“I highly recommend Jeff Brody. He is very knowledgeable about coins, fair in pricing and a fun guy to know. My dad kept a coin collection and we weren't sure of it's value or what to do with it. I called Jeff after getting a recommendation from a friend. He answered the phone when I called and invited me to his shop in Orinda. We spent a couple hours going through the collection while listening to an awesome playlist of tunes mostly from the 70s. My mom was so happy with the results - time well spent!”

“Obsessed with Jim. It would be really easy to take advantage of people who don't know the first thing about niche furniture repair and crafts (ie. almost everyone). Instead of charging a fortune, Jim actually taught me how to repair the paper cord on my used Danish chairs myself and only charged me for the materials used. He is a learned & encouraging teacher - grateful for his expertise and the opportunity to learn a new skill!”
“I love this bookstore! I came a bit early to my Apple Genius Bar appointment next door so came here to kill time. I was almost late to my appointment because I was so distracted here! As someone who is studying urban planning in grad school, you can only imagine how interested I was in every little book... Everything is clean and organized. The employees are very friendly, and during my visit, they even had a cute Norwich terrier leashed and well-behaved by the cashier counter! I ended up purchasing colored pencils and an adult coloring book that was sized well-- it fits perfectly inside my purse! The prices are a bit higher than Amazon (I checked) but I'm all for supporting local businesses, so it was worth it for me. I'm not from the area but if I were, I'd make this a regular stop!”

I have purchased everything from sports cards, non-sports cards, 49er Starter jackets, 70s Warriors warm up jackets, baseball caps, sports programs and schedules. King's Baseball Cards is the one stop shop for the intelligent connoisseur who is also a smart shopper of sports memorabilia. Prices are reasonable and fair. I am certain Dennis has some items at good prices that you will be unable to find elsewhere.”
“The person I worked with at the Berkeley location was so incredibly helpful. I've been painting on my own and decided that I should go ahead and enroll in a beginning painting class. I switched from one local community college to another. Unbeknownst to me that also meant I needed to go to the Berkeley Blick location instead of the Oakland one. They took it in stride and looked up the materials that I needed. I brought in what I'd gotten for the other class at the other college. I returned a couple of things, checked on what I had, and bought the things that I didn't have. The person helping me took a lot of time, and I really appreciated it. It makes me more secure to know I have what I need in my bag. Now all I need to worry about is the assignments. Thanks for the help!”

“Picking up additions to the Easter Baskets we are building for the little kids. My list: Jumbo eggs Grass Jumbo crayons Baskets Of course anything else adorable to add to the fun. I actually got everything on the list... except for the baskets. They had some but not as large as I wanted. Easter items are on sale for 50% off so that made this visit even better. I also appreciate that the store brands are of good quality. When the Crayola brand was out of stock of the crayons I was seeking, the store brand was readily available. NICE. On my trips to the chain store I noticed there's hardly anyone on the floor to ask questions or get assistance with products. I usually have to go to the register and ask questions. I also noticed the location in Emeryville has self checkout. Ugh... I like to see and talk to people. Lol”
“Knowledgeable & witty owner, with a dry sense of humor. This shop has been in Berkeley for ages, and has seen Berkeley through a lot. The owner is passionate about what he does, and has written a book on 'fiat paper money', available online. I'm sure he has to deal with all sorts of characters running a coin/stamp shop in this location! I wouldn't go to anyone else for an honest, educated opinion.”
