“love that this place opened up around the time i moved into the neighborhood. such a convient lil store!
i always hated the idea of an hour roundtrip walk to the safeway at the bottom of the hill. they have a bunch of stuff for different needs, sure not as expansive as a Super Market/safeway, but perfect for quick grocery runs and snacks.
employees are nice people & its not very busy (atleast the hours i go)”
“THE BEST food EVER. The sausage is so good you need to buy 2x what you need as you'll eat it on the way home! cheeses, beer, golubki, ham, soups! everything is so good and CHEAP and the owner is so COOL! Everything there is GOURMET! go... NOW!”
“I have been here a few times mostly for a coffee and pastry. I have had their babka pastry, chocolate croissant and the yummy bacon and cheese pastry.
What inspired me to write this review though is the service I received today. I called the store to ask if they had forbidden rice. The owner went and looked for me and they had it. But it gets better. As I was there I realized I needed some mirin for a dinner I was to prepare tonight. He said he didn’t have any in the shelves. Then he said he could help me anyway. He went to the back at the sandwich service counter and had a big bottle of it for the food he prepares. He asked me how much I needed and handed me a paper bowl of mirin!! He, the owner, went out of his way like that was awesome. I will continue to patronize this market. Yay for local neighborhood businesses! ??”
“I first began shopping here when I was in elementary school and I would beg my mother or my grandmother to take me. There is a reason I continue to shop here today for my groceries. Diablo Oriental Foods has been an essential way station for Japanese-American families in Contra Costa for many years, providing specialty Japanese and Asian ingredients you can't find at many larger chains.”
8AM - 11:30PM
16250 Foothill Blvd, San Leandro“It's one of the best sandwich spots in the Bay Area. I've been going to this place for the last few years. The owners take great care of me and remember my order. Flavorful sandwiches, good portion, and amazing service. You will not be disappointed no matter what sandwich you ordered.”
“Neighborhood Corner & Liquor Store is a mainstay on MacArthur and staffed with helpful and friendly folks. Good Sëlection of wares behind the counter and not.”
“Always enjoy coming here for a plethora of ingredients you won't find other places. I live in LA and I still find stuff here I can't easily find there. It's just very easy to puruse the aisles and discover some new flavors you haven't experienced before. It's really nice that a city like Hayward has a place like this. Of course, I highly recommend stopping by.”
“Zaa'tar restaurant inside is a hidden gem. I've had their very delicious and satisfying falafel wrap a few times. Come here for yummy yet nutritious food with a big serving size sold for an affordable price.”
“Hardworking people work here. I live not far from Oak Grove Plaza and unfortunately there are often empty shelves there. But in this place there are no such problems.”
8AM - 9PM
785 Oak Grove Rd, Concord“Everything clean and several lines going at once so theres virtually no waiting around for 1 poor sob which makes me glad cus so many places have a line around the corner with 1 poor dude goin at light speed and still crying. Cashier was chill, helpful, and had us on our way in no time.”
“Highly recommended!I bought meet for Passover and I have to say all the family and friends super enjoyed and asked me were I got those beautiful stakes. Also they have so many kosher things to buy and prices are awesome.Service was super .Thank you guys .”

85 Railroad Ave, Danville“One of our favorite trader Joe's. great staff, always pleasant atmosphere and we even found new products we hadn't see at our local TJ, in Fremont. Maybe these will come later...”
“Wonderful location of Trader Joe’s. It is a large and spacious store. The staff is warm and helpful. There’s plenty of parking. It’s a favorite location of mine.”
“This is my favorite Trader Joe's. I like tge way the store is played out, I like the workers, love the location - prices are the same at all TJ's, however, next door is Safeway, and we all know how high they can be.
My only complaint is they keep stop providing some products that I just loved - like now they only provide their frozen pie crust during the Oct - Jan season. Anyone that bakes, bakes all year round ?”
“First visit in over a decade. Don't ask, already did. Very communicative staff. I even met and discussed with the owner a question I packed with myself. Great sandwich from deli. I won't be long at all. They'll tire of..........”
