“Great liquor store with a very good selection. They have a number of hard to find bottles.Prices are reasonable. For instance, the bottle of Buffalo Trace was listed at $39.99. That’s not the worst price I’ve seen, but it is about 50% over MSRP. If you’re a fan of BT, then you won’t mind paying a premium for availability.”
“Cute little place on Atwood. Nice flights and wines to choose from. Seating a bit tight with loud (but happy!) customers on a busy, sunny Saturday, so friend & I relocated to the back bottle area. Wait staff very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return. Hoping to sit outside when warmer!”
“Steve's always seems to have those things you can't get just anywhere. They also have great service whether it's helping make a decision or carrying things to your car.”

1 E Main St, Madison“We love Square and all of the people who work there. They’re always so kind and helpful in answering questions and choosing the right wine for the occasion. Square has been our go-to wine shop since 2018/19. Their new(er) shop is beautiful and set up well for perusing the bottles or having a glass of wine with friends. I love their wine club also. Andrea curates them thoughtfully, including bottles that are tried and true while peppering in fun finds as well.”
“Came to visit from out of state. This place is awesome! It seemed like there were hundreds of beers to choose from. They provide an opportunity to try anything you can think of. Multiple size options too. Highly recommended.”
“This is one of the best liquor stores in the Madison area. I almost hate to rate this and give away a hidden treasure. The liquor selections are some of the best that I’ve seen. They have an extensive beer selection as well as plenty of wine options. The store picks for alcohol are very good. they have some higher proof single barrel options that other stores would fight to have in their inventory. They also have the most extensive collection of mini bottles that I’ve seen in person. This is a definite stop for all you sneaky sippers out there.Staff is very pleasant.”
“I've never seen so many helpful people at a liquor store in my whole life. I was looking for some N/A options and they had a great selection. Everyone was super friendly.”
“Brennan's Market was a great grocery market to walk to to grab some Wisconsin local options. They have a great selection of beer, wine, cheese, and some deli options and sandwiches. Lots of parking and friendly staff.”
“Total wine has a HUGE selection. As someone who enjoys bourbon, it is hard to decide which one to try. The staff there is extremely helpful. There are sampling tables to try before you buy.”
11AM - 9PM
855 E Johnson St, Madison“Best small liquor store in Madison. I would almost call this a "craft" liquor store, because they could definitely help you put together an awesome cocktail. The staff and especially the manager, Dylan, is beyond reputable and trustable in his knowledge of wines, liquors etc”
“Good local liquor store with a friendly staff. Pro tip: if you like Rumple Minze, ask if they have any cold because they usually do and that separates them from most liquor stores. Cheers!”
10AM - 12AM
609 N Sherman Ave, Madison“Great Selections for all things in Adult Beverages. Wines, mixes, whiskeys, scotch, you name it.
Best Ice on the planet, too. Heed the warning though; don't throw the bag on the floor to break it up, because it WILL break. 'Nough said.
Deb and all the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and always willing to assist.
Keep up the great work!”
“Saw a post on Facebook about these guys having something hard to find at a good price. I had never been there before, but messaged them to see if they had any left and without hesitation they held a bottle for me. Their display of it was immediately inside the front door. No hiding, no games, nice staff, great pricing. I’ll be back.”
“Picked up a great deal on a 6 foot by 9 foot outdoor rug for our gazebo. Being a World Market member (easy signup) we got an extra 25% off for members only and did in store pickup to save on shipping.”
“Amazing selection of spirits from all around the world. I was initially skeptical because they are located in collegetown, but their selection is truly impressive. Various types of beers, wines from various places (Georgia, Argentina, Europe, and more), and even Lebanese Arak.”
“The prices are great and so is the service. Tell your employee he wreaks of weed. You all know who I'm talking about... Don't have anything against it, it's just super unprofessional.”
10AM - 9PM
6661 University Ave unit 105, Middleton“Blu is the best employee in the world and a great person. David is an excellent employee as well, but he got beat by his Grandma in Fantasy Football!!!! Omar is a cool dude and dog Ally is cool. He does need to get his cooler fixed! Omar's Mother is a Queen!!!! 5 stars easily yo.......”
“This was my first time at this store and I must say it was very enjoyable. The staff (especially Billy) were all very helpful and knowledgeable of their products. I was provided samples of anything I desired and given other samples to compare against the choices I was interested in.Not only do they have oils and vinegars, but they also carry a huge assortment of liquor and whiskey. Additionally, they offer dinner events and cooking classes to experience the uses of many of the products they carry.Although this was a first time visit, there will be many more in the future.”
“The staff was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The store isn't huge, but has all the common popular brands and choices. If you're looking for a less common or specialty wine, beer, or liquor, you may have to go elsewhere. The physical store is older and darker than newer or remodeled places.
But it is a great corner store open every day until 9.”
10AM - 9PM
1209 Williamson St, Madison“I always enjoy my interactions with the staff. They are patient, friendly, and willing to talk. I've received and made great recommendations over the years. The willingness to incorporate local tastes while still cultivating their own selection is what makes Star a neighborhood gem.”
“I was truly impressed- it was like a museum! Oh, so many colorful offerings and varieties on site. I stopped on a humbug, but if im in the area this will definitely be my go-to...”
9AM - 9PM
424 N Main St, DeForest“Good little liquor store.
Selection is limited due to the size of the store… But they have everything you might need. Prices are very reasonable.”
“Works, while open. Decent selection, funky place. WI liquor stores close at 9pm. No more sales after that, unless you hit one of the many student watering holes.”
“Found a piece of holiday decor I love tonight. Very difficult to find, but there it was! Also first time I’ve found properly made fresh cherry turnovers in forever! Thank you!”
“Went here for some New Glarus Spotted Cow and the owner help me cut the 12 pack in half with a straight razor so I can give a gentleman’s six pack to two of my friends. Whenever I come back to Madison, I will come here for all my alcohol needs! Thanks so much!”
9AM - 9PM
1763 Thierer Rd, Madison“I have a built a relationship with the owner since they first opened and he has always been kind to help me out finding rare products. I don’t get mad if I am not able to get rare stuff that gets in since he has plenty of other loyal customers to help out.I have been in the store and have watched bourbon hunters ask for Blanton’s, Eagle Rare, etc. with no luck and just leave. That is not the way to do it. People can go to Woodman’s, Total Wine, other grocery stores for their goods if they want something cheaper, but it pays to support local stores especially if you’re on the hunt for rare bourbon.Don’t be mad that you didn’t get a bottle of Blanton’s because you stop in the store and ask for it and then leave immediately.”
8AM - 6:45PM
711 S Gammon Rd, Madison“I recommended has the cheapest gas station in the west. Some people may feel different but it’s also really convenient. There’s a grocery store next to the gas station. That’s just convenient honestly. And it’s a pretty safe area.”
“Great selection and generally good prices to within a dollar or two for most things relative to the cheapest price you'll find in Dane County. Very convenient if you live anywhere in Waunakee! They also carry a few rarer things that no other local liquor stores carry.”
