983 E Hillsdale Blvd, Foster City“The coaches and staff here are amazing! What I love about the coaches is that they provide feedback during class to help me improve my strength and performance. I highly recommend working out in a class at OTF rather than solo.”
“The FitTRAC team is really outstanding. I appreciate that it’s more than just a really tough workout - they are involved in supporting the community and our FitTRAC family outside the gym. The coaches are great at keeping the workouts challenging but always prepared for alternatives. FitTRAC is a great thing!”
“I love OrangeTheory. Workouts are amazing but more than that.. their front desk people are AMAZING.
They make so much difference in the experience. They genuinely understand the problem, they are kind and go extra mile to provide service. 10/10.. Sometimes I am having such tough time in office but then I see such kind people and it makes my day.
Also.. I love Kalli .. she is the best coach.”
“My first few weeks at Row House Belmont couldn't have gone better. Everyone there is super friendly and helpful. The workout instructors have been excellent without exception. The intensity of the workouts are just at the level that I hoped for, hard but doable. I had a one-on-one session to get started that was worthwhile”

507 S B St, San Mateo“First, a bit of background. Over the past few years, due to the pandemic, I've been holed up at home eating and drinking excessively without exercising, and my weight has skyrocketed. My belly has also puffed up, and since I mostly write code while sitting, I start to have neck & back pain.
Under my girlfriend’s coercion and persuasion, I started looking for personal trainers near the Peninsula. I found that most options were either large gyms offering training courses or personal trainers at regular gyms. However, regular gyms are too crowded for me, and the equipment is unhygienic, so they weren’t an option.
One day, I stumbled upon Wayne’s social media account account and saw that he shared a lot of useful information, including dietary advice. His fitness philosophy resonated with me, and he owns his own studio, which has a good environment and complete equipment. Since it's by appointment only, there are very few people, which fits my needs. This studio is located in downtown San Mateo, and there’s a small parking lot right behind the gym, making it very convenient.
With a try-it-out mindset, I took classes for two months, and the results were remarkably significant. I train every Wednesday and Friday at 8 a.m., with each session lasting an hour. I highly recommend my coach, Mark. He’s a very approachable guy who excels at encouragement-based teaching [doge]. He creates tailored plans for me; I have mobility issues with my left arm and neck, and he focuses on these areas during our sessions, providing me with suggestions for exercises to do at home. Since I’m reluctant to go to a gym, he also teaches me exercises that I can do with just body weight and simple dumbbells or kettlebells. Throughout the course, Mark has been very professional and meticulous, carefully demonstrating each move and correcting my form. He always asks if I have any questions, patiently explaining the muscles targeted by each exercise and its purpose and significance. Overall, after two months, my body fat has significantly decreased, my strength has greatly improved, and my upper body flexibility has also improved quite a bit. I've also learned many specialized exercises that are suitable for me. I highly recommend giving it a try!”

887 Oak Grove Ave A, Menlo Park“Leigh Ann clearly loves to teach, and it shows. She makes subtle corrections to my form which makes each move harder, but we can do hard things!
All the instructors are great and patient and helpful to newbies. There are 10 xformers. The place is spotless.”
“Amazing crossfit gym... Thoughtful workouts -- with tailored warmups. Teachers are friendly and encouraging. Community is supportive and not overly competitive.”
“I am fairly new to Team Rahsaan Fitness and 1:1 workouts with Rahsaan. It took very little time to recognize Rahsaan as one of the most talented, experienced and committed trainers in the area. Rahsaan is focused on helping me achieve my personal fitness goals through custom workout plans which include a holistic approach to fitness. He makes every session challenging yet positive and, dare I say, fun.”
“I completed my 12 week transformation about a month ago and it was excellent! Not only did I lose 24 pounds, my trainer Stephanie has helped me to rehab from several injuries including a bad turned ankle, a wonky shoulder, and a sciatic/hip strain. Her level of care and attention is something I've never felt before and it's special. Michael, Charles, and the other trainers also offer this detailed level of care and everyone's attitude is so encouraging. I am walking taller, with more ease, comfort, and confidence than ever before. Thank you, Stephanie, and thank you, Michael and Training Space!”
“F45 San Mateo offers the best workout programs. As a member for over 5 years I've been consistently impressed with all the workouts they offer and the trainers they employ. If you're considering joining, I highly recommend coming for a complimentary class.”
“I've been going to Fernando for about a year now for personal training.I've had several coaches in weightlifting, bodybuilding, yoga, and crossfit. I've also worked with several physical therapists over the years for injuries both acute and chronic (broken arm, neck pain). My goals have changed over the years. I'm in my 30s and work at a desk most of the day. My primary goal now is health and wellness. I want to be strong and mobile. No coach has contributed to my wellbeing as much as Fernando.I haven't felt this capable and pain-free in years. Many of the things he notices and addresses remind me of sessions with extremely talented physical therapists, and the workouts he develops challenge and engage me in ways workouts often haven't before.I could write a lot here but I'll cut it short there. If you want to hear more, or are a desk worker with a lot of chronic pain, reach out to Fernando. I would be more than happy to personally reiterate these things and more. You are not likely to find another like this dude. 100% well worth it.”

