Wonderful staff and volunteers! Extremely friendly and do everything they can to care for their animals. Their goal is to get animals adopted as quickly as possible for the benefit of the animals.

I am very disappointed in the local Humane Societies ,in the the greater Milwaukee area. I have made many inquiries sent to them., I have been trying to contact them regarding being a foster parent and wanting to know if I am interested in a cat, no one contacts you, along with the site "Adopt a pet" what a joke. Has anybody else went through this, with no contact back?

I adopted a wonderful dog from the Wisconsin Humane Society Ozaukee County location just a few days ago. I had a really positive experience. Staff and volunteers were kind, attentive and compassionate. Five months ago my dog of 15 years passed, considering a new dog adoption was a big step. And, was truthfully a bit overwhelming and emotional. The staff and volunteers were such a big part of what made my experience so positive and meaningful. I was never rushed in my decision making and staff and volunteers created a space where I felt comfortable being myself. There are some negative comments in other reviews. Please do remember that the Wisconsin Humane Society is a non-profit organization and by nature non-profit organizations don't have the level of resources that they genuinely need. Monetary donations and donation of volunteer time are always a well needed way to contribute.

Great experience! Abby helped us adopt our cat and was professional and gave us all the information we needed. Kind staff who really care about the well-being of the animals. The animal rooms are clean and well kept. Prices are reasonable. Thank you!

I visited the Ozaukee Humane Society to meet Sam, a 2 year old lab from Alabama that desperately needed a new home. Check in went smoothly, although the man in front of me held things up because he had to do everything on paper. I had submitted my paperwork online the previous night to save the wait time hassle. Once I was matched with my adoption counselor Jada we went to go meet Sam. He was playing with several toys in his glass enclosure, the enclosure orderly and clean. We were taken into a meet and greet area behind the glass enclosure and Sam was let out to do some sniffing and running. Jada was very honest with us about his past history and his need for additional behavioral modification. She wasn't pushy which we truly appreciated, and gave us time to think over this new family member. We did decide to bring Sam home and Jada only needed a few minutes to out together our adoption folder. We were given all of Sams previous medical records, along with a free vet visit, and a small starter supply of food. We purchased a recommended leash at their store and headed home. Sam soon was renamed Samson and the rest is history. I highly recommend this shelter, they are compassionate and really care for the animals that are there.
