“I live out of town, and rely on Lee's as my go-to florist for my mom in Berkeley. They never disappoint. If you need something mind-blowing, this is the place. And here's a pro tip for Lee's, and any good florist. If you have a little flexibility, just tell them what your budget is, and let the floral designer choose the flowers for you. That's the best way to get the freshest, most lovely, in-season flowers that are in the shop on THAT day. (It's almost never roses).”

“Love the mulch at EcoMulch. It’s far and above my favorite among the Bay Area suppliers. Just got 12 yards of the Mini Natural and the texture and makeup is very consistent. This company also has the most considerate, capable, and friendly drivers. No matter how challenging the driveway, they alway do an excellent job placing the mulch.”

“This is one of the best plant shops in the Bay Area. It doesn't matter whether you are new to gardening or an expert green thumb. Every single plant I've bought here has been healthy, happy and lived - which is saying a lot in my household.”

“This is a very cute business that is located in Albany. I had walked by it several times and was in too much of a hurry to go inside. However, when I went in, the first thing I noticed was the rich green color of the plants. The shop was small, and it was filled with very happy looking plants. The sun shone into the small space and lit everything up.Then I met the wonderful people who work in this space. They were friendly and very kind. They made me feel like hanging out with them. Their dog just laid there while Dom told me their family story. They provide workshops that are open to the public, like how to take care of your plant babies and how to repot plants. You can also take classes to learn how to make art pieces with your plants. If you don’t have the time to repot—they can do it for you.If you don’t have a green thumb, you can even rent plants from them.I loved their warm and friendly vibe that they have created.”

“Magpie and Thorn makes me so happy! They have all my favorite things on one place! Plants, witchy jewelry, art, scents and cute clothes for most ages and sizes peppered in for good measure. I'm always like a kid in a candy shop when I visit. 5000 stars. Highly recommend.”

“Wendy hosted such a fun wreath making class and everyone's turned out so beautiful with her guidance. She is so knowledgeable about every plant and which ones are easier for us non-green thumbs!”

“It’s such a vibe …perfect place for a mother to listen for my next plant babies to whisper to me?. Also everyone is very knowledgeable and attentive. The plants are priced reasonably and are quality plants”

“What a wonderful day spent picking organics from this little farm tucked away in the middle of the city. Sure I could have gone to a farmers market but it was way more fun going out with family for the day and harvesting our own fruits, vegetables and herbs in the sunshine. It's pretty simple, check their online calendar for available produce, pick up a basket and clippers when you get there and go for it! They even have honey and olive oil for tasting and purchase. They charge by the bushel and you can pay via Venmo. There's a beautiful Appalachian horse named Gentle Ben there who roams around. You can pet him, take a picture with him and feed him apples. This was a real treat for my granddaughter. We'll definitely be back for the various season's pickings.”

“A lovely garden shop for many cacti and plants that should thrive in California. Great variety of plants, but I also found it very expensive. I’ll probably come often to browse but will be careful about which plants I fall in love with.”

“This is one of the best plant stores I've ever been to. They don't just sell succulents! Also have plenty of unusual stuff like carnivores and different Tillandsias, and not just the typical species. They also have pretty pots and shells (including the large Turbos my hermit crab likes). The staff are very knowledgeable! Highly recommend visiting just to take a look at the cool, unusual plants they've gathered. Their plant prices are also reasonable. Got a Kniphofia (red hot poker, hard to find in this season) for $8.”

“The best Plant Shop in the area because of the co-owners! My partner and I came in for the first time this Sunday and Queen was so helpful and informative. We walked away with three new beautiful plants and learned a lot about how to take care of our existing plants as well. Will definitely come back for more plants and more expertise. Love supporting local”

“Made a last minute order, not expecting to receive my carving tools before a trip abroad. Lucky for me, my order was processed overnight and my package reached me in time to use it on my trip. Super professional, will definitely order more tools in the future.”

“This is an AMZING place! Very very nice statues, wood carving frames (huge ones), decorative doors and much more for your backyard, front yard entrances etc. We were looking for a Budha statue for our backyard and this was THE BEST PLACE. We looked at many places in the Bay Area and glad we found Gardensia. If you like solid rock (not those made from a mold) statues, this is the place for you! Great customer service as well. T( store owner) was extremely helpful and courteous! Responds very promptly to vm / text messages. The statue we chose was 450 pounds of beautifully carved volcanic rock and T gave us details of someone who would transport it. Everything went smoothly and the Budha was installed with out any issues! It’s the focal point of our backyard!”

