“I have had the best experience working with this company! They are very prompt and reliable. I can always count them for the best prices. I would highly recommend them.”

2661 Blanding Ave, Alameda“Everyone I've ever met at a Pet Food Express is super friendly and helpful and genuinely cares for pets. And you can get the buy 3 get one free deal on most items in the store.”
“A smaller size store, but the staff are big dog lovers. The love my black lab, Buddy. Their were tears when he passed. Now, they treat my new lab with the same care and love. When I came in with my arm in a sling, they grabbed the big bag and carried it out to my car without my asking for help. Great staff!”

4814 Broadway, Oakland“We've been coming to Petvet since our first dog years ago. The clinic itself is still just as awesome and affordable. Definitely expect to wait as it's first come, first serve, but the vaccination line moves pretty fast. Exams line takes a bit more time. Today specifically Annette was great getting our pets vaccinated even with our antsy ones.
As far as the pet store section, it's also super helpful especially when it comes to finding quality and/or hard to find pet products. So many products to choose from and hard to resist especially when my daughter visits with me.”
“Wow! We called for carriers for our cats for our flight and Damian knew the exact ones for TSA. When we came in, he went and got the carriers and he also recommended an awesome calming serum for our cats on the flight. He was amazing, knowledgeable, and just easy to talk to. A+ service. My Mother, my husband and I commented as we walked out of Pet Express, what a great guy and it’s rare you find that kind of customer service. Anyways, felt like I had to talk about our experience, because it is rare. Thanks Damian for your exceptional customer service! All the best to you in your future.

5108 Broadway, Oakland“Lots of parking, very convenient to shop after grocery shopping and Safeway. Friendly staff and they have enclosed kennel area inside and outside of store for training classes on weekends for our puppy. Easy vaccination available Tuesday through Saturday at the vet clinic in the back of store.”
“Excellent customer service and generally great selection with an unbeatably large parking lot (for the area). Their inventory system isn’t always great at updating (not this location’s fault), but the staff are excellent about checking shelves and inventory in advance if you call ahead and are also happy to call other locations for you if they’re out of a particular item.”

500 Center Ave, Martinez“Review: Exceptional Service at Pet Food Express - Martinez
After a visit to the vet, we were advised to switch our 3 month old boxers food, and I found myself feeling overwhelmed by the options available at several pet food stores. The sheer number of brands, ingredients, and dietary requirements was too much. I gave up and decided to try again the next day!
My perspective changed when we walked into Pet Food Express in Martinez. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted by friendly employees who welcomed us warmly, the initial impression set the tone for an enjoyable shopping experience.
After a few minutes of browsing the food selections, Christopher, a remarkably knowledgeable staff member, approached us. He asked if we needed assistance, actually Christopher said, "do you know what you're looking for or is there something that I can help you find?"
I shared the information from our vet, and in no time, Christopher was walking us through all the food options that matched the recommendations of our vet! Not pointing out, not try this or try that actually walking us through the food options that met the vets recommendations!
His depth of knowledge was truly impressive. He could explain not only the different products available but also the specific ingredients and their benefits. I found myself standing there, amazed at how easily Christopher rattled off details like protein percentages and ingredient sourcing. It was reassuring to have such expertise guiding us through the decision-making process.
Christopher also informed us about promotions, like the buy 3 get the 4th free deal, which encouraged us to explore the various toys and supplements available (which we wanted to buy anyways!).
By the end of our visit, we felt confident about the dog food we selected for our new Boxer puppy!
This experience transformed us into lifelong customers. Not only did we get the puppy food we needed, but we also gained a reliable resource for any future pet care products. I wholeheartedly recommend seeking out Christopher at Pet Food Express if you're in Martinez—his dedication and customer service truly deserve recognition. If he isn't the manager, then he certainly has the qualities that make him a standout leader in customer experience!”
“Great location and everyone is very helpful with the most detailed of questions or requests. I also used their training program for my 2 dogs when they were pups and have utilized the vet service when I needed a fundamental shot while other places are booked out for weeks. Kathy has been particularly helpful with questions on food allergies and other health related products/toys for our beloved pups. Great service, always nice to go in and see them!”
“This place is great and everyone here is super informational! Special Shout out to BRE!!! She helped us set up our two new ball python thanks showed us some afresh things around the store and was able to reference to recourses from her personal collection of animal information! I LOVED THAT !!! I hope she decides to own her own Petco franchise one day!!”
“Very happy with the selection although they didn't have one item. I still was able to get what my furbaby needed. The prices were reasonable compared to our pet store we go to in Arizona. Now that we live in California this is our go to pet food market from now on. Great customer service as well.”