7AM - 10PM
2179 E 14th St, San Leandro“It’s a smaller grocery outlet, but it’s always well stocked. Sometimes lines in here can be crazy though. They’ve got a grab and go cabinet for fresh sandwiches and cold drinks, they surprisingly large wine section for the size of the store, good sized vegetable section.”
“I love Berkeley Bowl because they have fabulous fruits and vegetables - - both organic and conventional. They are really on top of their produce. There are lots of people working there to keep it clean. They have discounted produce that is super ripe--ready to take home and use.I prefer going early in the morning when it's less crowded. I find their aisles to be rather narrow when someone is coming the opposite direction. It can be hard to socially distance in their isles. They have lots of variety. They have fresh fish (wild and farmed) and meat (organic and conventional). I have found the butchers to be friendly and helpful. If you are a senior, they will give you a good cup of coffee (part of my morning ritual if I am there in the morning). They have a very nice bakery if you have a sweet tooth.Their cheese section has cheese from around the world. Besides the bakery with wonderful tasting desserts, they have fresh bread. There deli has Asian foods, Mexican, and desserts. During Covid times--take out only. They clean their shopping carts between uses, and don't let too many people in at once. You put your own groceries into your own bag--unless you buy a paper bag and they then bag it for you.For me, it is kind of a cross between a coop and a large grocery store. I love what they have to offer!!!”
“It's a trader Joe's like all trader shows. Friendly staff. They keep things fairly well stocked throughout the day. I came in this time for the broccoli slaw, potato salad, shrimp, shrimp, dumplings, and because I'm working with a bunch of fruit preserves, trader Joe's vodka”
“No battles for parking (use the Safeway lot) - veggies at Yasi -bread at La Farine - vino from Vino and round out your mini trip to France with coffee at Coles. If you try you can hear footsteps on cobblestone.”
8AM - 9PM
5727 College Ave, Oakland“Trader Joe’s is my go-to market. They don’t carry everything the typical chain grocery store carries, but nearly everything TJ’s does carry is excellent.”
11AM - 6PM
5032 Telegraph Ave, Oakland“I took such a wonderful kimchi workshop here! The instructor was so knowledgeable and the kimchi is delicious. I love this shop for anything I need for a culinary adventure.”
“I've shopped here since 1975. I'm Hawaaian mix and left islands back in '74. This shop carries most of what I need: poi, saimin, ahi, taegu, kimchee, ume, shoyu, diamond cream crackers, guava jelly/jam, lau lau, kalua pig, seeds, etc.”
“If you don't already shop at The Food Mill, you should start. It's a health food store that's been in Oakland since 1933. My current obsession is their crunchy peanut butter. You get a giant jar for under $10. It's freshly ground, so fluffy, nothing is added, and no stirring is needed! They also have a thousand bulk items, hard to find ingredients, fresh baked treats, lots of tasty fake meats, and the staff is so lovely and helpful.”
“Piedmont Grocery Market is a gem when it comes to prepared foods. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious and fresh, reflecting true quality that's worth every penny. What keeps me coming back is their ever-changing menu, which always offers new and exciting styles of food to try. Whether you’re picking up a quick meal or planning a special dinner, you can count on Piedmont Grocery for top-notch options. Highly recommended for anyone who values great food and variety!”
8AM - 8PM
3295 Castro Valley Blvd, Castro Valley“Like a high-end "Whole Foods" Market before Amazon took over, local products and produce, good butcher shop, nice wine shop, bakery and sushi bar, a great Central American restaurant up stairs (The roast chicken and potato brava are to die for!), sandwich and beer bar down stairs, pizza parlor upstairs, live music in the evenings, other miscellaneous shops, a very pleasant place to shop for the home market.”
8:30AM - 9:30PM
2948 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Berkeley“Great Customer Service and Sandwiches I Bought a Dutch Crunch Bread with Beef Salami and Turkey and everything thing on it Excellent Flavor and Taste and freshness THX a 10”

“This is my favorite Safeway. The staff is an asset to this location.
I feel homesick at other Safeways now.
And they have the best fried chicken!”
