“I had an appointment with Dr. Grigoryan today after waiting about three months to be seen. I'm so glad I chose Dr. Grigoryan from the doctors I had screened. From the moment I walked in, her staff was polite and professional. I arrived 15-20 minutes early in case there were additional forms to complete, though I had done everything online, which I greatly appreciated.
After my information was verified, the MAs took my vitals, and Dr. Grigoryan saw me right on time. She spent a solid 45 minutes with me, thoroughly reviewing my chart, family history, and patient history, and genuinely showed interest in what brought me to her as a new patient. She asked all the right questions and was respectful, nice, and attentive. I valued her insights and initial diagnosis of my concerns.
What impressed me even more was that I could do all my lab work right there at her office, rather than going to a separate laboratory. Since I wasn’t fasting, I'll be returning next week for that. The office is welcoming and chic, and parking was super easy. Despite having other patients waiting, Dr. Grigoryan never rushed me, showing her genuine care for patient well-being.
Thank you, Dr. Grigoryan and staff, for making my first visit memorable. I'm looking forward to future visits for my general health.”

Dr. Avanes is extremely thorough, uses tests so no "guess work" but really wants to find the source of medical issues in order to resolve them the best way possible. Dr. Ocampian is the same. The staff as really friendly. You know you are in good, competent hands.”

“I selected Dr. Yau as my primary care physician based on his Yelp reviews and my first office visit. Since then I have been even more impressed with each appointment. First, the business and administrative staff is friendly and efficient. I have had very little waiting time and the post-visit follow ups by staff are great. Second, the nurses are calm and conscientious. I liked my last primary care physician but everyone at his office seemed harried and overworked, while Dr. Yau's team (they really do feel like a team) seem to be comfortable in their roles. Last but not least there is Dr. Yau himself. He is caring, warm and comprehensive in his approach. He seems genuinely interested and curious about my health. He is an exceptional communicator; for instance, in offering explanations about treatment alternatives and recommended approaches. On top of all that, this is a rare facility in Monterey Park where those who speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese can feel welcome.”

“I've had this practice as my primary care facility with Dr. Andrew Yen being my PCP. Every time I was in need Dr. Yen was very helpful, and really took the time and effort to help me with what I needed. I wanted to leave this review also because, in the last 3/4 months I had some issues that caused me to call the office many times. And, literally, every time I talked to nurses, or administrators there, they were always super kind and helpful and that goes a long way when you're already stressed out because of a medical issue. So I totally recommend this facility and their staff :)”
“My experience at Optum as a new patient with Dr. Avakian: Everyone was really nice, professional, and the whole process was very quick... the quickest appt ever (yay I work so I like fast). No sitting in the lobby and doctor's office forever, what a switch. Dr. Avakian is a good listener, good eye contact, very attentive, covered everything and more, I really liked her. Dr. Avakian makes you feel very comfortable. She's not snobby, smiles, and has a good manner about her. She was open to questions, and I liked the fact that when I talked she didn't ignore me. She has wonderful bedside manner during checkups and has been super open and honest with me and my husband about parenting and doing the best we can in raising them and that has been so encouraging as new parents. “Descanso Pediatrics is wonderful. Unfortunately, they went through a considerable change in structure and system changes (tech) during peak winter madness, but doctors and nursing staff are not to be blamed for that. Dr. Castro has been a fantastic primary doctor, but my children have seen all of the doctors in the practice over the years, and I can assure you all of them are knowledgeable, professional, and kind. Not a bad one in the bunch. I disagree with the negative comments on here, but I have a feeling they are being posted out of frustration and anger (which are understandable because it is frustrating when you want your child to be seen and they are busy), but let's not disparage a group of people doing there best to help children during the busy winter.”
