We looked at couches at a lot of stores. Hans was the best person to work with. He had so many options and with our specific measurements was able to alter various couches to fit our needs. An exceptional number of material selections made it fun to try to find the perfect choice. He had lots of suggestions and steered us very well. The couch came within a couple weeks and his crew did a great job with the delivery! Highly recommend this establishment.

We needed a couch to fit our quirky space. We went to this store and spoke with Hans, the owner, who was friendly and accommodating...at first. We ordered a couch eleven weeks ago. It was initially delivered a week after he said it would be ready...okay, no big deal. On delivery day, it didn't arrive when he said it would...a few phone calls and some patience, and it arrived. Okay, again, no big deal. It arrived and the cushions were wrong - not what we had ordered and paid for. This is where the real fun began. The delivery guys called Hans to report that the cushions were wrong; I spoke with him and he said he'd fix it. Great! Days go by, and we hear nothing. I call him; he hasn't ordered the correct cushions, and now says he needs to come measure for them. Okay. A few days later he comes, measures in what looks like a haphazard way, asks if we're *sure* we want the cushions we agreed on and paid for, acts put out that we still do, and finally assures us that the new cushions will arrive within a week. Two new cushions arrive two weeks later, after we call multiple times to follow up: one is *mostly* right but he got the measurement wrong by a couple of inches, which is noticeable...the other cushion is way off, not even close. Again, we hear nothing from Hans about how he's going to make this right. Again, we have to call multiple times to see what's happening. In all of these interactions, Hans acts as though it's not his problem to make it right and deliver the couch we ordered and paid for many weeks ago. How do you run a business this way? He eventually assures us that the final cushion will arrive within two weeks. Two and a half weeks go by with no call, no news. We call and he says it will *definitely* be here within another week, and he promises he'll call us to follow up. Again, he misses his deadline, and again - he does not call to let us know what's happening. We call *again* and he says it will be another week. When we express our frustration, he says that we have *a* couch, so we shouldn't be frustrated. !!! We STILL don't have the couch that we bought ELEVEN weeks ago. I would never, ever recommend this business to anyone unless they REALLY love the experience of eternal frustration.

Hans is great: knowledgeable and kind. He was very patient to answer all my questions and helped me to design the couch I wanted. The customized couch came out to be everything I wanted and more! Great price and great delivery. I'm so happy to have a couch that I can have for life.

This will be the first in a series (well, at least two) reviews based on our ongoing experience with our new sectional couch purchased from Alpha Design Custom Furniture in March 2023.Some friends purchased a sectional here about a year so ago and raved about the process and the sectional, so we decided to give it a try. We needed a smallish sectional and were having a hard time finding something at the stores we typically think of (West Elm, Room & Board, etc.) in our price range that would fit.We went on a very rainy Saturday and had the owner, Hans, all to ourselves for over an hour and a half while he patiently walked us through various options. We ended up ordering a sectional on the spot, a rare (insofar as it felt a bit impulsive) move for us. We did not need to customize the size as there was a sectional that measured exactly the length we wanted, but we did customize the cushions, and of course picked out a fabric. We were expecting it would take weeks (possibly a few months) for the sectional arrive, but just six days later, Hans called and said the sectional was being delivered to his store and for us to contact him to arrange delivery.The sectional will be delivered today.So this is where Part I ends. The five-star review is based on how helpful Hans was in the store, and how easy this whole process has been. The speed with which the sectional was ready seems almost too good to be true. But the very strong reviews here on Yelp, along with our friends continued satisfaction with their sectional leads us to believe that we will continue to be very happy with our purchase. But I will update this review, perhaps in six months or a year once we have had a chance to "live in" the sectional for a while with how it is wearing (and feeling).

Love our chaise lounge chair from Alpha! We had a very specific request: no arms, custom length, and custom width, that needed to fit a specific corner of our apartment, and we got exactly what we wanted here! Hans helped walk us through multiple options while also helping us pick the best price for what we were looking for. For example, making sofas shorter is cheaper than making them longer, etc. Hans was very personable and easy to talk to. Not pushy at all and let us browse or helped us as needed. It was a wonderful buying experience. We had gone in a few times before we were ready to purchase, and it was less expensive than I thought it would be for custom furniture! Honestly it's about the same price as a regular furniture store, but better because you can make custom measurements! The chaise was delivered within 2 weeks too, so we didn't have to wait long at all! Especially during a time when a lot of other furniture stores were back ordered. I'll definitely come back next time I want to get a sofa! We use our chaise lounge (2 adults and 1 dog) everyday and probably spend the majority of our leisure time there and it remains in great condition and very comfortable!

This review is long, long overdue!We originally purchased our sofa back in 2016, with custom dimensions, to fit a specific spot in our home. Hans was super helpful, willing to work with us to get a final product we loved and with a price comparable to that of a standard sofa from a corporate retailer. Fast forward 6.5 years, multiple young children and a pandemic later - our sofa had seen quite a bit of wear and tear, and I reached out to Hans to see if we could get the missing buttons replaced on our tufted cushions. Knowing we had purchased this sofa from him originally, he was able to pull up our receipt and had all the missing buttons fixed/replaced for us, free of charge. He truly went above and beyond to make the whole experience relatively seamless and hassle-free. I would 100% recommend getting a custom sofa here - you are getting a wonderful product, for a reasonable price, supporting a local business, and getting amazing customer service!

My husband and I were searching for a new sofa in East Bay after the frame of our IKEA sofa bed broke in just four years. It was so expensive everywhere we looked and they didn't fit into our small living room. I was skeptical first when my husband suggested ordering a customized one. I am really glad that we stopped by Alpha. Hans was very helpful in his consultation. We made a decision on the spot and the sofa was made in good quality as we wanted. It was delivered rather quickly. The movers were professional and efficient. They even took away our broken sofa. The cost was no more expensive than what we found in the market. Hans gave us two extra pieces of fabric as cover to protect our sofa from our dog. I am glad we could support local business. I highly recommend this store.

I love the couch I got! The selection is excellent, the couches are very customizable (from the fill to the depth to the fabric to the size). I find the prices very reasonable for the quality, and the couches shipped really quickly. Hans was also very kind and helpful and really lovely to work with. All in all, I had a great experience, and I'm very happy with our new couch.

When I looked online and priced sectional sofas at major retailers I had serious sticker shock. I found Alpha online thanks to yelp reviews and I have to say we were 100% satisfied. Hans walked us through the process of selecting fabric and size and pillow style and cushion filler. It is truly customized furniture. And it's made in the US and only took about four weeks to be delivered. The delivery team came exactly on time and was incredibly friendly, professional, and persistent- they had to remove a leg of the sofa and to get it in my door. I would refer anyone here and would happily order from them again.

Hans helped us design a totally gorgeous and super functional sofa. I asked for a bunch of changes to the floor model, so it ended up being truly customized. Hans worked directly with the manufacturer to make sure it was done correctly. It is beautiful and really well built. The whole family is so happy.

I visited many sofa stores when looking for a sofa, and Hans and his store were the best. He was patient and very helpful in working with me to figure out exactly the sofa I wanted with different customizations. The sofa arrived on time and it's beautiful. I've been very happy and could not recommend Hans more!
