Spirit Halloween Costumes Now Available on Uber Eats

Just in time for the spookiest season of the year, Uber and Spirit Halloween are teaming up to make getting your last-minute costumes easier. The ridesharing and delivery giant announced that it will now deliver costumes, makeup, and decorations from Spirit Halloween stores across the U.S. and Canada.

With over 1,500 locations nationwide, Spirit Halloween is the largest specialty Halloween retailer in North America. Now, customers can order their ghost and goblin gear for the same price as in-store, without having to visit one of the pop-up shops that pop-up in vacant storefronts every fall.

"The holiday season officially kicks off this time of year, and households across the country are looking to on-demand delivery to get what's needed — now," said Beryl Sanders, director of U.S. grocery and retail partnerships at Uber.

The partnership reflects a growing trend of retailers expanding their delivery options to get products to customers faster. Uber has existing on-demand delivery deals with Big Lots, Lowe's, Michael's and Party City, while competitors like Instacart and DoorDash have inked similar agreements with major retailers. The company has also partnered with Serve Robotics to deploy sidewalk delivery robots in Los Angeles, with plans to expand to 2,000 robots nationwide. Additionally, Uber has teamed up with Coco, another robotics company, to launch emissions-free sidewalk delivery robots in LA.

However, a December Forrester report suggests that same-day delivery might not be a top priority for consumers. While 75% of U.S. online shoppers cited free shipping as the most important factor, only 20% said same-day or next-day delivery was a key consideration in choosing where to shop.

Still, with Halloween spending expected to reach $11.6 billion this year according to the National Retail Federation, the Uber-Spirit partnership could be a treat for busy shoppers.
