I had cheese curds shipped to New Orleans for my daughter's wedding... They had the Wednesday curds delivered on Friday morning. They were so good and everyone enjoyed a little bit of Wisconsin at the reception!!

A gem in the middle of a small town with great values, great cheese and a wonderful staff and an owner with patriotic values!

Stopped to grab some cheese curds. They had tons of samples. We fell in love with the anniversary Alpine and bought the 18 year cheddar on a whim. The 18 year is one of the most incredible cheeses I've ever had in my life!

After reading a billboard on Highway 41 we headed to this very quaint, (like in a neighborhood quaint!) family owned cheese cellar and were thrilled to see a 100 year old thriving cheese maker! The brick cheese is fabulous and is actually served up the road at the Pioneer Keg as cheese curds. They are so tasty! The cellar is located in a basement so it is not large for moving around inside but it was really nostalgic and neat to see first hand how and where cheese has been made for four generations now. Highly recommend if you want some good cheese. They ship too!

Really outstanding cheese establishment. Old school- and delish. Their cheddar is primo!! As I was getting my Christmas cheese orders completed, lots of people came in for bags of still-warm cheese curds. I must return to try them!!

This little patch of heaven is literally in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin but if you're willing to make the trek it will seriously reward you with some amazing cheese & history. The town is very small and this is located at the end of a street and I think if your not looking u would drive right past it. Once inside u will be blown away by the operation right in front of your eyes. The staff are friendly and have quite a few options to purchase as well. It is pricy but dang u can't get any fresher than this place. I've saved it to my maps so if I'm ever back and within a hundred miles I'm coming back again.

When did they change the name from Widmer's. As far as I know, this is Widmer's. The other location given for Widmer's ( in the town of Theresa) has a sign that says Widmer's is that way.

As a displaced Wisconsinite and self-professed cheese snob, I will go out of my way to seek out extraordinary cheese. Widmers is known for their Brick cheese, which is hard to come by in the southwest. Fortunately, they ship! We often have their 5lb mild brick shipped along with other favorites (no free shipping, unfortunately) and split it with family and friends (but they have to be really, really good friends--not everyone rates sharing the good stuff) The brick curds are delicious and different --very mild. Not everyone is a fan of aged brick --it's like a very very aggressive brie, but if you like smelly cheese, you'll love Widmer's. I'm a die hard fan! Their shipping is reliable and they also offer dry ice as an option --which is a smart choice if you live in warmer states and don't want to end up with fondue on your doorstep

When I head up to Slinger, I do my best to visit just 10 minutes north of there to one of the most Pleasant, and tiniest, creameries in the state, Widmer's Cheese Cellar. Located in a small town at the end of a residential street, right by the river, is a traditional Wisconsin home with Swiss decor outside. When you walk inside, the retail area is Tiny But loaded with cheese made right there, just to your left, down below, in the 90-year-old creamery. With historic photos in the wall, when you look at the stainless steel back down below, you can almost picture the guys making the cheese in the 1950s right before your eyes. Like many creameries in Wisconsin, widmer's is known for brick, cheddar, and Colby. You'll find a few other varieties, and you'll find the number of aged cheeses. You can't leave here without having an aged cheddar and experiencing the difference not only between small batch cheddar and your average big box retail store cheddar, but also an aged cheddar. Wow. Prices here are excellent, and if you go in the tall refrigerator he'll find some random shaped cuts of cheeses priced a fair amount lower per pound. You'll be able to taste a few cheeses and by exactly the way you want up some of them. Staff behind the counter is very helpful. Don't forget to take home a bag of cheese curds!.

You will need to make this a definite stop when you visit Wisconsin. The building, while appearing basic and 'nothing fancy' on the outside - is a definite delicious treasure trove on the inside! If you're a fan of smelly brick cheese - this is definitely your place. Want something milder? Oh yes - you must get cheese curds! And let's not forget about the other cheeses that are the best melted - either on top of your Tater Tot Hotdish or in your Grilled Cheese. Oh bonus - not going to Wisconsin any time soon? You can order the cheese to have shipped to you!

It's a little tricky to find this place- but if you are alert and diligent, you won't miss it! Lots of great cheeses and sausages- helpful staff and fair prices. The place has lots of history so feel free to look over some of the pictures and history of the establishment. Would stop in again!

Great cheese and very personal people. Samples were great! They have cheese curds, blocks, 12 year aged cheese, sausage. It's a great little find in a quaint town.

This is a great place to stop on a day trip. You have probably noticed Widmer's at restaurants and grocery stores in the Milwaukee area. Why not get it from the source!? The store area is tiny but they manage to carry every thing you could want. There are numerous types of cheese and you can sample them. I am partial to their brick cheese, curds and string cheese. Their string cheese is easily my favorite. It's worth the drive. It's less than an hour drive and you can stock up!

July 2018 by Dick W.
Went today, July 25, for some fresh cheeses and to try some of their different sausages. Bought about $30 of various cheeses, including a bag of cheese curds. Paid and outside I opened the cheese curds. NO SQUEAKING! Looked at the manufactured date on the bag and it was July 19th, 6 days old. I went back inside and asked for some fresher ones and the lady told me those are fresh. Showed her the date and she told me to warm them in a microwave and they will be better. I won't be back....
