I adopted today a dog and I only can say they're an amazing staff. Since my first call they helped me with all the details about adoption. The store has many things for pets and the adoption was so fast and worth it. Me and my partner are really thankful .

First time in yesterday. Person at register saw us but didn't greet us. She did track us down a bit later to ask if we needed anything which was helpful. There were 2 employees I saw, both young girls. Other than that interaction and asking if I want paper or plastic they mainly chatted and we just went around them when needed. The Positives: Overall store was clean. The Pup cookies were so cute!! The store looked like it had alot of variety at first glance. The Rest: I was there to buy a few different small bags of cat food as my cats are so picky. The selection is very disappointing. I recognized a couple brands but the rest I didn't know and every single bag was expensive. I can't afford $26 for a small bag of cat food. Tried to find wet cat food and nothing. Cat toys were $6.99 and up. Cat treats were $4.49 and up when I can get same brand for $1.79 elsewhere. Lots of empty space where more variety (at some lower price points) could be stocked. I really want to shop local and phase out Amazon or driving to a bigger city. The animals.... sigh. Several bird cages, all empty but 1 had parakeets. There was a cat for adoption ($350) in a tiny tank. The poor cat had some scratchers in it and soft bedding. No food, water, or litter box that I could see. How many hours are they kept in those ?!?!Fish and small furries - several empty, very dirty tanks. Several tanks by sink were very dirty. A Guinea pig needs a bigger enclosure than that. It was terrified having humans come up to it and didn't have an adequate place to hide. The dogs - right away I was disappointed. For some reason I thought animart sold rescues. Nope, designer breeder dogs for $3500. Please don't do a response where you talk about your local select breeders like they're family etc. Keeping it local is great, but not when it's at the literal expense of others LIVES (all these animals who are euthanized because they can't find a home). Also no need to post that one article where Animart helped some rescues once. One good deed doesn't outweigh a continued bad one.In conclusion- It's almost 2024. Let's phase out breeder usage and start making long lasting local impact by doing rescue sales only and adoptathons. Be mindful that while Waunakee is a rich city, lots of people also live here who aren't rich and can't afford $26 for a bag of cat food. Have lower priced options and then collect data on sales. You will find by keeping shelves FULLY stocked, animals better cared for (the girls could have been working on this instead of standing and chatting so much), more variety of items, and having at least 1 older staff member on site, you will see the negative reviews decline and see more profit for your store. And yes, I know the response will be generic and the "we agree to disagree", but I hope you take this to heart. We can all do better as humans, businesses etc. People keep telling you the same things. LISTEN.

Only used the pet washing station so can't comment on the rest of the store. The pet shower is great. They provide you with free towels and your choice of pet shampoo (with or without conditioner) to use. They have a separate entrance for the dog washing section but you need to pay at the counter first ($16 per pet) and they could unlock it for you so that you are not walking your pet through the entire store first. There would be too many toys and treat distractions to the pet washing area along the way. My only complaint was that the hook on the wall to tether your dog to was too low and close to the front. Otherwise it is a nice facility for dog washing.

Love this pet store! I highly recommend the self serve dog wash! It makes bathing a rambunctious pup so much easier!! Great staff, lovely place, and quality products!

We were in a few times to pick up emergency supplies but will make a point of not coming back in the future. Their stock of basic cat supplies has been limited more than once, with more empty shelves than not for entire sections of canned food, and aloof staff (when a small store like this is virtually empty and you still feel like you're chasing an employee down to be able to ask a basic question, that's remarkably poor service).Much more concerning, the animals that they have on site are in smaller enclosures than similar businesses, and the accomodations for everything except their designer puppies is visibly dirty. They have had more than one cat remain on site for multiple months unadopted, which considering the insane prices they ask for an adoption relative to any other local humane societies or other adoption foundations, is not surprising. They really are not equipped to be handling these animals.Either way, Mounds is an infinitely better (if somewhat more out of the way) alternative to every pet supply need, and the local humane society is where people should be going to adopt cats. As far as the business itself goes, even with these issues aside, they really manage their shop floor poorly and have lost us as returning customers.

Visited this animart location for the first time yesterday. The experience was unlike the madison and beaver dam store, I was not greeted, the animals were also kept in terrible condition, and had a poor experience with an employee. The hamster and gerbil “kit” in particular was horrendous and much too small and boring for those animals. One baby Guinea pig also looked like it could use medical attention as it’s eye was gooped shut. When I was checking out one employee asked another if she would do a hamster adoption and her response was “hell no” and went on register instead. Do not recommend this location to anyone, spend your time elsewhere.

We adopted our 10 week old Golden Retriever, Rusty (Buns), from this Animart. They take the time to go over everything and anything about your new furry friend. They are a little expensive, but I think well worth it.

I love this location in waunakee, always knowledgeable and friendly, Shaina is great about finding the fish I want and is quick to get them! The store manager is really friendly as well and she knows me by name. The bigger store has lots to choose from but doesn't have the same close feel. Totes recommend this store!
