I have been going back and forth with UCU regarding their lack of accurate credit reporting. I was told right here on Yelp in July, 2023 that UCU will start reporting to all 3 credit bureaus. They currently report to only Experian. On July 28, 2023, UCU's own rep replied to me stating the following: person Member Service Rep Jul 28 Good Morning Cynthia, Excited to confirm that I was told we will be reported to all three credit bureaus. As soon as I learn the exact date, I will let you know. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Sheri On February16, 2024, UCU's response contradicted the information I was given 7 months ago: person Member Service Rep Feb 16 Hi there, Thank you for reaching out and expressing your frustration. I will certainly pass along your grievance, as I have not heard of any policy changes on how we report to the credit bureaus. We are constantly evolving and taking the member experience into account. We appreciate your membership and look forward to assisting you in the future. Best, Desire Another disappointing interaction with UCU.

Worst banking experience of my entire life. From account setup to document retrieval to online account updates -- University Credit Union is a steaming pile of mess. This is an honest review. Nobody deserves the headaches this bank gives its customers. Stay away.

I am reposting this and am going to stay within Yelp's guidelines this time. I went to this credit union and the staff member who I interacted with was rude to me. I had not even said a word to him and he opened up with a rude remark. I won't describe the individual this time. But it is the same guy that I wrote about before when the content was removed. Hopefully the Credit Union staff can talk to him and give him proper training.

I have to say I agree with everyone else below. The customer service is not great. I'm on hold now with a male who can barely speak English. He failed at understanding my account numbers four times so finally I requested a supervisor. Let's see how that goes. I used to think their rates were good so what they lack in skill or customer service or process and convenience makes up for it. But recently I referred a friend to use them to buy her new car and their rates were higher than the dealership. But that she found out after wasting three days trying to deal with them over the phone. ao naturally she went with the dealer. its unfortunate as it seems like their getting less deaireable to work woth when it comes to baking or financing needs. trying to get monies transferred to or from them fails more often then not. my online bills have been rejected by them so many times for trasons unknown when funds are available and the numbers they provided are forwarded to the recipient verbatim. i prefer credit unions than big banks. but im starting to question whether its worth the lack in customer services skills and convenience. anyway. to sum up. the customer service is not great. the phone system is a labyrinth of stress and the rates dont seem to be better than other places anymore. oh well. if you plan to call them for existing account service. make sure to block out probably an hour plus of your valuable time. customer service people tend to forget that they are getting paid to be there. but we the customers are not. we lose time and money sitting waiting in ever growing frustration ps. im still in hold as i write this.

I still haven't received my pink slip since COVID-19 it's been 3 years. I paid off my car and they have yet to send me my pink slip. I am not pleased at all. I've called, sent emails, messages they gave me excuse after excuse. Help!

Pathetic customer service the staff who answered the phone do not understand the standard English therefore hard to communicate with. Second, they repeat my question and put me on hold then come back repeating the question again making it clear they do not understand. This is no way of running any business. I submitted a complaint thru the website to the CEO's office and a female left a voicemail to call UCU back. I proceeded to call back and a male answered and said he works in member services and had a hard time answering my question. He was speaking in a low voice making it hard to decipher what he was saying. This is not what I want, or nobody wants when calling a bank!! I am having issues with my debit card retailers cannot process refunds it is stating BLOCKED. I need assistance!!!

I have been with the University of credit Union for the last 25 years. When a problem occurs with my account they fix it. I have no idea why people will give them a 2 1/2 stars. I love UCU. I work night shift at UCLA... I only wish that they would open back up at 0700. That was the most busiest hours because the workers from the night shift will come in and take care of our business. At 0900 (not good) for the night shift, That's my only complaint. UCU isn't open at 0700.

Worst bank I've ever had to work with. They want your money and they make it so hard to make a payment yet they want your money. Have been trying to make payments for months and the people over the phone type in the wrong numbers because half of them don't understand or speak English. They the payment gets cancelled. This place is a pure joke.

Closed all of my accounts with them. "Is there some kind of confirmation number that you'll send me, for the transaction?" "Yes, we'll send you an email." Reader, they sent an email TO MY ONLINE BANKING MESSAGING CENTER. Which I cannot access. Because I closed my accounts with them. Can't make this shit up. Also I found out this week that they bounced a check to my corporate card account WITHOUT TELLING ME.

The worst customer service. Comically bad, in fact. They send you on a wild goose anytime you want to close a CD (so that they it will automatically rollover after 10 days, I suspect) I am on the third try getting mine closed. Today their 800 line is malfunctioning, although when you can get to an actual human, they function awfully as well. Their mobile app is a mess. As is their website. Please avoid this institution like it is the plague.

I've been a member here since college. I always transfer my auto loans to UCU after I purchased it through the dealerships. No issue before. This year, all of a sudden, they added a loan for CPI add on of $1260 on both of my car loans balance when I carry an auto insurance coverage with AAA for 10+ years. What angered me the most is a UCU representative reached out to me for a copy of the evidence of insurance in September. I provided it on the same day that she called even I was super sick!!! She said everything should be fine now. This month, I noticed the monthly payments on both my car loan were both increased by $210!!! They said I never provided them with the insurance information. I gave them the representative's name, they located the documents and explained not sure what happened. Today, they sent me a letter stating that it was not satisfactory because it didn't have a certain verbiage. This is outrageous and unethical with no advance notice. I gave them everything that they asked when I applied for the loan and followed their instructions each time that they called me. I will not use them again for any type of consumer loans.

Pathetic service have called 5 times and sent at least 5 emails, have a issue with a pink slip for a car we purchased a few years ago, was told the department that is handling this would call back in 24-48 hours That has never happened, did receive some help from Desiree but now she won't respond to my emails. I'm thinking they are on verge of going out of business, beware After posting all the sudden got great service, not sure if I would have gotten a call back if I didn't. After finally getting call back the 2 ladies were great and resolved all my issues right away, I received the pink slip in around a week just like they said. I feel that UCU needs to improve there customer service when a member calls in it shouldn't be this hard

As a long time member of the University Credit Union (UCU) since 2004, I am now writing this review because I've had a VERY BAD experience with UCU recently. It affected my Credit Report and my Credit Score that I've worked so hard to maintain an "Exceptional" standing with the credit bureaus. I am NOT and WILL NOT recommend the University Credit Union to anyone! The reasons are as follows:1) I did not authorize UCU to open any accounts without my full understanding of it.2) I was lied to and/or misguided by at least three UCU representatives when I spoke on the phone with them.3) I reached out to UCU several times but no resolutions. When I was on the phone with Tiffiny John and other representatives in person and on the phone, all of them kept asking, "do you want to close the account?" I believe they all thinking that by asking me the latter question would be acceptable to me and closing the new account would fix the NEGATIVE impact on my credit report. As far as I know and as long as I've been closely watching my Credit Report, by closing a freshly opened new account does not fix the NEGATIVE impact on my Credit Report nor take back 10 points that was deducted from my Credit Score.4) I had to "dispute" the account that UCU opened without my full understanding of it. I started the "dispute" three days ago and I know it's going to take time away from me. It's stressful thinking about it.5) Based on my recent bad experience with UCU, their staff members do not have sufficient Customer Service training, Banking training, and Lending training.I must say, I do not like to write negative reviews, but I felt that I need to because I believe I should inform others so people will not have to go through this bad, stressful and time consuming situation that I experienced with University Credit Union Bank.