Inside Pet Food Express, 500 Center Ave, Martinez“We started coming to PFE in Martinez when we adopted our new puppy Brodie. The food he was on when we adopted him was causing him troubles so we went into PFE and Rachel taught us so much about dog food, I had zero clue about! I left feeling extremely knowledgeable about dog food and a strategy for our Brodie! We are two weeks into the new food post transition and all of our concerns/issues we were having with Brodie are gone and he is feeling so much better! I am so grateful for Rachel taking her time to educate us and help us make the best choice for our Brodie! Thank you PFE”
“This is our local spot for hay, treats, and pellets for our Ziggy Smalls! We stopped purchasing from Amazon and SPS, due to poor quality of 2nd cut Timothy...Ziggy was basically using it as his litter vs eating it. purchasing local here, supports his mission and ensures a safe haven for rabbit and Guinea pig owners so we feel good about coming here. We adore James and he's always helpful and kind when we visit. He was able to give advice when Ziggy had too much "wet poop", even after changing his daily amount of fresh greens. Thank you James! We also found out about them via local Facebook group: "rabbits of the Bay Area".”

“Nicole worked with my mini Goldendoodle puppy, Benji and me since he was about 4 months old. Although I had also been taking Benji to group training for his socialization, having training at home was invaluable. Nicole is so attentive to the little things I would never have noticed that needed to be addressed. Making the adjustments she shared was so helpful in Benji's training. Nicole is thorough, warm and shares so much good information - during the session and after. I highly recommend her!”
“I brought my cat here after she had been in a cone of shame for almost 8 weeks recovering from a tail injury. They had good availability for an appt on my day off and were great at communicating the services included. They listened to my questions and concerns. I also appreciated that they came out and asked me if they could do a flea treatment after taking her back and seeing she had fleas. It was only $15 extra so I was cool with it. The appt was about 2.5 hours and they called me when she was ready to be picked up. She came back all clean and smelling like flowers ? I would recommend them to anyone with a cat who is terrified at the thought of having to bathe them at home. The staff at Clip n Clean who bathe cats are the true heroes ?”
“We love walking down and grabbing yummy food and treats for our cats. The staff is always friendly and one of our favorite things is to see what rescues they're hosting from Hopalong!”

785 Oak Grove Rd, Concord“This place is top notch not only because of the products they sell but because of the staff; they are amazing. They know a lot about all their products and if they don't they ask others that know. I've gotten so many helpful tips from them since having my dog for over a year now. This is my go to store. It's always nice to see their smiling faces.”
“Visited today for the first time and had a splendid experience! I was greeted kindly upon entering the store and gently offered assistance. I had a couple questions and the employee offered an extra step to help me remedy a blunder I’d made with an online/pick-up in store order. They had me checked out and on my way quickly and exuded friendly professionalism and knowledge. Highly recommend this location - I will absolutely be back specifically for this level of magical experience!”