“This place is awesome! The coaches are great and the community is very supporting. The small class structure makes this a perfect place to improve your fitness and have fun while doing it.”
“This Wednesday, I came here expecting a HIIT group class but got a personal training session from Fernando instead since I was the only student. I learned a lot of new exercises and also where my weaknesses are! Fernando was a great trainer and very patient with me. I'd also previously been by for a Zumba class where it was 1:2 teacher:student ratio and also found the instructor very kind and patient with me (a first time Zumba student). I would recommend both classes to newbies!”
“Highly recommend Advanced - I did their 6 week challenge and bootcamp classes which helped improve both my nutrition and strength! The trainers kept me accountable while also helping me modify different movements based on my limitations from old injuries. Thanks Advanced!!”
“I've been training with Jean on and off for past couple of years, as my travel schedule allows. I enjoy the small group training environment, because you form the comradery that helps motivate the whole group. The groups are much smaller than typical gym classes, so that I get plenty of one on one instruction time. This is important for me, because I have recurring right knee pain from an old soccer injury, so I'm always asking for guidance on how to improve my condition and alternate exercises that won't aggravate my knee. Jean is very knowledgeable and I'm happy to say my knee has improved under her guidance. I will continue to enjoy her positive teaching style and my improved health.”

387 Grand Ave, South San Francisco“Jim's Sports Palace started me on a path of physical training that I am still following today. My membership at the Sports Palace began in 1989 and in my two years there I learned the fundamentals of weight training that I am still using to good effect. I moved away from the bay area years ago, but I'll never forget my time at the Sports Palace. Thanks Jim!”

158 W 25th Ave, San Mateo“I have been taking classes from Kelly (HIIT, Boot Camp, Kick Boxing, Spin...etc) for years. I am the type that needs the class to be fun, filled with good music, and throw in a few laughs. Her classes check all the boxes, and the group/community there is a huge bonus. She is great at encouraging you to push yourselves, but the classes allow you the flexibility to dial up or down the intensity based on your comfort level or how you feel that day ;). I highly recommend giving this place a try. I find fitness is important for the health of your mind and body. I leave my classes here feeling like I have achieved both.”

551 Taylor Way unit #5, San Carlos“Hands down the best CrossFit gym I have ever been to besides my home gym here in Chicago. I visited as a walk-in last week and loved HGX so much that I came back for a second class... while on vacation, no less. I had Jazmin and Julie as my coaches during my two visits - they were welcoming and gave me excellent feedback on form. The broader HGX community is also incredibly friendly and diverse in profession, age, race, culture, and CrossFit levels. Thank you HGX for being a highlight of my Bay Area trip.Advice for travelers: Eat all the good food the Bay Area has to offer, and work it off at HGX :)- Matthew, Chicago”
“Clean and very well equipped facility with highly knowledgable personal trainers for all levels of experience and who really aim to help you reach your fitness goals.”
“Can't believe I have never been to the South City location. After a 15-hour plane adventure decided to stop in to fight off jet lag. Front desk staff were super friendly and the studio itself is excellent with a nice layout. Coach Raquel was a total pro, encouraging and friendly. With chargers right there, I might have to stop in more often when I'm in the area. Another great OTF experience!”

4:30AM - 7:30PM
236 Redwood Shores Pkwy, Redwood City“This is my favorite place to work out. It’s super efficient, effective and fun. Each class is approximately 57 minutes of exercise and a few minutes of stretching. You don’t have to plan what to do; just show up and follow the coach’s instructions. The exercises vary every day.
The workout involves a combination of three elements: 1) weight training on the floor, where each person has a bench, set of dumbbells, TRX, resistance bands, and bosu; 2) running or walking on the treadmill; and 3) rowing. If you can’t do treadmill or rower there are also a couple bikes and a stepper.
Visual instructions are displayed on video screens for the floor exercises. Coaches help with modifications if you have orthopedic issues.
People of all different ages and abilities go to this gym. You “compete” with yourself, not with others. You adjust your own weights and treadmill speed and incline depending on how hard you want to push yourself. Coaches provide gentle encouragement and form correction. Over time you will see improvement.
The coaches are all great at this location. If you’re curious, try a workout and there’s absolutely no pressure to join or commit to a longterm membership.”
“SBM is an amazing place. They have the best instructors I’ve ever worked with. Not only are they knowledgeable and experts in their field, you can feel that they are kind and caring. Without hesitation, they tailor the class for you - offering modifications when needed.”

836 Brittan Ave, San Carlos“IMPACT is a great kickboxing gym for all levels. My husband I joined a year ago with different experience levels (I have a black belt in taekwondo, whereas he was completely new to this kind of workout). Both of us have grown over the past year thanks to the instructors at IMPACT. They're all really friendly and knowledgeable! I've been to all kinds of gyms, and none of them match the culture at IMPACT. Everyone feels welcome here.”
“Fantastic free service for the community. Lower pull up bars (for things like Australian pull ups) would be a good addition please consider adding them or expanding this area. Decent size but it can only comfortably accommodate ~8 or fewer people (rare to see that many at the same time)”
