“10 out of 5-stars! The staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about cycling. They give no-nonsense honest advice with pros and cons without trying to push a particular sale.My brother who lives abroad needed a new road bike. Colin gave good advice and possible upgrade options including what bike travel bag we should get. Chris did an awesome job with the fitting based on your preferences. Finally, a staff member (sorry forgot his name) helped us in getting the bike ready in the travel bag. 200% recommended!”

“We bought our son a new skateboard here a few weeks back. This place has an amazing selection of boards, tracks, wheels, etc, but more importantly is run by people who *know* skateboarding, are patient in offering advice and just really nice to deal with (even to people who know nothing about skateboarding). Great store, great people - highly recommend.”

“Outstanding! Outstanding! Customer Care here is superb and the return policy!!! WOAH. 60 days and you are able to use the shoes the whole time. My customer care rep spent a great deal of time with me talking me through all of the trail shoes and finding a shoe that worked just right for me! Recommend to all runners/walkers/anyone who wears shoes! I will certainly be back! Also MAJOR shout out to the customer care rep who helped me! He was seriously fantastic (12/8/23). The best shoes rep I have ever had!”

“I own a Taekwondo school in San Mateo and work with three different supply companies. While, I don't love their TKD uniforms (they specialize in Kung Fu and karate), their customer service and specialty items are outstanding! They are wonderful to work with and have gone out of their way to help me on several occasions.”

“Guys, this place just screams awesomeness! I highly recommend you support these kind of local businesses specially redwood trading post! Very big reason: 1) customer service! This is probably the most friendliest place to buy work wear clothing, foot wear & camping gear. They take their time and patiently explain products for any choices! Their return policy is also outstanding! There are times that I really don't need to buy anything because I have mountains of gear... but it's just the great quality time spent in this place definitely worth the support to give business! Plane and simple! Highly recommend!”

“This location is always well-stocked and the staff is super chill and knowledgeable. Last time I came in, Nick was very accommodating in spite of them being understaffed and got me into a sweet snowboard setup.”

“I went to University Avenue, Palo Alto on a leisure walk. Saw a KEEN store on the way, and I am also looking for a Hiking shoe by the way for simpler hikes. I was assisted by Sonia, who was so patient, meticulous, and nice. Measuring my feet, explaining about multiple shoes and their quirks. Loved the KEEN NXIS speed and picked up a pair of. I love the shoes, it's comfy and fit for my feet. This was a wholesome shopping experience, even better than the ones in REI, which themselves are generally good.”

“I had a great experience becoming a member and purchasing snowboard/accessories at Sports Basement because Jack and friends were willing to help out and teach me how to choose the right board and boots. I'm especially grateful for Jack's patience and expertise. Will come back and buy more :)”

“Amazing store. You walk in and they are friendly and helpful, do a full scan, run test, sole test, etc all free of charge, let you try on whatever you want with expert guidance, and are super helpful on finding products without being pushy. One saleswoman, Genesis, was particularly amazing. I needed new road-running shoes, and she took me through all the tests, was unbelievably friendly and professional, suggested the shoes I would need and what might be better or worse for me, and pointed out various things about my running style, feet, etc. All super fast and super fun. She then helped me try on all the different shoes she suggested (she can carry five+ boxes at once... wow), and was just the right amount of helpful, stepping away when I needed time to try them out, and coming back (almost psychically) when I wanted advice or had questions. I ended up getting shoes and soles and would easily pay more than what I did for them. I even bought the store membership (I never do this) because of how clearly Genesis made it out to be helpful to me.Overall, wonderful store with a great philosophy, and absolutely one of the best salespeople I've talked to (Genesis). I went on a run afterwards with my new shoes and my half-marathon time went down by a staggering 40 minutes from 2:36 to 1:58.”

“This is a great shop with a ton of product in a small space. I needed a pair of turf shoes for a person with super flat, super wide feet. Normally I have to special order shoes for my clown feet, but they were able to pull out 3 different pairs of wide turf shoes in my size. The person who helped me was super nice and helpful to boot.”

“What an amazing company! I took in my 97 year old client last week to have a zipper on a jacket repaired. The turn around time for a repair was 12 weeks OR they offered him a new jacket! They didn't have the exact style of his very old light weight fleece and instead he picked out a much more expensive reversible fleece/ jacket AND it was all at no cost to him!!! My client was so excited and is now planning all the places we can go in his new jacket. The prices at Patagonia may seem a bit high to some, but I'd argue that the quality and customer service make it 100% worth it! Also- I almost forgot to mention that my clients old jacket will get donated somewhere by Patagonia and will not end up in a dump or the ocean. Love this!”

“Love this gem of a store in Newpark Mall. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. My husband grew up in this area, but we now live out of state. Every trip home, we come here to find a few things for his favorite teams. They always have a good selection of sportswear to choose from. The owners remember us, and welcome us back with friendly conversation and make it a pleasant experience every time. If you’re a sports fan, and your favorite teams are in the Bay Area, I highly recommend a visit to this store!”

“Clothing and equipment co-op (membership optional) for outdoor recreation pursuits with a service department for bikes and skis. Camping, backpacking, climbing, running, and hiking are all well-represented here.Next door is a large space for "regear," which is REI's version of reselling used goods that have been returned. Selection varies as does condition, so check carefully for damage before buying.”

“Such fast service (in partnership with Amazon) I ordered this paddle board/kayak last Friday and it arrived 3 days early! It was packaged great and all parts arrived in one piece. Everything is clear and easy to assemble and I can’t wait to get out and try it. I love the carry bag that allows you to keep everything together. So far I am impressed and I am sure I will be once I get out on the water!”

“Leigh is an awesome coach! Easy to get along with, and provides great insights that deliver results. There may be 10 things wrong with my swing, but each lesson he'll prioritize the 1-2 high-impact things I should focus on. In the first 2 lessons, I went from inconsistently hitting fat and thin shots to getting consistent ball strike, which I had never been able to do before! He uses slow-motion video capture to analyze your swing, identify issues, recommend solutions, and explains the theory behind it very well.I look forward to my regular sessions with Leigh - getting the coaching, practicing on the driving range, and seeing my game improve over time!”

“We went to the store at Palo Alto. Alex was very patience explaining to us about everything related to bike. It's true fixing bike in this area is expensive, but you have to pay the proper labor rate per hour for them to survive living in this area. So there's no way around. As long they deliver the service, you just have to pay the Palo Alto rate.”

“One of the VERY few shops at the Stanford shopping center with staff that's helpful and accommodating. Also found the employees at this location to be much more helpful than at the Santana Row store. Last year, when I was in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy, one of the employees even pulled up a little stool for me to sit on while my husband tried on pants. My husband can be very picky with materials/features/colors, and they were happy to discuss his options, even advising him which other brands and stores to check out for the specific running shorts he wanted.”

“Great equipment and the staff are SO friendly here. They take plenty of time to explain things, understand your needs, and empathize with whatever issues you've got going on. Definitely would recommend!”

“The Athleta in Palo Alto is my go-to shop for athleisure clothing. As much as I appreciate the convenience of online shopping, I love being able to try things on in store when I'm not sure about a style or I'm not sure about the sizing of something. The store is always very clean and pleasant, and the staff is courteous and helpful.”
