I arrived at the airport to pick up a car on 08/25 around 3:30pm. The first part of the process was fine. Awhite woman with tattoos waited on me. She gave me the key to the truck she told me she didn't have the space number, I should just press the alarm, button on the key to find the car. Of course I couldn't find the car. I had to go back inside to ask her to give me a car that has a space number. Why on earth did she think it was okay to do that.

The Chevy Equinox we were offered in Huntsville was a no-cost SUV upgrade to the sedan we requested because no sedan was available at 10pm that night after flying across the country. This SUV was not read for rent, but we elected to use it anyway. It was a relatively new vehicle with about 12,000 miles. However, there was no window washer fluid in the tank. There was a big warning message on the dashboard screen saying that the tank was empty. This obscured part of the dashboard information, including the odometer. We found no owner's manual in the glovebox with which to figure out how to remove that message. We had to buy a gallon of window washer fluid and add it ourselves to get that message off the screen. Also, there was no spare tire, nor any tools to change a flat tire. Fortunately, we had no other issues with the vehicle.

When I first arrived I was directed by a sign at the Budget desk to see an Avis agent. The Avis agent proceeded to give me keys to a Jeep. When I made my way to the parking lot to find my vehicle, I walked the lot twice and was unable to locate the vehicle. A Lot Attendant saw that I was "lost" and offered to help me find the car. She walked the lot and she too was not able to locate the vehicle. When I walked back to the rental desk, the Avis rep gave me another vehicle and assured me it would be on the lot. I located my new vehicle and loaded my luggage and started off to my hotel. As I started on the highway, the steering wheel began shaking as if the vehicle needed alignment or the rotors needed to be turned. Either way, it needed maintenance. I arrived at my hotel and settled in for the night. The next morning upon getting in the vehicle, I realized the vehicle was absolutely filthy. The windows were dirty, the seats were all stained and the console and dash looked like it had not been cleaned in months. There was also a door missing from a compartment on the dash and the passenger's side interior door panel had dried blood or soda stains all over near the handle to open the door. I rented an SUV because I would be taking my client out for dinner and was not going to ask them to ride with me in this trash can. I went back to the airport to switch out my vehicle and after standing in a long and slow line, I explained to the Avis rep my predicament and she simply stated, "ok, I'll swap it out for you." As I waited in line for her to do the swap, she comes back and hands me keys and says, "your vehicle is in space A3," and simply walked away. I walked away to A3 only to find she had "swapped" me out with a Mustang. Now, I ask you, why would you "swap" a customer out of an SUV into a Mustang? Now I had no room for my clients for dinner. Not to mention, this vehicle was just as dirty and filthy as the previous vehicle. I was not about to stand in that long line again just to catch attitude and do another swap. Horrible experience! Never again!

My reservation was for 8:30am. I was at the Avis counter (because the Budget counter wasn’t staffed) by 8:25am. I was told my vehicle wasn’t ready & it would be 40 minutes. 40 minutes later it still wasn’t ready. I didn’t make this reservation the day before, I made it almost 2 weeks before. It took another 5 to 10 minutes for it to be ready. The manager wasn’t available to speak to me when I asked for them, BUT I should not have had to ask because they should have been apologizing and explaining why my contract time was not being honored during that 40 minute wait. I still don’t know why there was a delay. This almost hour delay made my plans for the day rushed, late, and missed.

Budget at the HSV airport is the BEST check-in, check-out, and return process I've ever experienced!! The agencies are all conveniently located on the ground floor directly across the street from the garage. You can get in and out of the airport without a hassle and you don't have to wait on a bus to transport you to a remote location. Upon return, you simply park your car, log your mileage, gas, drop your keys in a dropbox and go!

Horrible experience. Prepaid the rental for convenience. Was not made clear that if my plans changed and had to return early, I could not get a refund. Paid for the car for a week, plans changed, retuned after two days. Had to pay over $500 more than if I had just paid at the end. Called the customer service number - said there was nothing they could do but I could talk to the agent in person. When I dropped off in person they said to call the 800 number. Insane and an absolute scam. Then they sent me a survey asking about my experience where I said I felt ripped off and then at the end of that survey asked me if I wanted to leave this Google review. I can’t imagine why they want me to tell the world about what a horrible experience I had but here you go.

