This was a great experience for my son. It's low cost and completely worth it. The parking lot looks completely packed when you arrive, but the train rides are not so long that the parents eventually come out and vacate the lot for the next set of families.

They give free rides on miniature locomotives. The engineers are all totally amazing and happy to chat with you about their craft! The passionate guy we spoke to had been part of the club for 59 years.

We had an amazing time! Tickets were $3 per person for the bigger train and it was scenic, beautiful and fun! The small train is free. Volunteers also operate the smaller train which is donation based so be sure to donate and thank them! There were lots of different props around the area and it was super nice viewing the props and exploring the backlands of Berkeley! The line moves fast too and the park is very cute otherwise. Afterward, it's about a 10-15minute drive back to Berkeley's campus so it's pretty close by to lots of other attractions!Definitely check it out if you're in the area! Bring your kiddos too!

A fun low-cost activity for kids and families, featuring rides on miniature steam trains along a well-maintained track with woodland views. Great for kids with an interest in machines and fun for adults with an interest in miniature and model railroads.

The people working here are obviously passionate about their mission to build interest in trains. There were so many excited kids around. Both the free and paid rides are easily worth your time and (a very small amount of) money.

came here yesterday just to get out of the house and explore. drove up here and parking wasn't too bad. they are only open sundays I believe from 12pm-3pm. nice to take kids to ride on the trains. they have one bigger one and a smaller streamer train just down the hill. the crowd wasnt too packed and social distancing was good as well.

If your kids are into trains, they'll love this gem. My son had a blast! They offer free rides to the public, on their miniature live steam railroad, on Sundays between 12 - 3 pm (weather and staffing permitting). Donations of any amount are accepted. The volunteers/club members are super friendly and knowledgeable. Their goal is to educate the public about railroading, live steaming, and model engineering. If you're interested in those sort of things, you can join their club.
