“Top Shop Auto has serious expertise for care and maintenance of a ton of car types including Land Cruisers, Lexus LX570s and other off road (and on road) vehicles. They won’t be the least expensive but if you care about long term quality care of a vehicle, they’re a great choice. And yes, I am an actual reviewer. Just took my Lexus GX460 there for a basic oil change and transmission fluid drain and fill.”

“I am not in the habit of leaving reviews but have to shout out Mario and his team for being amazing mechanics - Mario is friendly, communicative, transparent about prices, waits for consent before moving forward with any repairs, explains clearly what the issue is in a way that is easy to understand but without being mansplainy or condescending, and also won’t pressure you to do any work that isn’t essential. Both times I have been he has kept the car part that was the issue to show me exactly what happened. After my previous long term mechanic shut down in 2020, I had a few bad experiences going to other places that took advantage of my trust/naivety and lack of knowledge about cars. A few friends recommended MJs (which funnily enough is in the same location as my old trusted mechanic!) and both the times I have been were great experiences. And just found out they do smog checks too! So glad to have found a new reliable trusted mechanic. Thanks to the whole crew at MJs!”

“Really good experience here. Alex charged over $1000 less than Berkeley garages for a Honda CRV A/C compressor replacement (which comes with a 2 yr warranty) + new brake pads. He also got us in the day after we called and finished within a few hours. I'll definitely be returning.”
“Initially I was very unhappy because of the cost of the repair. I told them I didn’t have that much and they reviewed the repair and determined my hoses were fine, just a little old. That brought it down about 300.00. I pulled the money together and let them proceed.
I was out of a car for a week, not happy about that. But that’s where my experience changed. When I finally got my car back, not only did they fix the power steering problem, but they determined that my last mechanic failed to bleed the air out when they removed power steering to get to my a/c pump. That’s what caused it to fail. After that repair, I also had a nightmare of electrical problems. Transmission light, engine light, brake light…though the car was fine.
You guys put the car back together correctly, fixing all of the electrical issues caused by the last repair. The car runs like when I first bought it. The last mechanic told me I should just trash my car and get a new one. You guys reminded me why I bought it in the first place. It’s running like a dream. No weird electrical stuff, no dash lights, and I can steer with one finger, no power steering whine.
It was stressful getting it fixed, and very expensive, but in retrospect, the quality of the repair made it all worth it. On that basis alone, I will be back. Eventually. Hopefully MUCH later.

For many years, my family and many of my neighbors have gone to JAC. Whether it is diagnosing issues or simply doing the car maintenance, Justin does excellent work and is always fair. It is amazing to have a great mechanic and outstanding person right in our neighborhood. It is a family run business and they treat you well. “Very honest person. I had issues with transmission valve of Subaru. Dealership said it’s not under warranty and would require $ 2,500. Brought the car to Dan. He researched and gave me a printout of Subaru extended warranty which I showed to Subaru dealership and was able to get the valve fixed at not cost to me. I only paid Dan 50$ for his evaluation. He is most honest mechanic I have come across.”

I asked about changing air filter, the owner said they checked the condition and confirmed I don’t need to replace it yet. “I've used the Repair Shop with Sal and his crew a bunch of times over the last couple years. They have always done great work at a reasonable price which is becoming harder to find these days. They are also a customer first shop and are great about explaining the work they think you need and cost before they start. If you have any questions or issues with the work done they do everything possible to answer those question or will ask you to bring the car back to look at any issues you might have.
