I want so desperately to give this facility a 5 star review, because the gym itself was amazing. However, the process of cancelling my membership has been very stressful. I had to urgently leave Sheboygan at very short notice and move back to New Zealand from the US in September 2022 after having a parent diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour.I reached out the the gym to cancel my membership once I arrived home and they REFUSED to accept my membership cancellation via email or any other form aside from in person or a handwritten letter by post. Even though it was explained that I had urgently left the country and could provide flight information to show this.I have posted a HAND WRITTEN cancellation request by mail multiple times and it of course "never makes it" to the gym. You can't message them on Facebook and of course when I try to call I am being charged a hefty international fee or it's outside of staffed hours. As a result my New Zealand bank account has been charged for my membership for over 12 months! And no doubt constant letters having been sent to my old address / employer in Sheboygan.So here I am, still trying to cancel a membership for a gym in a country I don't live in and can't access and haven't been able to access for over a year. Horrific. It's stressful, frustrating and has caused me anxiety.I have just sent my 5th letter requesting membership cancellation. In the event this isn't resolved yet again I will have no choice but to seek legal advice locally in the US from New Zealand and pursue reimbursement and any costs relating to me having to do so.This is so disappointing, I wanted to rejoin PF when I eventually return to the US but will now avoid at all costs.At what point do you make an exception and help someone as a gesture of goodwill? 2 years? 5 years? I can provide the death certificate of my parent, flight information, proof I've been residing in the opposite hemisphere for 13 months. I can email anything, get a signed letter notorised, at what point can you just accept my request and situation, make an exception and grant me cancellation over email?I even offered to have someone come in on my behalf to cancel it and this was not accepted.Please make sure that before you consider joining this gym, you're going to be able to cancel your membership in person if anything ever comes up. It's not worth the stress.The staff when I used the gym itself were amazing, friendly, kind and welcoming. wonderful. It's very sad that the admin side of the business lets them down. Should you see my review and decide maybe you'll actually help me, please reach out with some form of contact method other than carrier pigeon or me booking a $2500, 20 hour flight to Sheboygan from the literal opposite side of the Planet. Please.Thanks.
