“I stumbled upon this shop while walking around Albany and was immediately drawn in by the Tagalog sign out front. The owner, Dom, greeted us warmly and invited us inside—even though it was past closing—which already says so much about the spirit of this place.

The moment I stepped in, I felt a sense of connection and calm. The space feels like a sanctuary—thoughtfully arranged, full of warmth, and deeply welcoming—with traces of Dom’s anitos and pamilya. The plant selection is incredible, with rare varieties, pet-friendly sections, and beautifully curated displays. The repotting space shows a commitment and mindfulness towards the customer and living plant being. (I only wish I could bring some of them back to Tucson!) Dom’s bunnies were the sweetest surprise, too.

Most of all, Dom herself makes the shop what it is. Her kindness and heart are felt in every corner. This is more than a plant shop—it’s a space of care, community, and joy.

If you’re in Albany, don’t miss it. Truly a gem.”

“I ordered for a friend’s birthday today; I’m not local so I emailed and called a few times and asked for fall colors and gave some inspiration pictures. I am very happy and they turned out perfect. Would definitely order from them again!”

“We "toured" all the refill stores around the east bay, and this is the one we've settled on as our favorite. The owner is almost always there and she is very knowledgable and helpful about all the products she carries. I'm hesitant to spread the word about the bulk Seka olive oil she carries lest there's a run on it and she has trouble keeping it in stock, but this olive oil is GREAT and at $0.60/ounce is a great deal. (You can bring your own bottle, or she has both new bottles for sale AND used bottles that she has cleaned that you can have for free). Lots of cleaning products in bulk of course, along with all sorts of products for cleaning, cooking and personal hygiene. Sweet little shop worth visiting AND adjacent to so many great spots -- Cheeseboard, Masse's and Epicurious Garden among them!”

“The Best neighborhood nursery hands down. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They ask how's your garden coming along? And will help you transport items to your car. I been going for the last 5 years or so. You can get all your garden needs taken care of here.”

“Westbrae Nursery is a dream come true! I was immediately amazed by the diverse selection and top-notch quality of their plants, indoor and outdoor alike. But what really sets this nursery apart is the EXQUISITE customer service. The young woman working at the counter was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. My purchases have thrived, a testament to her amazing advice and feedback. I highly suggest consulting her as my garden has never looked better.”

“Prices are absurd but they do have an incredible collection of cacti. If you are looking for a very specific type and don’t mind paying a high price tag for it, then this is the best place for you. Oh and the also have tortoises”

“Even if you're not planning to buy any plants or soil products, you should check out Berkeley Horticultural Nursery anyways.

Huge offerings of pretty much every type of plant out there, including a massive succulent and cactus section.

About 30+ types of maple trees, endless varietals of fruits and vegetables, decorative aquatic plants, ground cover, you name it.

Prices are not super cheap, but they're also not outrageous, and some stuff is rather competitive.

Don't forget to check out all the carnivorous plants!”

“My wife and I have been coming by since the '80s. We never lived locally, but between the Gardener and Ocean View Dinner many of our let's get away days were made, Heck our kids grew up coming here and still do. We miss the spot that used to be out in the country dearly.”

“Very nice lady(Alex is her name) and very informative and knowledgeable about her plants.?She was stern about some of her rules of not walking past the beige trashcan but it is her house and her business so keep that in mind hahaShe has a very good variety of cool plants and very very good prices but also keep in mind her hours of operation.I got several cuttings from her larger mother plants of euphoria and some bridgesii and haworthia. She goes out of her way to make sure everything is properly labeled with the scientific name which was awesome. She was wearing a mask the entire time I was there and was overall a good experience to me.Not sure of the negative reviews but they mostly seemed around people expecting this to be a large nursery which it's not, it's her house which I personally find cool to see people like her running a small business from.Besides the street parking it's a cool stop that anyone who likes cacti and succulents should check out. ?”
