“This is my favorite Trader Joe's. I like tge way the store is played out, I like the workers, love the location - prices are the same at all TJ's, however, next door is Safeway, and we all know how high they can be.
My only complaint is they keep stop providing some products that I just loved - like now they only provide their frozen pie crust during the Oct - Jan season. Anyone that bakes, bakes all year round ?”
“Nice little shop. I was impressed with the wide variety of imported beverages- so many intriguing flavors! I grabbed some Cadbiry Twirls, and an absolutely fantastic Nestle Baklava bar that was sumptuous. Not overly sweet and it had beautiful crunch from the phyllo and chopped pistachios. I'm scheming a return for some of the halal butcher counter offerings and some of the middle eastern breads on offer.”

1420 Encinal Ave, Alameda“When you need a fresh fruits and veggie pick-up during the middle of the week and don’t want to deal with the hassle of going all the way to Safeway this place is great especially if you’re within walking distance. They don’t jack up the prices here either the prices you get here for fruits and veggies is the same as Safeway.”
“Love hanging out here. It's great for breakfast and lunch. Loads of people watching food and just an all-around pleasant vibe. The herbal and supplements department is top-notch, and there's so many wonderful nitch stores. Also has parking a big plus.”
“This little market with compact aisles has a lot. Great local food shop with some limited non food items. Staff at times hard to find, but kind and quick to help. Suprised at how much they had available and such good quality.”
“Nice local market, not as large as others but always plenty of fresh fruit & veggie options. As well as other local fare such as hummus, bakery delights, bread, eggs, jam, spices, tamales, etc. The biggest concern would be the extremely limited parking situation. They basically close off a neighborhood street to host this market, so always shady & cool.”
“Excellent spot for fresh fruit and veg. Much better quality here than at the chain grocers. Bulk section is priced decently. Their pantry and fridge items are spendy, but the convenience is great when I don’t want to hit multiple stores to make up a meal.”
“Had so so much definitely has everything I need and so much I don't almost worse then going to tarjay I could easily drop 100 on things I don't need and have wanted to try really friendly cashier's stopped without being irritated to check price on things love this place everyone including customers were happy so surreal”
7AM - 9:30PM
500 Lincoln Ave, Alameda“Great place!! I've shopped here for 15 years. Always great customer service. The family knows me well. They're wonderful. Back when I was in middle school, I'd try to get here every morning before school to avoid having to eat the school lunch.”
“My favorite local grocery store because you’ll always find sales and deals and you don’t have to mess around with apps/digital coupons. Everything is laid out fairly logically with good selection. Staff are always helpful and even friendly.”
“My friend is constantly looking for some Eastern European food. She also lives in MN and has been craving to get back to this place which we went to yesterday. My god, the potato pie here made by someone that works here is just astounding. You can get in the market in the frozen food section. We had some beef sausages and found some plum wine that looks amazing although she said it might taste a bit like ether. She's going to share some with her brothers when she sees them in a couple of days. I'll be back when out of town friends come to visit to spoil them with homemade treats.”
“Awesome way the store is design but there is a refrigerator in the back not being used and I think it be should be with the other and unless if it's not working or broken then that make more since but I think the refrigerator that not being used should be use like all the other and there should be price tags on everything there is in the store and one last thing that store should take ebt cuz every store takes it so this store should take it to”
“The staff is very warm and friendly, and just about all your bases are covered there, for a neighborhood market. Good liquors, beers, a few good wines in the back (OZV Zin was a nice surprise) and I saw dog food and cat food too.”
“They have an INCREDIBLE selection of craft beer selection and they let you buy singles! They are next door to "Craft Beer and Wine" which is how I found this place. I love Craft but they have crappy hours whereas Everest is pretty much always open when I go. I've gotten Heretic Evil 3 here before which is a pretty hard to get seasonal IPA. Street parking only but they aren't on a particularly busy section so it's always good.”
“They have a great variety of products ... I love going here because I usually find everything I'm looking for, without the crowd ...Yes, because it's a mom/pop store, I pay a lil bit more but it's worth the convenience of great parking, no crowd ... and at the end of it all, I only paid $3 to $5 more then going to a big store ...”
“The egg sandwiches were perfect and the customer service was very good no matter if they were having fun at their job or making coffee and multitasking. They have very good customer service and I'm going to be there every Monday from now on. I'm disappointed that I haven't discovered this place until now.”
8AM - 9:30PM
2172 Encinal Ave, Alameda“I always stop by for some soda. They carry Mexican glass bottled sprite and coke which taste so much better than the American coke and that's why I like going here.”
