This bank is horrible bad customer service the discriminate you. I was waiting in line and one Asian gentleman walked in like nothing starting talking their language literally they took care of him and I was waiting in line for like 15 minutes..

I've been a customer since 2008. I haven't had too many problems over the years but, man.... When I do, customer service is beyond frustrating and misleading. After 15 years, I'm moving away and needed to close my account. When I called customer service earlier this week, an agent told me to simply transfer all the money out and when the balance is 0 they will close the account. I did that, the transfer didn't go out - but instead in (? From where?) and then "out" but not actually out because it still isn't showing in my other account. As a result, the account didn't close, I was charged all sorts of autopay fees on things that I thought would just bounce back and things were shipped to my old address 600 miles away. When I call again - this time, upset - I could barely get an agent to actually listen to what the problem was, and was told that I would need to go into a branch to close the account, contrary to what the previous agent told me. I am 600 miles away from a branch. Broken English and thick accents aren't helpful either. Call the PC police, but it's just true. Realized today, after all these years, that this is a bank for Chinese people primarily. So maybe I'm the retard here. It is Chinatown, after all. I guess I never saw these things before. When I opened the account I had two businesses in Chinatown. Regardless of any language barriers, I have pretty consistently found their customer service to be pretty frustrating, especially if you're dealing w someone at this branch. Anyway, long story short... use American banks or local credit union. East West is lame. I'd expect they'd maybe treat longtime customers a little better than this. My issue was never resolved. After three calls today. All I want is for that transfer to go through, but it just seems like they're holding on to my moneyChina smdh

Was there recently for a remittence. Certainly not the best in customer service. The overall atmosphere was so bad. More importantly, It just don't make sense when you say you can't make an exception to your own policy, especially there was an emergency for your customers. Or, at least try to be more flexible. This is just for this location and one particular banker. Still decent bank though but definitely moving locations.

This is a great bank for anyone who has family or business connections in Mainland China or Hong Kong. The personnel goes the extra mile to use a cliche.

Chinatown branch is so terrible... We have been banking there for almost 30 years and they closed our account without telling us.. Since we don't use this account so often and they didn't even send us the letter. How terribly and the supervisor name Wendy was so rude. What kind of customer service?
