“I’ve recently rented a 10ft U-Haul here 2 weekends in a row, and had a great experience. Staff was very nice and helpful. I checked in and out in person, and the whole process was quick and easy. The only problem I experienced was that I ordered furniture pads for my first rental, and discovered they didn’t carry them at pickup. Other than that, everything went smoothly and there weren’t any surprise charges or price discrepancies. I’ll probably be back the next time I need to move furniture or any bulky items.”

“Whenever I need to rent a truck, I go to Doherty's. Be it a regular moving truck to a lift gate capable one, Doherty's is my go to rent a truck. Easy reservation (just call), smooth process and transaction. In my last 3 business moves, I've used Doherty's every single time. I had an issue with a lift gate once and they were quick to remedy it and even helped me transfer my heavy loads into the new truck. The Isuzu NPR HD truck is my favorite one, it's easy to drive and you have a commanding view on the driver seat (seats 3 people). All in all, I'm always pleased and satisfied with Doherty's.”

“Most of my UHaul experiences involve small businesses trying to make some extra side cash (but not putting any effort or attention into being a topnotch rental yard) and/or employees that seem absolutely miserable. Renting from Windy Flat was the exact opposite of that experience in every way.The vehicles are super clean, and previous damage is actually noted meticulously so you don't have to wonder if you'll be charged for the tiny knick you see on your walkthrough. They have tons of space for their vehicles, so there's no weird issues with driving big trucks through shared parking lots or having the employee ask you to follow them in your car to a second lot to grab your truck (a real past experience btw). And most importantly, the people who run this location are absolutely incredible.We showed up when the office opened and, due to Uhaul's system error, were waiting for a bit before we could check out. Not only was this painless, it was borderline enjoyable, lol. The people helping us were kind, apologetic (despite this being no fault of their own), and just straight up pleasant. When we unexpectedly had to adjust our reservation later on, they helped us eagerly and competently, and even took a moment from absolutely crushing it at their jobs to check how we were doing personally.At this point I am gushing about van rental, so to wrap this up and reiterate: Windy Flat RV Center is a fantastic business of any kind. When compared to the average UHaul dealer, they are simply unparalleled. I would recommend anyone in the East Bay use this location, even if it means a few extra miles on your invoice. You won't regret it.Thank you all so much for everything, you've got a customer for life.”

“I needed a large truck to accommodate items I was taking to sell at the Vintage Fair. I couldn't find any that would allow me to keep it 24hrs at the local UHauls, so I contacted Penske and the only location I could get was in San Pablo. I booked online and got a confirmation number. I checked in the next morning with my confirmation number and it said no longer avail. So I called and was connected to the main office who said to they tried to call to tell me there were no more trucks avail at that location. I had a couple of unrecognizable missed calls on my phone log but no voicemails from them. She gave me the number of the main office in San Leandro and says they could check where the closest location had avail trucks. I was able to book a larger truck and pick up in Richmond. I was told that location closes at 3 pm. I planned on arriving 30 min early, but there was tons of traffic. So I called to make sure they knew I was coming and may not arrive by the time I specified. The phone numbers listed for the various locations route back to m the main office service people and they contact the pick up site. I arrived before closing but later than my designated time. The location appeared to be a storage facility and did not say anything about truck rentals. The door was locked and the sign on the door said will return at 9:30am. I was stressed out thinking I missed them. I immediately called and was once again connected to a Penske rep at the main office. While she looked up my reservation, a woman came out from the side of the building and asked if I needed help. I was so relieved and explained about traffic. Her name was Shelia and she was extremely helpful. She had my truck waiting and she was extremely patient walking me through the paperwork. I had to contact AAA to confirm my account was still active to get the discount. I also had to contact my auto insurance company to determine if my policy covered truck rentals as Shelia said most do not. She was correct, mine only covered rental cars. She explained the plans they had available and added on the appropriate insurance. I was concerned about leaving my car there overnight and she guided me into the parking area to n a spot where the cameras would capture any activity. So although they definitely are not inexpensive vehicles, they are reliable and Ms Shelia is a gem. Thanks much”

“We have rented here multiple times and although we are closer to the Sacramento location we keep coming back. We had previously utilized a 3/4 ton to go camping, and most recently rented another 3/4 ton F250. Both extremely clean and brand new rigs. This previous time was after the passing of my father, and I had to pick up his things in Southern California. Noah Deems was the agent and I felt like he was not only helpful but super understanding and took extra time to even comfort me. Wish I could thank him more, as the Enterprise Survey didn't make it through. It's nice to know there is still good people out there!”

No surprise charges, availability is usually great, esp. for the hard to find cargo vans and ten foot trucks, and the staff is courteous and helpful. The owner has been very accommodating in special instances when we've needed late drop offs or early pick ups, etc.”

“Turning in a 16' truck, I went to customer service and handed over the key after a short wait in line. The young lady went to check the truck then came back and filled out her paperwork. Since I had insurance, they didn't worry about the dent I had made. She told me there was an extra charge for lateness (I arrived 5 minutes late) but it was up to Penske to charge me. They never did. Overall I felt Penske treated me like a valuable customer.”

Our return was also really quick as well. His Uhaul van was extremely clean and well taken care of. Don't be fooled by the outside and rent from your local east Oakland business.”

“Budget was the only moving truck rental company in Vallejo that had trucks available. Apparently Penske is getting their catalytic converters stolen so they don't keep any here! And Uhaul was almost double the price. The process was super smooth and the truck was great. We booked a 12 ft but they only had a 16 ft which wasn't a problem for us (they gave it to us for the 12 ft price), but I would suggest calling ahead to double check if you need the exact car you book. Overall a great experience and I will be sure to book with them again in the future.”
