“We recently purchased an acrylic panel for our living room skylight. The staff at TAP Plastics provided excellent service on the selection of a cost effective material, In addition, the staff helped us size and adjust the large sheet dimensions to obtain a perfect fit. Awesome!”

“I love this bookstore! I came a bit early to my Apple Genius Bar appointment next door so came here to kill time. I was almost late to my appointment because I was so distracted here! As someone who is studying urban planning in grad school, you can only imagine how interested I was in every little book... Everything is clean and organized. The employees are very friendly, and during my visit, they even had a cute Norwich terrier leashed and well-behaved by the cashier counter! I ended up purchasing colored pencils and an adult coloring book that was sized well-- it fits perfectly inside my purse! The prices are a bit higher than Amazon (I checked) but I'm all for supporting local businesses, so it was worth it for me. I'm not from the area but if I were, I'd make this a regular stop!”

“Obsessed with Jim. It would be really easy to take advantage of people who don't know the first thing about niche furniture repair and crafts (ie. almost everyone). Instead of charging a fortune, Jim actually taught me how to repair the paper cord on my used Danish chairs myself and only charged me for the materials used. He is a learned & encouraging teacher - grateful for his expertise and the opportunity to learn a new skill!”

“We have the greatest respect for Ron and US Stamp & Coin Company. We inherited a coin collection, with many different types of coins, which we brought to Ron to liquidate, and we are glad we did! Ron sold the collection within the estimated time frame and for a total amount that exceeded its estimated value. The final accounting was complicated by the fact that one of us retained some coins, and the value of those coins had to be properly accounted for in dividing the proceeds. Ron worked through the accounting issues with us to ensure the final distribution was accurate and fair. Throughout this process, Ron was professional, responsive to our concerns, and honest. It was our good fortune to work with someone of such personal and professional integrity who worked so successfully on our behalf. Thank you, Ron!”

“Fantastic local game store. The owners let my friends and I play dungeons and Dragons there when we were in high school and still visit at times. Plenty of board games and tabletop games are available to purchase. Space to play games as well with cheap prices.”

“Hands down, Gamescape is one of the best board game stores I’ve found! During my travels, I always make it a point to visit board game stores as part of my itinerary and I never fail to grab a game or two. In Gamescape, I left with FOUR (only because of my luggage limitations)The store has a very large collection - they sell well known classics to recent additions. And to top it off, their staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful too. A strong recommendation to anyone within the vicinity who is interested in this hobby!”

“Has a lot of stuff but the manager lady or whatever is rude. She wouldn’t let a 14 yr old buy a 15+ Attack On Titan manga, and when the teenager said she’s bought the same 15+ series before the woman asked her what the employee that sold her the book looked like, putting a lot of pressure on the kid.”

“I had a large coin collection that I inherited that I was ready to sell. Jeff has been a godsend! He has methodically gone through the collection with me over the last couple of months. He has talked to me about the coins and given me an honest assessment of their value. I am so pleased to have been able to find someone that has a vast knowledge of coins and was interested in buying my entire collection and not just cherry pick only the coins that had significant value. I had gone to a couple of other coin establishments before I found Jeff but they did not have the interest in buying my entire collection and were not as knowledgeable. He knows his stuff! Jeff has been great. This is the guy to go to!”

“A rare gem worth the journey - one of the coolest small shops I've had the pleasure of stumbling upon for Japanese vintage toys and anime goods. The selection leans towards 60's/70's to the early 2000's for Japanese toys and fanfare. Lots of cool rare stuff; the hours are tricky and the location is tucked away in a warehouse area but worth it if you are in the area. Highly recommended and will be going again!!”

“Cute and friendly cat! The cashier was nice overall! Had a situation with miscommunication on pricing, and when confronted, the owner was respectful and apologetic. To the business: I appreciate the apology, I see it was an honest mistake. Go support them and meet the friendly cat!”

“It's a modestly sized shop tucked away in the side streets of Chinatown. The charming & homely atmosphere makes browsing their densely packed shelves a genuine and welcoming experience. Small businesses like this are what make SF shine!”

“Bought two posters and shipped one to a buddy and one to me. Quick shipping, came in a sturdy cardboard tube with plastic ends tightly secured and taped. Poster was rolled up in a paper sheet in the tube. Both posters came securely in excellent condition. So stoked with the results! I will definitely be buying more. Thank you!”

“I called the store to see if they had a panel I needed and they did. The employee offered to hold it behind the counter as it was the last one on stock. A few minutes later she called me back to let me know that the panel had a tiny scratch and she was worried that it might affect my art project. I went to the store and the scratch was totally acceptable and would be invisible once I painted over it. I was impressed with her concern and that she took the time to call me back. She was also helpful when I was purchasing some watercolor brushes. I give this store and employee an excellent rating for caring customer service, professionalism and courtesy. Thank you so much!”

“I don't know what that last customer was on about but I think Blick does a good job taking care of me. all the workers there are team players and resourceful and I got a good deal recently on some cans they had on clearance. It's a small spot but it has a real local feel to it. none of that corperate stuff”

“I have been a customer of Dennis King for over 40 years. I have purchased everything from sports cards, non-sports cards, 49er Starter jackets, 70s Warriors warm up jackets, baseball caps, sports programs and schedules. King's Baseball Cards is the one stop shop for the intelligent connoisseur who is also a smart shopper of sports memorabilia. Prices are reasonable and fair. I am certain Dennis has some items at good prices that you will be unable to find elsewhere.”

“Small store in Japantown with a surprisingly excellent selection of curated board games. Be warned: you may find yourself having to walk sideways to get around with even a couple of customers in the store.”

“Clean organized store with a friendly staff fast service on checkout quick staff assistance when needs besides target and the dollar tree it's the only craft store on the island so it is what it is the sewing section is a far cry from what I would want it to be no fabric they have some ribbons and threads sewing needles buttons zippers but and lacking allot it's not wear I would start if I were sewing a garment or something that was not needing more than Minor repairs.”

“Knowledgeable & witty owner, with a dry sense of humor. This shop has been in Berkeley for ages, and has seen Berkeley through a lot. The owner is passionate about what he does, and has written a book on 'fiat paper money', available online. I'm sure he has to deal with all sorts of characters running a coin/stamp shop in this location! I wouldn't go to anyone else for an honest, educated opinion.”