“Great place, has a big variety of stuff for a tiny corner store. Wonderfully friendly owner and his son who are very accommodating and caring. I go out of my way to come here often even though I have a closer corner store to me.”
“I love this grocery store. They have a huge selection of items. Are they the most affordable grocery store? No. But they have everything you can want and they have a security guard at the door. Some people find that to be comforting (others may find it to be off-putting). If you want a grocery store with plenty of variety, I recommend this one.”
“Have to say , tonight was my 1st time coming here . I have lived on this island for 7 years and never stepped foot ( it is kind of hidden) Whomever was behind the counter tonight , is the reason I will return , time & time again . Fantastic and polite service , extremely welcoming , & extremely rare these days”
“FAVORITE SAFEWAY EVER!!!! super helpful customer service and clean store!! All workers are really kind and welcoming!! Thanks Mona, Ruthie, Bill, and Celeste!!! My all-time favorite grocery shopping destination!! Happy holidays and happy new year!!! Thanks for your commitment to the community!!! With love and appreciation!!!”
7AM - 10PM
2700 5th St, Alameda“Living in the Bay Area, I think I prefer this Target over any anywhere else. For the most part, it's organized, and I'm able to find more employees if I need help. I like the selection, and they categorize all their items. I also feel like that I can find what I want. I had been going to the Emeryville location, but I like how not a lot of things are on the floor or missing from packaging.”
6AM - 12AM
867 Island Dr, Alameda“The best Safeway I've ever been to. Best customer service. Hard workers. There to help. Clean ambiance. The very best. And so inclusive, thank you for promoting lunar new year in a country that overlooks the Asian American crisis. Thank you for always providing superior service. I love shopping at Safeway on Island Drive in Alameda, CA. It might not be the largest supermarket but it is dependable. Small but mighty. "Small" depends on who's comparing size. Hands down, my favorite Safeway ever!!!!”
“I usually come in here when I'm at Lincoln Park across the street. This is a decent sized market, good selection of drinks and snacks. Obviously it's located on High Street not too far from the High Street Bridge, and the 'market' part has a decent selection also. Limited parking as High street is usually kind of busy depending on the time of day, nice option for the area!!”
“I pretty much love this Safeway! It is always well stocked and they have very friendly staff! Plus the parking lot is Farley big so there's always parking! Starbucks location inside of this store that's never bush and also has very friendly staff! Favorite Safeway hands down!”
“This is my preferred Safeway in alameda. The staff is friendly and nice. Store is clean. The shelves are neat and tidy. Whenever I come here, most of the items I'm looking for are usually in stock. I feel like it's not as crowded compared to the Safeway at south shore. The only thing I find annoying now is the extra security measures. I understand the need to combat retail thefts but I find the alarm when you try to exit without buying anything annoying. I was only planning on buying 5-6 items so I got a basket but when I saw they had soda on sale, I wanted to stock up so I needed to get a cart from outside. It just feels like once I'm inside this Safeway, I feel trapped unless I buy something. One really good deal I saw this week was on the 2 liter Signature Select soda (Safeway brand soda) on sale for $0.69. I don't think people knew about this deal unless they were in the store since it wasn't even listed in the ad. With inflation, this price is almost unheard of nowadays. For comparison, the 2 liter coca cola was on sale for $3. It's crazy to see how much soda cost now.”
5AM - 12AM
2600 5th St, Alameda“Only real downside of the store is that one of the doors in is pretty much permenantly not open & the deli section doesn't have as many options as other safeways, generally otherwise is fine”
1:45 - 8PM 9AM - 1PM
2227 S Shore Center, Alameda“A big, clean, well organized Safeway in Alameda!!The prices in Safeway have gone up, so download the App for the best deals, the just for you savings are good. In this store, I have always found what I'm looking for rather easily. Also, the fruit in this store seems to be a little fresher than other stores, in my opinion. Or maybe I just come once they have restocked.Located in the Alameda South Shore Shopping Center, there's plenty of parking here, and they also have the Safeway gas station available. One of the few Safeways I actually like shopping in!!”
“I have been here a few times mostly for a coffee and pastry. I have had their babka pastry, chocolate croissant and the yummy bacon and cheese pastry.
What inspired me to write this review though is the service I received today. I called the store to ask if they had forbidden rice. The owner went and looked for me and they had it. But it gets better. As I was there I realized I needed some mirin for a dinner I was to prepare tonight. He said he didn’t have any in the shelves. Then he said he could help me anyway. He went to the back at the sandwich service counter and had a big bottle of it for the food he prepares. He asked me how much I needed and handed me a paper bowl of mirin!! He, the owner, went out of his way like that was awesome. I will continue to patronize this market. Yay for local neighborhood businesses! ??”
