“Unassuming from the outside, totally unpretentious inside. This is an actual liquor store, where you go to buy hard liquor, not snacks.Ledger’s has the most interesting and well-curated selection of them of any store I know in the Berkeley area. The building size is a limitation and they don’t have everything, but it’s the most fun place to browse.I have an unfortunate predilection for the pricey stuff, but they’re as reasonable as anywhere.”

“Beautiful and very organized store for everything Spanish ( and Portuguese). From paella pan, cazuelas, and tajines to Spanish. Portuguese wine and vermouth. From Spanish spices, sweets to jamón iberico, they have them all. Interested in learning about Spanish Portuguese wines? They have Spanish wine club! Don’t forget to check out their website, there are a lot of useful information.”

“Good food for good prices. I got the medium sweet and spicy fried chicken with fries. The chicken was pretty good but the fries were especially good (something about the texture hits different). The location is clean and has a nice ”

“Happy to see that the tastings have returned after a long stall since the pandemic. Went today for a tasting of gin and bourbon that was set up in the back area of the liquor store. Cask is a boutique liquor store with all kinds of specialty bottles for you to buy, including all of the usual alcoholic suspects, bitters, nips, refrigerated, cans, wines, nonalcoholic drinks, and some bar items. Wooden floors and tasteful shelves, you may feel like you are in a barrel. Dog friendly in the liquor store and the taproom bar, which have separate hours and Yelp listings. There is a unisex restroom by the bar. They have a gift wrapping station behind the checkout.”

“Wonderful wine shop with a HUGE selection of reasonably priced wines, as well as a few $$$. The proprietor and staff are knowledgeable and helpful. I ducked in to grab a bottle and asked for a French in the $30-50 range was was pleasantly surprised when they recommended a $32 bottle instead of a $48 bottle. Way to make a sale and get a fan for life! They also do tastings, at least on the Friday I was there. I can't wait to go back and explore their selection more.”

“This has been my go to for about a year now and it's the best wine shop in the Oakland/Berkeley area. The selection is broad and unique, primarily independent wines from around the world. The staff is super educated on the wines and know just when to offer assistance and when to let you explore on your own. Love this place and never disappointed!”

“North Berkeley Imports set the bar for selection and service. They offer a list of incredibly high quality, French and Italian grower-producer wines, which I think is among the best in the business. Their selection of small producer burgundy I find to be extraordinary. This will be no surprise to those of you who do business with them, but their staff of account managers and sales people are just wonderful to work with. Brain, who manages my account, is always so gracious and helpful, he's introduced me to countless wines I would never have discovered without his help. They ship out of state. I regularly buy from NJ and have never had a serious issue. The wine arrives well packaged every time. Shipping is typically free @ 6+ bottles.”

“Have you ever wished your local Bodega had more craft beer and organic sundries? This quaint little corner store is bountifully stoked to the brim with super good food. Although the after-school rush can get a little busy, the store is otherwise really easy to navigate, and you grab any quick thing you might need and avoid the long lines at Berkeley bowl. The staff are incredibly friendly and have an insider's knowledge on most of the foods they carry, often suggesting the absolute perfect accoutrement to any purchase. Parking is typically available. Also, don't pass on their soup or sandwiches... they always hit the spot.”

“The tap room wasn't open, so we bought a couple of bottled drinks to have at home. Scotch lovers--they have over 100 different scotches in store. They also have craft beers. I liked how they used alcohol bottles to make ceiling light fixtures, and they were backed by barrels staves woven together. I also liked how they made recipe displays showing ingredients for specific cocktails.”

“Excellent selection of French and Italian wines at many price levels. Many at the proper age to drink. Be cognizant in your inquiries with the staff that some will definitely need some time to age. This is a treasured local wine oasis! Cheers!”

“Excellent service every time, and I mean from the first time I went there. They've been helpful and extremely courteous, not just to me, but to the other customers (even the ones that seem totally irrational ?).”

“So a lot of these pictures are of the bar across the street from this place. White House liquor is the storefront that is also an authorized Krispy krunchy chicken. They usually sell out of the chicken by 6pm and the rest isn't fresh anymore after 8 forsure. They sell lottery scratches and blunts and backwoods if your in need and don't want to buy like 20 at a time”

“This was never a haunt for me because I no longer live in the area. Three of the most miserable years of my life. So much for the joys of Berkeley Hills living! Anyhow, I came by here to get some stuff for the holiday, Cheeseboard had a huge line and after surgery, I wasn't going to wait. I'm an Andronicos girl, but this place was closer to the Cheeseboard and I came here. It wasn't as busy as I expected. It was nice and Christmassy. I found what I wanted right away. It's a clean store and I was confident that if I'd gone into the bathroom, that it would be clean, unlike the bathroom in El Cerrito. The only issue is that I was looking for some Mexican corn chips and the El Cerrito Store has them. For some reason, they don't have them here. Probably, not a lot of Mexican people. But as a non-Mexican woman, who likes some of their chips (which says a lot because I don't eat chips from other countries - England/France ...no thanks). But they lose a star for having plenty of food for fancy folks but nothing really for those of us with less fancy tastes in chips.I had a former friend from high school who used to work there and I remember running into her once. I was hoping that I'd run into her. No such luck. Last time I saw her was over 20 years ago and when I've come in, I've stopped asking for her.I'm not in the area much, but if I need to get something and don't want to traverse the aisles of Andronicos, I will definitely stop in for something.”
