“Alphonso, it was an honor meeting you and spending time with you on this New Years Day 2024.We are so glad to have met you and spent time this evening tasting and having a glass of this pure gold. We also met a wonderful couple, Gary and Antoinette, planning their wedding. The sunset was just as good as the wine.”

“Visited as a vendor in my first show and although it was a very nice relaxed atmosphere there were not many people that turned out and I don't think there were any announcements or promotions leading up to the event to put the word out. I didn't see any. It was left to the vendors to advertise about the event the day of. If I attend in the future I will try to get more information and see if I can help with posting announcements leading up to the event. Everyone there was professional and helpful and ultimately it was a great learning experience. It would be a great little fair of people know to come.”

“Very nice winery. The scenery is amazing. We did a tasting and it was a wonderful experience. David M was super friendly and knowledgeable. The wines were quite good and reasonably priced. Honestly, it was much better experience than the ones we had in Napa. Definitely will come back if in the area.”

“My partner and I explored this state park for the first time on Thursday. It's pretty spread out so there is a lot of walking if you do more than the museum but it's beautiful out here. If you come on a weekday there is likely going to be a field trip so I would recommend a weekend. There is a cafe in the park that we tried and enjoyed (see my review for the Argonaut Cafe) and the museum was interesting but just walking around the park was my favorite part since there was a lot to learn outside of the museum as well. I found this place more interesting than Sutter's Fort so I would check this place out if you are interested in the history of the gold rush.”

“Highly recommend Earthtrek for anyone looking to make a whitewater rafting trip along the American River. We stayed in their riverside deluxe tents and really enjoyed the location which despite being in near triple digit temperatures with the weather was very cool thanks to the location along the river. Jerry is a great host and an excellent cook. Meals were outstanding and well balanced. OARS is next to Earthtrek which made the location very convenient. Thank you Jerry!”

“Wow, where to start?? Jane and everyone at BOMV was so kind and caring with our wedding process from our first tour to the big day and beyond! We visited 14 (!!) venues and considered 20 more, but we went with BOMV because it was number one in beauty, customer service, amenities, and value!! The venue is so stunning that we only needed minimal decor and let the natural and architectural beauty shine through. We used the hilltop ceremony site, the Villa for cocktail hour, and the vineyard club for the reception, and doing so made the day feel like it was three events in one, with each part offering something unique. Jane and the BOMV team were always so quick to respond to our millions of questions and provide helpful information which gave us reassurance throughout the whole crazy wedding planning processes. We stayed with our wedding party in the Villa the night of the wedding and it was one of the best decisions we made because we had SO much fun and really wowed everyone with the gorgeous estate. Thank you BOMV for making our big day so perfect! We hope to have a reason to visit soon ❤️”

“Such a beautiful wedding venue! We got married here in July of 2023. Everything was perfect and so special thanks you the Monte Verde team and the wedding coordinator Sydney. Every part of the process was made easy from the planning to the big day itself. When the day arrived, Sydney ensured everything was set up and that we were on time. There was not a moment of stress leading up to our day, which is exactly what we wanted. The food was wonderful, the ambiance was light and fun. We ended up staying at the Inn the night of our wedding which was so worth it. We got to say goodbye to all of our guests, which is what we wanted. In the morning, the Monte verde team had boxed everything up neatly and placed the items by the door for us.Overall it was a beautiful day with great food, great memories and one we will never forget!”

“The El Dorado County Fair occurs annually on the third Thursday of June through to Sunday. This year's 2023 fair ran from June 15-18. The theme was Country Nights and Carnival Lights... all day and night. I've been attending this fair for quite some time. My favorite events to watch are the livestock auction, horse riding drill team event, and the John Studebaker wheelbarrow racing. All of these shout out "community" and is unique to the area. I enjoy watching the auction and seeing the youngsters show their animals... pigs, turkeys, goats, rabbits, and Angus cattle. Plus it's pretty neat listening to the fast talking wise cracking auctioneer. The wheelbarrow barrel racing is a signature event unique to this fair. Yup, the race is named after the auto manufacturer. Contestants run an obstacle course pushing a wheelbarrow and filling a gunny sack filled with dirt. There's even a water hazard. Fun fact as a young man, John Studebaker made his way to Placerville to gold mine and ended up making wheelbarrows instead. With his hard earned money, he moved back to the Midwest to start manufacturing automobiles with his brothers.Must try food: +The local chapter of the 20/30 club makes a pretty awesome tasting taco. Slightly fried crispy shell tacos. And at $5, it's a bargain compared to the other food stand vendors. +My other favorite food vendors that were locally based was the Love Birds Coffee stand. They sell coffee drinks , doughnut, waffles, cookies, and Krispy treats. The baked goods are all homemade and hefty sized. The prices were a bit cheaper than the other food stands. I had a flavored iced coffee... delicious!!! +Some folks that we shared a picnic table with raved about another local vendor... Holy Grail Grill. The pulled pork soft tacos were outstanding! 3 for $12.Not to worry the fair had a ton of carnival food vendors...corn dogs, funnel cakes, Chinese food, soft serve, icees (including the over 21 versions), BBQ... you name it. Parking:There is no fairgrounds public parking lot. Parking is at the library. From there, a free shuttle drops off at the front admissions gate. They come around often so the wait time is minimal. The shuttle is handicapped accessible and has air conditioning. Admission: General admission is $12 and senior (60 and over ) is $10. They allow in and out fair entry, just get a hand stamp before exiting.”

“Glad we came in winter to miss the crowds. The water is beautiful. We had campsite B and it was perfect. The store is great and has everything you might have forgotten. We will definitely return to Coloma and we've already picked out the spots we want to park in next.”
