (Google rules prevent me from mentioning). Jorge figured it out almost instantly. It was a worn rack and pinion bushing. A problem my fancy alignment shop couldn’t figure out, because the modern alignment machine said the car was perfectly aligned. The young technicians just didn’t have the experience or the insight to look beyond the alignment adjustments.

I have read many reviews for JB Alignment. If you don’t trust Jorge, don’t go to JB. If you don’t believe an alignment can be done without a fancy alignment system and in fact can done just as well, go to another place. I have an old Highlander that needs lower control arms. Toyota dealer quoted over $2000 in parts and 8 hours of labor. Jorge is doing it considerably cheaper because he has the experience to do the job efficiently, with quality parts, and the knowledge that I trust him and will continue to seek his help/service as long as I have cars.

I think younger people believe and trust technology. I completely understand. But, older people like me trust expertise. Plus, we remember when someone comes through for us and saves us money. You negative reviewers stay away. The place is always busy. You make the line shorter!
If you don’t trust Jorge, stay away!

A lot of people don’t replace their shocks and struts, or let someone replace them with cheap aftermarket replacements. Quality parts and labor to replace OEM shocks and struts are very expensive, but worn shocks/struts, miles, and age destroy suspension bushings. We make our problems worse by putting off maintenance. You cannot expect any place to permanently fix suspension that is worn out and not properly maintained. Some reviewers have unrealistic expectations or are blaming JB for previous mistakes made by other mechanics, especially those that use bargain basement aftermarket parts installed improperly.”

This place rules, and Ning the owner intentionally compares his prices to the jacked up ones at car max and puts them two or three thousand lower. Not only that, he is a stand up business man. After I got my ford fusion plug in hybrid, I took it to a mechanic with a $20,000 computer to check it and everything came back perfectly clean. “I went into Tony muffler's shop and had my exhaust leaks fix. I had 2 underneath. The driver's side and the other one underneath the passenger side. My flange gasket burned out Tony, fixed all my leaks and my truck, has more horsepower and sounds better.I was actually losing gas mileage because of my exhaust leak. My truck feels great now. “First time coming here getting an oil change for my Kia the mechanic make sure that he does everything carefully he also let me know no need to put too much motor oil in the engine Even though my car takes 5 quarts of synthetic motor oil but he only put four quarts I told him that I rather go with the recommendation if anything.