425 Hartz Ave, Danville“This place is great! I was headed for a road trip with my brand new 10wk old pup (risky I know). She totally outfitted us with a great new car seat and all the right chew toys, harness and treats. The lady (possibly owner) could not have been more helpful! She was knowledgeable and guided me to make some great purchases because of her advice. I can’t wait to go back as puppy grows. Btw he loves his car seat and was an angel with just the right toys and treats. I highly suggest Mollys for all your dog gear!”
“This is a great store. Friendly staff, well stocked food and supplies and a clean area with tubs to wash dogs. Staff always available to consult about food recommendations. Love how they offer treats to the pets with smiles on their faces.”

“The manager, David, and staff member Tessa are so knowledgeable and helpful. This store is the best Petco I’ve visited and I travel in an rv and have been in many Petco stores. Their recommendations and care and concern have helped my dog, Lucy, get the best food and treats for her health. Her skin is shinier and she sheds less and she is so much healthier thanks for Walnut Creek / South California Blvd, store. I am so impressed with this Petco and how the store is managed and how their staff is trained to provide excellent customer service. The staff cares and connects with the customers. So impressive. Thank you for helping me and Lucy. I appreciate you!”
“"Open Paw - Good Habits Are Hard to Break." This review is based on attendance at several lectures by Open Paw speakers as well as direct experience with the Open Paw program and the programs founders. (BTW, while I love cats, I own 3 dogs and work with dogs on a daily basis. My bias therefore, leads me to write about dogs.) Open Paw is a multi-faceted approach to making companion pets (more) adoptable, educating pet owners (preferably before an adoption), and keeping pets in the home once they are adopted. When the Open Paw program is employed at the animal shelter level, staff, volunteers and visitors to the shelter are encouraged to feed the dogs part of their daily food ration for displaying appropriate behavior (sitting quietly instead of barking and lunging) at the front of the kennel. The dogs get lots of repetition for this appropriate behavior throughout the day and dogs that are shy or aggressive around people learn that the approach of strangers is a good thing - this is how they get their dinner! Special care is also given in the Open Paw program to teach and maintain housebreaking by ensuring that the shelter dogs get adequate time out of the kennel - housebroken dogs shouldn't be forced to soil their kennel. (In most shelter situations, the mental and physical health of the dogs is constantly deteriorating. Constant barking, lack of physical exercise and mental stimulation as well as inadequate levels of staff and volunteers to get the dogs out frequently enough - these are the ingredients for doggie stress and deterioration found in most shelters.) In and out of the shelters, Open Paw strives to educate prospective pet owners BEFORE they adopt. Far too many dogs are returned to shelters because the new owners don't have realistic expectations of their new companion and they don't know how to resolve insanely simple problems. Post-adoption, Open Paw continues its efforts to educate pet owners and handlers with the goal of keeping the new pet in the home for a lifetime. In addition to a vast amount of resources available on the website, Open Paw also offers - for free - a electronic (pdf) file of "Before You Get Your Puppy", by Dr. Ian Dunbar. (Dunbar - a very well known and respected veterinarian, animal behaviorist, dog trainer, and writer - revolutionized the dog training world when he opened "Sirius Puppy Training". He is also the founder of Open Paw.) The Open Paw program and what it strives for is nothing short of brilliant. The priceless information is appropriate for anyone who might come into contact with domesticated animals. Pet lovers, owners, the general public as well as people that don't like pets - all would benefit from OU (Open Paw University). Check it out, get educated & gain some knowledge about our fuzzy friends! This is pure win-win-win!”
“Our pupp has been going to happy dog spa for some 6-7 years now. Over the years we’ve tried others and usually regretted it.This place truly cares for our fur baby who is super anxious about grooming. They are reliable, fast and caring and do an amazing job.”
“This place is amazing. I love the friendliness of the workers and owner. They take great care of our pups when we bring them for baths and haircuts. My dogs (boys) are happy come and leaving when they are here. Not to mention they smell great and look great too.I also love the care they put into the products they use and have in the store.”
“The manager and team at this store are amazing. They remember customer names(and more importantly, pets’ names. And they really know their products - making recs on foods to try if your dog is having any issues. I’m really grateful to have them so close to where we live.”
