I joined Medina Boxing about 3 weeks ago. I had done a little boxing in the military about 20 years ago and really missed it. With PTSD, Anxiety and Depression after getting out of the Army. I found myself in some bad places. I had always been very passionate about boxing since watching fights with my grandfather as a kid. I had been talking to my therapist the last couple years about signing up for boxing again. The problem was I was only talking about it. I turned 40 this last march and finally decided I needed to actually do it. I called coach and he couldn’t have been nicer and more supportive. I went to do a try out and even though I’m wildly out of shape, I loved it. Soon after I signed up and am there almost everyday and lost about 13 pounds in just over 3 weeks. Coach Medina sees boxing so differently from the way I had trained as a young adult. There’s a reason his fighters are so successful. His attention to detail, passion and creativity is truly something special. I told him last week that if he sticks with me, he will witness something special with my weight loss and wanting to compete someday. He could have blown me off or just blow smoke to make me feel good, but that’s not him. Everyone in that gym is important to him. Also. I was a little nervous thinking I was gonna run into a bunch of cocky fighters. Not the case. Every single person I’ve interacted with at the gym is so supportive of each other. It’s a team there. Everyone wants the best for each other and it shows. I told coach this is the best decision I’ve made in the last 10 years besides marrying my wife. If you’re thinking about getting into the sport. Even just as a workout or self defense or a confidence builder. Give coach a call.Jim

This will be much more than just a review of my experience, because once I stepped into this gym, my life in America was transformed. Let's start from the beginning. I am Michele, a 17-year-old boy from Italy with a strong desire to explore the world of boxing, gain experience, grow, and enter the hall of fame of boxing champions. So, nine months ago, I decided to come to Wisconsin to start this journey, and God blessed me by pairing me with an amazing Coach, Coach Oscar Medina. I remember the first day I entered the gym, and I saw a sign that read:IF YOU MISS ONE DAY OF TRAINING YOU KNOW IT!IF YOU MISS 2 DAYS OF TRAINING YOUR OPPONENT KNOWS IT!IF YOU MISS 3 DAYS OF TRAINING EVERYONE KNOWS IT!From that small phrase on the wall, I already understood that I shouldn't miss a day in the gym; otherwise, it meant I wasn't really trying. So I did just that. I started my classes with the Fight Class guys, and also my private lessons with the coach. From there, the relationship with the guys and with the coach began to grow stronger. The months began to pass, and that gym started to become more and more my safe place, where a boy far from his family like me knew that even if he called the coach at night, he would surely answer to help you. What makes that gym unique is not the punching bags, the equipment, or the ring, but Coach Medina!Starting to talk with the coach was like opening a book, reading the pages, and discovering something new every day or deepening important life concepts. If I hadn't met this coach during my journey in the US, I honestly don't know how long I would have stayed, but with him by my side, every day was incredibly motivating. Of course, all my friends at the gym are also wonderful people, guys who are hard to find today. Each of them left something inside me, whether related to boxing or not. They made me feel at home, like in a real family. Some of them, at the end of this overwhelming experience, I can truly define as brothers, and I could really call the gym my HOME because, for nine months, I spent 3/4 hours a day there, training, making mistakes, trying and trying again but always putting all the will to win into it.As I've already said, the uniqueness of this gym lies in the coach. I would define him as a master of combat and life, because he is there ready to make you understand that if you want to win in the ring, you first have to win outside with yourself and the difficulties that life throws at you every day. In my life, I have never had such a relationship with an adult. I remember when he invited me out to eat for the first time. That small gesture, which might seem insignificant, meant a lot to me. After months in America, I finally felt close to someone who believed in me, in my abilities, and appreciated all the effort I was putting into boxing. Having someone like that by your side can lead to a working relationship between you and the coach almost as if you form the same mind with the same goal: to grow. For those with great ambitions like becoming the world champion, it is not always easy to find that person who sees in you what you see in yourself. But if this happens, as it did in my case with Coach Medina, your mind grows, and you start doing things you never did to achieve goals that seemed bigger than you.Finding a coach who has trained with Manny Pacquiao, Oleksandr Usyk, Vasyl Lomachenko, and many others is rare, if not impossible. But when, at 64 years old, he comes to you and asks, "Do you want to train together with 10 rounds of 3 minutes on the bag?" you realize how much he is a true coach, who not only shows you the way but walks with you along the path, aware that it won't be easy but willing to stay with you just to climb a mountain because YOU ARE A TEAM, YOU SUFFER AND REJOICE TOGETHER.Coach Medina, this is not a goodbye but an immense thank you, it is a see you next year, until the conquest of the most important ring in the world.

Medina’s gym is amazing. My boys are in the boxing class (for 1.5yrs) and the skills they are learning are outstanding. What Medina teaches them goes beyond the ring. He teaches them the skill they need to box but also respect and responsibility. I would highly recommend an adult class too.

This is way more than boxing training !Yes, I learned how to use the speed bag and all the other punching bags.Yes, I learned the punching combinations.Yes, I learned the footwork.Yes I learned all the defensive maneuvers. And yes, I am very good at them but, what I am most proud of, is the Life’s Lessons Coach Medina taught me. He is not only a renowned boxing coach but, to me and all the other gym members, he is a renowned Life Coach also. This is the best training combination I could ever have imagined..

As someone who is new to the states and was looking for not only a competitive but a family like gym this is the place. Coach Medina teaches everything from mental toughness to physical conditioning and the fundamentals of boxing. Coach pushes you to your limit and more coach knows how to break you down and then pick you up. Coach Medina is a boxing genius who knows what to tell you when you are doing something wrong his IQ for this sport is unmatched compared to other local boxing gyms. If I could put ten stars I would. If anyone is looking for this type of experience I would one hundred percent recommend this amazing gym.
