“Wells Fargo bank is a typical California bank, so not much to say there. However, this location in Monterey is truly unique. Made from a restored church, the exterior doesn't look like a bank at all, and when you enter, the tall ceiling and other fixtures they preserved are beautiful. Makes you want to have a reason to just go in and check on your account!”

“10 stars. Chase is a Big Bank so it struggles to maintain that personal banking feeling that customers desire. One branch that is succeeding is the Alvarado St. branch in Monterey. You'd barely know it was there, as it is dwarfed by the Portola Hotel, and almost blends in with the adjacent parking garage. But don't overlook this strategically placed branch nor the helpful folks who work there. Pricilla and her boss the branch manager helped me out of a sticky situation. There is a genuine quality about these folks I think you will appreciate. I sure did. If you see Pricilla at the tellers window tell her the guy who brought her flowers to thank her for her exemplary customer service says "Hi".”

“This is my closest branch. Everyone here is very nice. However they seem to always be short on tellers? Typically one working, maybe two if you're lucky. They have updated the ATMs so you can get different denominations of bills, not just $20s which I think is cool. If you need to do business in the branch be prepared to wait, plan ahead.”

“I’m partial to local banks and like to have a personal relationship with them. But - as nice as the folks in the Carmel branch are - they don’t seem very swift. It takes a long time to complete any kind of transaction in the bank. I hear a lot of “I don’t know” and “Call back tomorrow and I’ll have an answer”. They need an online app too. Again - they are Nice to customers and that counts!”

“This is a great location. Very clean and modern inside with extremely helpful staff. I needed to do a Domestic Wire and was in and out in 45 minutes. There is security on site and several ATMs so there's never a line. Nice big parking lot as well.”
