Very intelligent, informed staff with great suggestions!! Great selection of books. Quick turn around time when ordering books that they don't have in stock. Totally reasonable prices. Can do business with them over the phone. I like keeping my money local instead of feeding the web.

AMAZING staff picks, superb selection of new stuff, the quality-to-quantity ratio is off the charts. Often end up buying more than I planned!

I like the bookstore but am unfortunately not able to support it anymore. I don’t like to be overly political but found it completely insensitive that this bookstore had a sign at the cash register stating “solidarity with Palestine” one day after 1500 Israeli civilians were brutally murdered at the hands of Palestinian militantorganization Hamas. It’s a nuanced issue and fine to be critical of governments, but we should all support innocent civilians who are getting killed on both sides. The sign made me feel lack of acknowledgement of Israeli suffering. Maybe they had put the sign out before the war started a couple days ago but it should have been taken down. I will not be returning.

Beautiful shop with bright light and shelves complete with shiny new books. Great place to buy a gift and starve Amazon.

I love this bookstore! A great selection of new and older imprint books. Bestsellers, bookseller recommendations, and cute notebooks and cards as well. Love the space, love the bookstore!

Lot's of good literature and diverse representation. They carry an extensive selection of Japanese stationary, writing and drawing supplies. Also liked the staff review section. We like to read their takes on what's new.

I was walking up College Avenue and saw this bookstore. Two books immediately caught my eye and I picked one up to buy and made a couple of pleasant comments about both books. Both (female) booksellers froze me out. Incredibly rude. I stopped in the bookstore again on my way home and spoke to another bookseller about the incident. He defended them. Yes well curated but what a terrible bookstore. Check out the poster extolling their customer service in the photo. What hypocrites.

I like that their selection of poetry, critical theory, philosophy, sociology, art criticism and history books are something I gravitate to. I'm glad they exist and are definitely a resource. Also, their selection of Japanese/German/etc. stationery is decent.

So many great bookstores in Rockridge, and this is no exception. Love their selection of notebooks.

This is one of the best bookstores in the Bay Area. The store itself isn't huge, but the selection is excellent. If you're looking for unique books and books not on The NY Times bestseller list, this is the place to go. The section of translated books, books from independent presses, and rare selections is magnificent. I can't wait to go back.

They have a good selection and staff reviews. When I couldn't find what I sought, they offered to order it for me. I really appreciate that. They are a local shop and I only do book business with smaller, local shops.

Excellent bookstore with excellent booksellers! They have a great but limited selection. I recommend checking out their website first if you're looking for a specific book. They list whether or not it's on their shelves!

A very good selection of books, curated and presented well. Plus notes and cards. Sadly, the customer service standard has dropped considerably since the store, previously called Diesel Books, came under new management 5 years ago. It used to be a friendly place, but some of the current staff are cold and rude. One woman, tall and very thin, is particularly frosty. After a recent encounter I had to be rushed to Alta Bates for treatment for frostbite and hypothermia. Just kidding (but you get the point). The owner should take a very careful look at this, given that Rockridge residents have the choice of another bookstore -- Pegasus Books -- just two blocks away.
