Not as painful or scary as it could have been. Employees were friendly, computer was reasonably easy, but still quite busy. 3 stars for DMV is actually good.

Walked in expecting a bad experience, happens when you think DMV. The staff at the Novato DMV , all super friendly, Luis was very helpful, took the time to explain the process and I was out in less than an hour (I did not have an appointment) completely changed my perception of the DMV.

Just went on a Monday morning without an appointment and was met with a super efficient, clear process (literally took 12 minutes total). Staff is great!

Friendly DMV. I would give 6 stars to Mario particularly. He was super kind and helpful. When another staff member wasn’t able to fully assist us, he took it upon himself to find a driving test (a little after closing hours) for my friend who had limited time before leaving the country. He took it today at Vacaville, the day he is leaving, and passed thanks to Mario. I took my driving test a couple years and had a great experience here too.

Wouldn't think I would ever in a million years give the DMV a good review, but the folks at the Novato DMV are gracious, efficient and helpful. They give the place a good vibe and make it as painless as possible. Best place to go if you have to go to the DMV.

Lovely DMV Small place By appointment or on line inside is faster Big parking lot Clean place I don't see the kiosk Convenience location PLEASE DO NOT BRING KIDS is not ambiance for kids I will back next year

Mario at the novato dmv is fantastic!! I haven't been to the DMV in years and was not looking forward to going in but he was quick but also so kind. people were coming up to him asking things as he was helping and he was easily able to multitask which helped streamline the process for so many different people. I'm not sure how raises are evaluated at the DMV but he was able to help at least 4 different people at once. Go Mario!

Fast, efficient and helpful. Mario was extremely helpful, kind, put us at ease, and is an A++++ employee. Thanks to Mario for making our DMV experience excellent.

1.) Understaffed, undertrained, underpaid....the people working here are unhelpful, disinterested and more willing to send you away and tell why they CANT help as opposed to trying to be kind and helpful.2.) People testing for licenses are blatantly cheating, not one person working for DMV cares. Literally theres a friend helping the person takimg the test and theres so many patrons and not enough employees no one is stopping or monitoring the cheating.3.) So many Spanish speaking patrons and no one here can help them.4.) The workers here need training, and more staff is needed.5.) Used to be open on Saturdays and now it is not.

The lady name Jean, I call her mean Jean. Outside Checking everyone's paperwork and telling everyone to go home it's not safe out. She did that to me and told me to go home and mail in my paperwork, it's not safe out. So I went home and mail in my paperwork and dmv sent me back my papers saying to visit the dmv office. So I go back a week later and saw mean Jean. I ask her a question, and she was sooo rude telling me to go home and mail in my paperwork again, and wouldn't answer any of my questions and told me if I had questions to stand in line and ask the teller inside. It felt like I was in the twilight zone such a nightmare. So I stood in line quietly. I then saw mean Jean telling an old fellow to go home it's not safe out, and I just had enough. I told her she can't tell people to go home and she started yelling at me, so I yelled back at her telling her to do her job and stop telling people to go home and that it's not safe out. I told her I was going to write a complaint on her and she said to go ahead. Her co worker told her to calm down, then a gentleman came out and ask me what was the problem? 3 others before me standing outside had the same problems with mean Jean and had my back saying how rude she is to everyone. So the gentlemen said they will take care of me inside... I go inside dmv and everyone is so nice and helpful with a smile. Great customer service. No one wants to be at the dmv, but some of us have to. So why is this lady Jean checking everyone's paperwork telling everyone to go home like we were in nazi Germany ? I don't know but she needs to take a class on how to deal with people and customer service. Such a nightmare dealing with her..... I had to go to the DMV today, and not to my surprise I was so disappointed with the service ! Let's just say the "old man" in the front needs to take classes on how to not be so rude, he has no customer service. I felt like yelling at him to say "look I don't have a receipt, I paid online and don't have a confirmation number it should be in your system!" But it seems like he just wanted to give me a hard time because I watched him treat other costumers kindly, so I'm wondering if it's just people "like me" he just rude to. So he made me fill out two paperwork and told me to come back. 15 minutes later I finish the paperworks I went back and he then gave me my number ticket. I waited for my number to be called, and I talked to a young gentleman that was so helpful and told me that I didn't need paperwork just needed my old registration and ID, it's was all in the system" and everything was settled he was nice and helpful, unlike the old man in the front. I guess you got to have the good and the bad, the ying and the yang, the old and the young...

After waiting in line for 30 min(no appt), got a number and waited in another line for approximately 25 min#called and met with a very angry "acting supr,,"paid my registration with constant interruption from emply needed mgr help.Asked two questions and he told me to wait again while he helped the next person.No process no respect for people's time and rude.

Very confusing signage. Very difficult to get instructions on what to do. Technicians with answers before you tell them why you're there. Forget making an appointment, they don't pay attention to that. And I'm English-speaking!!