If I could give it zero stars, I would. I booked a one way rental to catch a business flight out of Nashville. When I arrived, they had no cars. the woman said that no cars were Returned and that I would be number 9 on the waitlist. I asked her why they didn't call booking customers this morning so they could make other arrangements and she just looked at me. She passed me the list. I needed to get to Nashville as my flight was departing in 3 hours. She wasn't helpful. Instead of my 78 dollar rental..I ended up paying 450 for a same day flight change out of Huntsville. Very terrible business and service. Will never use them..

Horrible, horrible horrible! The money that I saved I should have went on and spent if I wanted a decent & suitable vehicle! Not only were there bleach stains in the expedition that was rented, but the leather was torn as well. The truck drove like it needed a tuneup the entire time, then when I went to return it there was no one there so I had to figure it out for myself how to make sure it was returned properly. In addition to that, for less than half a gallon of gas they charged me $40! I will never use budget again. Lesson learned! Trying to save money you’ll end up spending more in the end.

Went to pick up a reservation for 7AM on 17Jun2023 (Saturday). They open at 7AM, not 8AM. A sign at the booth inside the terminal says proceed to the outside booth. No one is there but a sign in the window says proceed to the inside booth. After 15 mins outside an attendant shows up and says they don't have keys to get in either booth. Only her and the manager is working and they've been on the job for a month. After an hour on the phone with customer service and many unanswered calls to branch/city managers, a Hertz agent opens the door to the inside booth and lets the Avis/Budget agent in. Tiffany (budget agent) checks me in, but my car is not ready so I wait another 45 mins. I finally receive my rental after nearly 2 hrs and it's poorly maintained/not clean. I kept it because I was 2 hours late, but likely will not rent from Budget/Avis HSV again. They have serious management and customer service issues. Additionally, while waiting in the garage, the budget/avis staff (incl the manager) receiving returns were racing the cars through the garage in an extremely dangerous and unsafe manner.

After a canceled flight and hours in the Atlanta airport. I had to drive to Huntsville, Al. When I thought my troubles couldn't get workers. Once arriving to Huntsville, I was told by one responitative that I had to call Customer Service. After 30 mins on the phone, Bradley JacquesHuntsville Alt manager. Asked if I needed any help, I explained the situation and he was able to assist without any trouble or complaint. Bradley is the only reason I will be a returning customer for Budget.

Showed up at Huntsville airport 7am on a sunday. Rental reservation booked and paid for over a month ago. N no clerk at check in desk. Was told by rental agents that they did not open until. No big deal, left and ran an errand. Came back a little after 8. One person in line and still no clerk. We waited and waited, more people joined the line. It was 9. Still no one. Every one around me is on the phone calling HERTZ/budget to no avail. Long story short, I ended up renting a another vehicle from another agency and when I left at almost noon there was still a closed counter at the budget desk. Put me half a day behind on a long trip. Extremely disappointing experience. Will probably never rent through budget again.

Incompetent employees. Charged my card multiple times not knowing how to extend rentals. If you’re military, they’ll overcharge your gtc. Been a week since my rental closed and overcharged by $3k. No accountability and everything falls on the customer. Terrible.

Although the car was acceptable, I want to make sure others know what I didn't. When picking up from Huntsville International Airport, you have to go into the airport to be able to actually rent the car. There is an office outside in the garage, but nobody is working from there. After going in to get the keys, I was told that I would have to leave my own car in the parking lot and pay for parking. Not to mention walk a long way back to the rental car area. When I returned the car, I was asked about gas and I let him know that I had paid for them to refill it. He said, "I hope it's on empty." I told him that it wasn't and had 217 miles left on it. He said, "They will charge you the amount for a full tank anyway. I wish they (desk employees) would tell people that."By the time I paid for everything extra and the major inconvenience, I could have gone with another rental company as cheap and had the convenience of walking in the door with a place to leave my car.

Agent that helped me while picking up the car was rude, the branch I picked up from was understaffed, I had to wait for a car because there were none available, even though I had a reservation a month in advance. I wanted to cancel my rental due to no cars available at the time I was supposed to pick up, but was told I would still have to pay a cancellation fee when they had no cars. Returning the car was a nightmare as every drop off spot was full. People had to resort to parking in the middle of the parking garage lane to make their flights.

When I arrived with my confirmation number, I was told that they had over sold the cars and no cars were available. In 37 years of business travel this was the first time this had ever happened to me. I was devastated as I had a 30 minute drive to my hotel and then another 30 minute drive in the morning to a critical business meeting. All local hotels were sold out so I was planning to sleep on the bench at Budget until morning when they thought there might be some cars. Thankfully the staff found me a returned car that was uncleaned and rented it to me at a discounted rate. I now have one more thing to worry about with my business travel going forward.
