Medicare and Humana gave me a hard time for ALMOST 3 YEARS AND SEVERAL APPEALS over paying the full nursing home bill after a hit-and-run driver broke my pelvis.
West Bend Insurance (my home and auto company) is covering it. It hadn’t occurred to me to file a claim with West Bend because I wasn’t in a car at the time. (Not having the protection of being inside a vehicle, I feel blessed that I survived.)
West Bend not only reimbursed me for the bills I had to pay myself, it also reimbursed Humana for what it did pay. So although I’m glad and grateful to get the check, this outcome is not as satisfying as it should be.
The adjuster (Laura H.) would call again when I didn't return her previous call. And she even encouraged me to put in a claim for “pain and suffering” to the limit of the policy, which is not an inconsiderable amount.
Unfortunately, West Bend does not offer health coverage, but I highly recommend it for home and auto coverage.”