“Today, I received exceptional customer service from Damion at the Rockridge Cole Hardware. He went out of his way to be helpful, kind, caring plus extremely informative about what I was looking for. It reminded me of how every employees has been towards me since Cole Hardware established itself in the neighborhood in 2016. Yes, you probably could get some of their items a few dollars cheaper on Amazon but great in person customer service is priceless. There's an energy to it that is really extremely special these days. Please support this local business and its fantastic hard working employees. Next time you need to get that random item, call or text Cole Hardware at 510.230.0145 to see if they have it. I prefer text and usually someone will get back to me fairly quickly, no matter what time of the day!”

“A friend recommended this place and so glad they did. The store is gorgeous and has such fun plants. Sales clerk were sweet and very knowledgeable. I told them my outdoor plant set up and they were able to point me in the direction of a Fishbone Cactus. They told me about the flower it blooms and showed pictures. Very excited for this new plant addition! Also, the pot it was in was too wide for my balcony so they repotted it into two cute pots I got there for me before I left! $2 for the soil, $20 for each ceramic pot, $50 for plant that I could've easily split into a 3rd pot!”

“Flowers for my daughter in law’s baby shower were absolutely stunning. We have used Millers for 25 years. The prices have increased and after Covid got much higher but so has everything. They are worth it”

“Wish I could give them 10 stars! And I wish I had known about them sooner instead of shopping at Home Depot for my landscaping supplies.I just discovered them from a recycling forum I am in. And although they don't sell recycled gravel - their prices and selection of the new gravel can't be beat. Plus they allow you to take a few samples for free so you can take home to see if the color and size works. This alone is better customer service that you can at Home Depot. But it gets ever better. Most of their staff is EXCEPTIONAL. I say most because there was a BIG difference in the staff at the counter in the morning versus the afternoon staff. Go in the afternoon and ask for Joe H or Feylin. Feylin was especially helpful because I was first time customer and was a bit overwhelmed initially and needed information to make my decision. Joe provided the back up when I came back later to place my order. The morning crew - maybe because it was 6:30am - was more like the staff at Home Depot. But what really motivated me to write this review was because of the service I received from Keith who packed 28 bags of gravel for me. First, Keith agreed to do it near the end of this shift after working a long day. He was so pleasant and nice while packing these heavy bags in my carTo see how hard he was working - and once again with such a wonderful attitude - is type of customer that is practically non existent at similar companies. I asked to speak to his manager, Lalo to tell him how impressed I was with KeithI was shocked that Keith and many of the other staff prefer to fill the bags of gravel by hand instead of using automated equipment. I hope Bee Green gives all the physical labor staff a gift certificate every month to get a full body massage!Loving the gravel I put in my driveway and outside my she shed.”

“Ivana provided us invaluable assistance in selecting multiple statues, and we are delighted with our purchase. Following the holidays, we plan to return to choose a fountain and some pots from their extensive and reasonably priced selection.”

“I purchased some great plants from Jessica. Her backyard farm is a fun place to visit and great example of what you can accomplish with permaculture design, integrating growing food and raising animals. She has some very unique plants that produce food and help build the soil by fixing nitrogen. I like the personal touch and knowledge of plants that she has.”

“I recently purchased 750 sq. feet of sod from the Sod Shop. I had them install it after I did all the necessary prep work (rototilling in topsoil, leveling, etc. ). Kim took the time to go over with me what I had to do and how to do it. She was so helpful and patient with all my questions. She was very polite and friendly. The sod was fresh and they did an excellent job installing it. I would very highly recommend The Sod Shop to anyone wanting to install sod. I was very impressed with their professionalism and knowledge.”

“The people who work at this place are so helpful! Tim, Sam, etc... they really know their stuff and I have seen my garden go from nothing to amazing with their information on nutrients. The xmas trees are the best in the area and they keep them watered!”

“A delightful plant shop. Their outdoor plants are healthy and good stock, although I find the space confusingly organized and hard to navigate. There's not a lot of signage and they move things around so you can't necessarily find things in the same place. (Some things are easy to find like veg and vines, but perennials tend to move around.) Their indoor plants are a mix. They are large, dramatic, and beautiful... but they often come home with scale or some other problem. Last time I was shopping I couldn't find a single indoor plant without a visible pest on it. So although they look good in the store, six months from now I'll probably have a sick plant.”

“They have a huge array of stuff packed into their little allotment and the plants actually look healthy and weather transplanting well once home. Quite expensive I have to say, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality.”

“My favorite everyday shop for buying plants. They have a wide selection and consistently healthy plants. I like how it's organized; I can find what I'm looking for without help. The only drawback is they often only have a few of each kind of plant when I need larger numbers (in which case need to order them).”

“Westbrae Nursery is a dream come true! I was immediately amazed by the diverse selection and top-notch quality of their plants, indoor and outdoor alike. But what really sets this nursery apart is the EXQUISITE customer service. The young woman working at the counter was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. My purchases have thrived, a testament to her amazing advice and feedback. I highly suggest consulting her as my garden has never looked better.”
